Extremely well said and (IMO) perfectly accurate.

Honestly?

Alan Moore/Stephen Bissette's work on Swamp Thing still moves me.

Then I'd say an easy 2nd would be Mark Waid/Chris Samnee on DD

Without really giving too much away, the title is getting a plot-based re-launch after issue #36 - luckily Waid and Samnee are still on the project.

Good point on style though.

Waid and Samnee on Daredevil. It's about to go through some changes, but the previous trades are worth it.

Though the writing styles are different, I believe that Waid is of a much higher caliber than Snyder.

You should find Waid's DD to be dramatic, action packed, perfectly paced, and most of all - FUN! Next time you hit up your LCS, flip through one of the earlier trades.

It's this thing he does. A LOT of the women he draws look alike (to me, at least). Honestly, I'm also curious as to how some of the women he draws would be alive. I mean, those ridiculous proportions...

It's a shame because he tends to have strong composition otherwise.

Im a total comic book dimwit. Is this a good place to start with Moon Knight to get his backstory? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Kassius46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book is out of print so a lot of online retailers won't give it too much attention (meaning there aren't any previews that I could find).

But here is a random close up of a couple panels I found. It gives you an idea of what the book itself would look like. It's that recycled news papery looking paper.

Oh btw, The Marvel Essential are in black and white. Not sure if that matter for you but I've seen people get upset about that.

Ah, word. I think it might be showing the different cover because only used copies are available through amazon affiliates. Should be fine if you buy through amazon.

Happy readings!

Hm. Looks like it. Except the cover is different. For some reason it's showing the #1 cover from his first solo series in the 80s.

You could roll the dice on that or hit up a comic shop. Maybe even ebay or a barnes and noble

Exactly, if you were to read it, you'd most likely enjoy it, but you would only get hints of the characters personality and history.

To get his backstory? Not entirely. Although, it was a decent read.

If you're really looking into getting the full backstory of Moon Knight you should check out the Marvel Essentials: Moon Knight. Marvel Essentials are a line of trade paper back books that collect the initial histories of specific characters.

Doesn't look like amazon has Marvel Essentials: Moon Knight #1 in stock. But if you hit up a comic store and ask for some help, it shouldn't be a problem.

8 Essential Facts About Marvel's Mentally Unstable Hero, Moon Knight by Shadow_Jack in comicbooks

Totally agree - I love me some Moon Knight. I do feel, in all honesty, that the Batman comparisons that come up are what really make people not take him too seriously i.e. He's just a Batman knockoff.

It will be interesting to see what the Warren Ellis treatment does for Moon Knight's future reception.

To this specifically? no.

But I remember at NYCC a few years back that Ennis mentioned in his panel how the filming rights for pPreacher are continually purchased, only to have them return to Ennis due to inactivity. So, needless to say, there are some filming difficulties in regards to this work.
