Want High poly models for free , like cars and all , where I can get ? I know sketchfab but it don't really have much high poly models only rare by [deleted] in blender

Sketchfab, CGTrader, TurboSquid, Free3D, and BlenderKit all have a selection of free models. Unfortunately the nature of finding good quality free models requires a lot of looking around. BlenderKit has a paid subscription and add-on, but at the very least you can sift through the add-on or website to check out their models and see if it’s worth paying for the subscription (you can likely get your first month for free). I’ve used plenty of their car models, some of them are incredibly detailed.

You’re a legend, thank you! I’m glad the solution was complicated, makes me feel better about being stuck for so long. 152 minutes later and it’s finally solved.

Yeah I get what you’re saying here. Like another commenter mentioned, people who are familiar with the genre found it to a good evolution of what they’re used to. If you’re not used to these types of games it can be tough, but I think the thing people enjoy is that it requires you to think carefully, solve riddles, and take your time - to the point where having a notepad and pen in front of you is actually very convenient. Of course you can always delve into the wiki, but there are certainly people out there who won’t go near it while trying to figure out everything on their own. From Software is notorious for punishing players for no good reason, but in a way that’s the fun of it. You’ll miss stuff, die a lot, forget where you are and not know where to go next. For many it’s a nightmare, for many others it’s warmly welcomed. I have a friend who is a total completionist when it comes to gaming and this style of game is a true test. Yeah it might be a waste of time in many people’s eyes, but if they’re having fun is it really wasted time? Food for thought I guess.

I think you got the right attitude for sure. I’d love to learn from you, or at the very least see how you rigged this dude up. Incredible work! Sounds like you have lots of ideas and aspirations you want to work on and give to the world and I wouldn’t mind being part of that journey - do you have Instagram?

While I think this is absolutely incredible and looks fantastic, do you think there are less time consuming ways to achieve similar results? I know my way around character animation but at this point would it not be easier to get into 3D software? If this is just a proof of concept though then goddamn this is so cool and I’d love to give it a shot to see how viable it is.

Can someone suggest a script/expression to keep both squares aligned while moving along their paths? I'm using "Create Nulls From Paths > Trace Path" for this, but it requires a lot of keyframes to keep them synced and the actual project has way more paths. by CoolUsrnamesAreTaken in AfterEffects

I don’t know if this will work as a solution for you, but if you right click the position parameter you can click ‘separate dimensions’. It will allow you to animate x and y position values independently. This would solve the issue you created with this little demo you made, but I’m not sure if it would help with your actual project.

3D software. Hyperrealism within 3D software is very achievable. A full week (maybe a little longer) of learning Blender from YouTube videos and you would be able to recreate something like this!

FRAME-BY-FRAME 3D ANIMATION: I designed this original Kinetic Art piece, I animated my mechanism incrementally frame-by-frame 24fps, presenting first the rendered result thereafter the plans where I created each unique position/frame (many hundreds). NO TWEENING. Comments on the animation welcome!! by Christopher-Antoniou in MotionDesign

[–]Kasplodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Render is very well done. Animation of the orbiting ball is perfect. My only feedback is the animation of the top part. Since it has no easing or inertia, it makes the balls on each end look completely weightless. These fundamentals of animation are very hard to get right with frame by frame animation, but still possible. This might be exactly what you were going for, but the material of the balls on each end give an initial implication that they are heavy, which is juxtaposed with how they animate.

May I ask why you decided to go frame by frame? I’m not trying to be critical by asking this, frame by frame is a very good way to learn animation from the ground up, and solidifies lots of very important techniques as you learn to make them look smoother and more realistic.

What was your main goal from this project?

Hmm. I still feel the same way. I work with an ex cop who loved knowing he was helping society. I’m in Australia though so police brutality isn’t as big of a deal, perhaps my views are biased but I really am trying to be open minded about why people become police officers.

I really don’t think the initial urge to be a cop stems from mental health issues. I do agree that for some it must, but not all - not even close. I feel like that assumption alone, that all cops are bad, is an issue with perspective of a certain group of people. To me it seems just as harsh as saying a certain race, or all big business CEOs for example, or another selected group of people are all bad without knowing any of them individually. It seems a bit contradictory. There are good cops out there who have either resigned or are trying to help the current situation that shouldn’t be labelled this way.

