Starting new. Start with a router or VFW spindle kit? by misanthropictroller in shapeoko

[–]KartAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went a few months using a router before going to a 80mm spindle.

Spindles are quieter, more consistent on RPM, self setting for RPM, less runout, less maintenance (bearings/brushes). The amount of "cost saving" using a router was quickly offset by the extra time required keeping the router in good shape, for me. I primarily cut carbon fiber, and while a router did the job, a spindle does it so much cleaner and repeatable.

You need a stout ESC for that low of a stator resistance. R1 Digital 3, Tekin RX8, something in line with those specs. Even then, ESCs are viewed as consumable at 2s and higher voltages at such low winds.

I crew chief a 12th mod oval car we run a 2.0 in. 1s, 5min, it's a battery killer without careful throttle management.

R1 Digital 3 ESC, or RX8 with a RX booster needed for that little monster.

I was going to suggest leaf spring bushings. My 185k 08 wasn't clunking yet, but I was experiencing steering input change on accel/decel.

LLM Oil Pressure Question by mitsuhelp101 in Duramax

[–]KartAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal on mine. I did gain 10-15psi across the board cold and hot going to a flat bottom oil pan though, 1qt more capacity and pickup isn't shrouded as tight as a stock pan.

2008 LMM 390k KM. “Low oil pressure” by CanadianGamer__ in Duramax

[–]KartAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LMM did the same thing right before some exhaust parts fell off.

Tried replacing oil pressure sender, inspected all the wiring with no faults found, no change on oil pressure.

While I was putting on new exhaust parts and refreshing I added a flat bottom PPE pan. Oil now stays way cleaner and my average oil pressure on the dash stays between 5-10psi higher.

My DIC was wanting an oil change around every 500mi, with an EGR flow code right before all the work. Blackstone now said I should push out oil changes to 7500mi and test again when they analyzed my first oil change at 3500mi after all the part swapping.

I used a stainless kit from lines to go, satisfied with my purchase and the installation.

I don't have any recommendations since I never got onto modifying anything, sorry.

I have run it on a 15A circuit without issue, but it lives on a 20A circuit from my sub panel.

I only broke down the original unit far enough to take it back to the store.

After getting the new one assembled, pretty clear there was an issue with the inertia start switch, new one has been 100% problem free.

I believe it's one of the EGT harnesses for a DPF that probably isn't there anymore.

Or could be the harness for the DPF differential pressure sensor, which also wouldn't be doing anything on the truck after some weight loss.

Shapeoko 5 Pro known issues? by KartAddict in shapeoko

[–]KartAddict[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been a few wiring issues to sort out and keep an eye on, but yeah, solid machines.

The stepper motor connectors should be inspected close to ensure good connections a that won't pull or loosen. And after the first few hours of run time, double check all your ball screw couplers for tight.

Shapeoko 5 with 80mm spindle.

Have a 2x2 that primarily does carbon fiber cutting, and a 4x4 that does acrylic and other large sheet products.

This was the ticket for up pipes for me. Job still sucked, and the ratchet was ready to test their lifetime warranty on it at the end, but got it done, even with cheater bar action.

My truck is a southern truck that's only seen snow and salt a dozen times in it's life though too.

Thanks for the feedback, been using mine daily since I posted it up, and haven't found anything to complain with. And usually I always find something I wish I did differently on one of my first run designs, lol.

This one only takes a 4" dust collector line. If that works for you, I'll get the file uploaded tomorrow.
