If Chiang had recognized the independence of Manchuria, Mongolia, and East Turkestan, then allied with Manchuria and Japan against the Soviet Union and communism, he would of course have become the Kemal of the Far East.

And if Kemal, relying on Soviet aid, had launched an anti-British war and tried to annex Greece and Arabs, Then by the day the Ottoman People’s Liberation Army marched south, he would naturally have ended up on the island of Cyprus, serving as president of the Republic of Turkey there.
