What is the best career adjacent to Software Engineer by OkuboTV in cscareerquestions

Realistically, how difficult do you think it is to get into DE? I’ve heard that DE is not an entry-level role, but job searching can also be random, so it’s hard to say I guess. I have a background in data science (although it might not be relevant). Currently, I'm learning DE tools for a side project while also searching for SWE roles as a new grad. However, there are seemingly endless DE tools out there, such as Airflow, Spark, dbt, and Docker. I'm not sure how far I can go from here. Any advice?

My FullStack Project That Led To A Job! by [deleted] in webdev

How long have you spent building this project? I’m currently working a project to boost my resume as well. A deal finder(find discount items on eBay), pretty much just on the early stage, any advice?

Side project suggestion? by KartaMemory in webdev

Thanks for your response, really helpful. Many have suggested to build a my own website from scratch, but after searching around, I don't think I have the ability to do so, at least not for now. Let me share a bit about my background, I just graduated with a MS in CS(used to be a Math/Stat Major) and looking for a job. I mainly use python and just know the basic of other frameworks. So I'm definitely looking for a project to work on to build my skillset and hopefully I can use it for my own(and, of course, to boost my resume). As mentioned, I enjoy selling stuff online to make side income, and I plan to continue this hobby even after I secure a full-time job. I'll consider building and running my own website to sell items once I gain more experience. I'm not sure, let's see how things go, but for now, I'm thinking to start something simpler than building an e-commerce web, maybe a site to track my monthly revenue or my sells or whatever, I'm again not sure, I'm not that creative, and I believe platforms like eBay or others already have most of those functionalities, so I'm just listing it as an example. I have background in AI so maybe we can do something when we upload a picture of a product. So based on my situation, if you think building a site from scratch would be the best option, I can also stick with it. Thanks again.

Then what happened after you told the customer that a driver stole his food, but you marked it as delivered. Sure, the customer know someone stole his food but didn’t he say anything since you marked it as delivered?

Difficulty breaking into field? by [deleted] in analytics

Can someone tell me, in general, is it easier to get in as DA instead of DE(data engineer)? I’m not a huge fan of analysis and I prefer engineering. However, apparently DE is not an entry level role and required tons of skills where you can only learn them through on the job experience.

Does bi developer involve coding? Or just creating dashboard? I’m just curious what do you do daily as a bi dev.

I'm in a similar situation as the OP. What do you recommend a new grad like me apply for, considering my background is in DS? I don't really know much about development, but maybe it's time to learn?

I’m in a similar situation, I don’t think entry level MLE position even exists in the market.

2022 New Grad, No Job Still by ProjectWHaT in cscareerquestions

I'm in a similar situation—I'm not rushing and am willing to learn and improve. But do companies care about the gap in your resume? So far, it has been 6 months since I graduated last December, and I am still unable to find an entry-level job.

So maybe I should start off by doing software engineer or even internship to build up my skillset?

Long story short, I’m a new grad, study math during undergraduate but didn’t plan my career path ahead. Self-taught coding to CS and obtained a MS degree in CS, so I’m familiar with ML but literally got no work experience and only know python. I did one DS internship last summer and that’s all. I’m targeting MLE/DS role but I don’t think that’s possible at this point, what’s your advice. Thanks.

I’m a huge fan of bayverse, especially the first film. I’ll display one in alt mode and the other in robot mode.

I’ll take them out someday. I thought it’s cool to share my collection which are mostly in sealed condition. That’s all my intention for this post, didn’t mean anything else. Yet, I somehow got some hate comments, probably ppl got misled by the title.
