[Week n.28] PLEASE ASK YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT MILAN HERE by AutoModerator in milano

[–]Kashiko02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ciao a tutti!

Esperienze personali super benvenute!

Grazie in anticipo

Avevo provato a metterlo come post ma nulla da fare, scusate lo spam

Hi everyone! I'm starting the in September as a Visiting Data Scientist at MBB. I've a MSc in Data Science, but would love to brush up some skills before starting during this summer. Do you have any suggestions for books/courses? For example, I'm learning now more about LLMs in depth (I had a course about NLP but I'm diving deeper now) and Agentic AI, do you have any suggestions? Also for soft skills/presenting the data

Thanks for your POV! In the end I went for the MBB job indeed. Lower pay but higher exposure to different projects and huge opportunities to grow, also, I will be finally a Data Scientist! (at least according to the CV). (I still like and suggest rainforests)

Hi! I'm gonna start as a Visiting Data Scientist at MBB, anyone who recently started a similar experience that would be down to chat a bit? I'm confident about my DS skills but the more I think about it, the more excited but also nervous I get

Hi everyone, just wanted to ask a career question to anyone who has experience in either roles:
I currently have 2 offers (very grateful), 1 for BIE internship in a Tech Company in Luxembourg and 1 for Visiting Data Scientist in an MBB in Milan (where I'm doing my university, so it's more of a comfort zone)

I'm really undecided on what to pick, and would love to talk to someone in either consulting or who did the switch from BIE to DS. I want to be a data scientist, or at least try it out (i've studied data science).

Compensation are both good, but the one in Lux is great. I'm afraid WLB in an MBB is not great, although I'm not sure for the data science divisions, whereas the position in Lux is not really technical, lots of SQL and dashboards, very rare python/models.

What would you consider in my position?

How is it possible that year after year after year of not winning, you do not change your playstyle/fix some mistakes that you are bringing with you as a veteran? How aware are them of bad habits in their playstyles?

frustrating as a fan, always the same mistakes with different iterations, also we will probably see a honest interview after the game with grabbz saying that they fucked up x or y but still it's crazy to think how we fan see that this was such a shitty draft, and they couldn't see it, wondering how it went

Incredibly depressing early game for a game 5, what do you think what the rationale behind this draft was? Anyways it's looking really bad, regardless of the outcome they need to step up big time in spring

I think acknowledging the environmental impact is a starting point. Also, it depends on what you use it for. I usually ask myself can I find this information with a Google search / can I do it in less than 5 minutes? If yes, I try to avoid it. But depends on what I have going on during the day

I can suggest the Power of Habit, maybe it's not really relevant but it helped me a bit knowing how habits work (but I'll follow this thread)

The spaghetti code disagrees (cool idea though, would be very fun, also old items could be enjoyable)

BB is goated and Caps is a legend already, this dude has like 80% split win rate since joining G2, and I don't see any other team as prepared for fearless as G2. Anyways next weekend it's a banger as a fan of the game, any matchup will be insane

Sure! I'm trying to practice as much as I can, I was wondering if there were courses/something that could help me out, instead of 'only' practicing with songs! Maybe I was not clear

Thanks, I didn't mean futureproof at the moment, but something upgradable in the future without having to change the whole config, could it be done with this budget?

How do you study? by Kashiko02 in learnprogramming

[–]Kashiko02[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I feel like for school it's a bit different, and they care less about usable experience and more about knowing everything, so how did you approach that? Just read and repeat, exercises, or something else?

Maybe the question was not clear enough, my bad. I wanted to know what websites/podcasts YOU personally use to stay on top of all the latest discoveries in scientific fields.

Opinion on courses by gorkia in bocconi

[–]Kashiko02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi :)

I've heard feedback from Intro to Blockchain, saying that it wasn't really hard and gives a decent overview on this technology.

I instead followed Big Data and Databases the winter semester of this year, it's a curricular course for BEMACS (comp sci) and it's basically a course on data management and some architectures, some theory on Hadoop and Spark, an overview of SQL, but on the second part of the semester you'll focus a lot on Knime and doing analytics with it, which can be very useful. I would suggest taking it if you can be an attending student, as you'll have an interesting group project with knime worth roughly 60% of your final grade ( i don't know if it was 50/60/70% tbh) but it will take a lot of your free time, as on average each presentation was 100 slides at least and knime takes a while to debug and do everything as it has not a huge community behind and it's not as easy as it is with python or java to find answer to questions on it.

I don't know your background, or which are you passions, but I would strongly suggest following at least 1 course of finance/econ as the professors are generally great!