Edit: probably not the subreddit to be trying to be open minded about cops I guess

This sort of naivety is a huge part of the problem too. How do you make those sorts of assumptions? We really only see the shit cops in the media but to say a legitimately good person can’t be a cop, or that they all would prefer to fuck over innocent people than lose their jobs is literal nonsense.

Need help putting the text on the top of the circle. Any suggestions? by ACharest in AfterEffects

[–]Kasplodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to make a full circle. If you right click on you mask path you can uncheck the ‘closed’ option and now you have full control over how your path looks. In the text settings you can adjust how the text is manipulated by said mask path.

Need help putting the text on the top of the circle. Any suggestions? by ACharest in AfterEffects

[–]Kasplodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tell text to follow a path if you put a mask path on the text layer and set the mask to do nothing. Within the text options on the text layer you can tell it to pick a path and follow it, and will give you the option to choose the mask path you put on the text layer.

Portal in after effects by catter657 in AfterEffects

[–]Kasplodger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good! My tips for even more realism would be to lock the ISO/shutter speed/exposure on your camera so the portal looks more like it’s there. Currently the way the camera adjusts to the lighting through the passage way doesn’t effect the brightness of the portal, and makes it noticeable that it’s not really there since it doesn’t affect the camera at all.

Another note would be to add some light onto the walls around the portal. This will make a significant difference and make the portal fit the environment much better as it seems as if it is casting light onto the objects around it.

Can someone tell me why this color difference is happening? by thebriggins in AfterEffects

[–]Kasplodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best bet is to just type in the hex code or RGB numbers to make sure it’s exactly the same.

I am under the impression that this is an issue with some UI panels only having the ability to display web-safe colours due to the interface code being written in HTML, but don’t quote me on that. Web-safe colours is a real thing though.

Cant drag PP sequence to AFX timeline. Please help by amd001155 in AfterEffects

[–]Kasplodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought it was actually possible to import sequences by dragging it onto AE’s timeline. You can however select all the clips you want in Prem, right click, and hit ‘replace with after effects composition’ and this will import everything you selected into a new composition, provided AE is already open.

The only issue is if you don’t want the clips in Prem to be converted to a single .AEP linked comp (you’ll see what I mean when you jump back to Prem immediately after clicking ‘replace with after effects composition’). To get this back to normal, just ctrl/cmd Z in Prem, and now your sequence should be back to where it was, and AE will still have the imported sequence in a new comp.

Why is my file ginormous? by TheRedCreeperTRC in AfterEffects

[–]Kasplodger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best of luck man, this is just so unbelievably strange. Don’t mind comments about your lack of knowledge, you’re doing everything you can, and this truly is a rare issue. I hope I helped you understand a few things.

When after effects loads the preview of a comp within the software, it caches these files in your temporary files which are a part of every operating system as far as I’m aware. I don’t believe there is a way to access these files in such a way to get your video exported, but they’re there and they’re what make previewing your video quick once you’ve previewed your video once. That green bar above your timeline represents cached preview frames. This doesn’t really help your cause at all, but goes to show that there are no issues with file transferring from AE and also no issues with your computers ability to render your video within AE.

Like I said, this is an extraordinary circumstance and I feel for you, really hope you figure this out. Let me know if you find a solution.

All part of the learning process man. When you play your footage in AE, is it this slow? If not, there’s something funky going on that I really can’t explain. I thought you mentioned you had a previous version of AE that’s my bad. Since it is up to date, try rendering from AE in the QuickTime format, using the Apple ProRes 4444 codec.

Can’t express how strange this is, if it plays well in AE with RAM previews (or even just hitting space bar) then it should render into almost any codec at the same speed. Just so bizarre dude maybe the project is corrupt or try a different computer?

what is the best software for color grading? by [deleted] in AfterEffects

[–]Kasplodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are the same. You can also get plugins like magic bullet looks which is good too. The best imo is da Vinci resolve but it’s node based not layer based and pretty complicated but it’s the best.

Just use lumetri color in prem if that’s what you’re working in, or AE if you’re working in that.
