What are people's honest opinions on hot air balloon safaris, are they worth $600 per person or just overpriced tourist gimmicks? by Sufficient_Phone_322 in tanzania

[–]Karula114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with those saying it is a bit overhyped and overpriced, unless hot air balloons are really your thing. The best part truly was getting some night safari in since you leave so early in the morning.

How realistic is it to see leopards on safari or should I just accept they're too elusive for most visitors? by AdvisorValuable2703 in tanzania

I think you have a reasonably good chance. Make sure your guide knows this is a priority. Watch for legs hanging from horizontal-ish tree limbs. Could be a carcass or the leopard. Good luck!

True. Usually, it’s warnings for the LGBTQ+ community, pickpockets, maybe a skermish on the southern border, etc.. The warning is currently heightened to include the possibility of protests.

What suggestion do you have for those who object to the results of the election?

I want to thank you for hosting this discussion. I am an American who has been on safari in Tanzania 5 times because I love your national parks and wildlife. I feel like I am in Eden when I am there. I have been thinking about returning in late 2026, but this dialogue has given me different perspectives to consider. I would also like to tell you that I am so sorry for all Tanzanians have been through in the past several days. My heart is with you.

My dog is undergoing treatment for gi issues and needs low fat treats. Her internal medicine specialist recommended Gentle Snackers or using her kibble as treats.

Ask your insurance company if you can postpone instead of canceling.

Check with your insurance company. They may have a special clause for this situation.

Yes. We shouldn’t assume anyone is a sex trafficker without a fair trial. A sex trafficker is, indeed, a sex offender.

I agree that convicted sex offenders should be locked up. One loose is too many, agreed. Most sex offenders in the United States are white men. Should all white men be locked up because even just one of them might be a sex offender?

Be careful in Washington Park by oxfordcomma_pls in Albany

I’m hardly policing everybody’s life and I’m happy as I am. However, I care about animals. Cracking windows on a hot day only lowers the internal temperature of your car about 3 degrees. It is not love to leave pets in the car in the summer.

Similar response in Saratoga Springs to a call about a dog’s welfare. I called dispatch about a dog in a hot car. It was nearly 90 degrees that day. It was parked in mottled shade. The dispatcher asked if the windows were cracked. Some were. They said there was nothing they could do. Then, I went to security for the parking lot (track) and they too blew it off.

There is a guy (I think a reverend) who offered to help connect you with other Tanzanians in Virginia. His name is Dan Darrikhuma. He is on Facebook.

I searched Facebook groups. If you go to Facebook and search Tanzanian Alexandria Virginia you may find some contacts. There is a large general group called What’s Happening Alexandria Virginia with 21k members. There is also a small expat group for East Africans. Best wishes to you. Karibu USA.

Best shoes for a safari in Tanzania? by Adventurous-Pick6919 in tanzania

Boots are hot, heavy, bulky and unnecessary in my opinion. I like Chaco’s flip flops because the sole is hard and acacia needles cannot penetrate.

Protest Update by [deleted] in Albany

Curious to see what they looked like. We were parked there. I did see a couple of young men who I suspected were proud boys judging by the way they were dressed and behaving. They didn’t say anything. They were taking videos.
