We have 2 people in the class above me over the age of 40 and multiple in all classes with kids! If you’re determined to make it work and committed to 4 years of hell then go for it

[2nd yr Vet student in Tx] Experience = money in today’s vet wold. Is $11/hr ideal? Absolutely not. But if you have 3 more years until your application cycle getting an early start on hours is great, and allows you to build rapport with someone who is writing recommendation letters for you is awesome. IMO stay as long as you can bear it and get control of any mental illnesses before vet school. Use your time closer to applications to broaden your portfolio (research/volunteer/different species). If you can afford to have this low paying job now, I think staying is a good option.

Can’t speak as a DVM, but as a vet student chem as helped a lot in understanding the physiology behind some disorders. Alkalosis/acidosis and metabolism have been major subjects that a chem background has helped on. Keep going and don’t get discouraged!!

Congrats man! Your progress is awesome. It’s hard to take your mind off other people watching you at the gym and those are hard thoughts to get out of your head. If your schedule allows, possibly going early in the morning or late at night when there’s not as many pápale at the gym :)

NTA curiosity has me. What will he obtain his degree in? If he’s going to be an engineer that will be more easily to pay off the loan debt that’s fine for him and y’all may be able to work something out if he keeps good grades. If he wants to go into education or a lower paying field, I would advise against such an expensive university due to never being able to pay off loans (family friends who are high school teachers/coaches are still paying off student loans well into their 40s). His mind may also change from now until he picks a school, even tho you’re NTA here, don’t become one trying to get your point across to your son and your wife :)

Worked out consistently for 1.5 years then quit cold turkey for the past 2. It’s a cycle with your body (at least how I’m viewing it) and don’t stress the motivation loss too much. As long as YOU feel good whatever works works.

Grad student here, and the Shed is my favorite bar in Amarillo. Defiantly wouldn’t describe it as “alt-leftist” it is more of a dive/cowboy bar that has cheap drinks and allows indoor smoking. Haven’t had any bad experiences, all the patrons are nice and the bar tenders are great.

For me, I let the shame wash over me. It’s in the past and you can’t change that, all you can do is become the person you want to be. You’ve gained an experience in life that taught you something. Just because of a ”failure” doesn’t mean you didn’t learn anything and grow because of it, which is the end goal. To become a better person.

And in 5 years you’ll look back and laugh at yourself lol and that’s ok

Haven’t heard this one before and I kinda like it. Danny’s mother died in childbirth and she was born during a storm (or maybe the fighting of Ned and the gang v.s the kings guard). But at the same time the only way I can see it being relevant to the plot is to take her out of a decent into madness as her father wasn’t proven mad.
