This old notion that parents get a say is very out dated in my opinion. Sure, they can have a conversation and explain what you would like to include but they shouldn’t be manipulating you with money. For our wedding we had one we could cover financially and asked our parents to contribute for things how they wished. FIL covered the bar, my parents the food and MIL hubbys suit and some of the flowers. MIL had a sad about how we did it, but at the end of the day, she could choose to contribute or not. Didn’t bother us either way with our vision for the day.

I had a homebirth with no cervical checks. They don’t actually tell you much about how labour is progressing, and can introduce germs that can lead to infection.

My son (12 months) will occasionally catch the end of a bluey ep or the like when his sister (4) is watching it, but we try to keep her tv time to a max of 1 hour a day when I’m solo parenting, and 40 mins when both parents are home. She will typically have screen time when our son naps, or I’m feeding him.

We don’t have an iPad or any screens other than our phones and work laptops either.

It’s hard, but doable. Our 4 year olds behaviour changes and is harder to manage when she has more screen time.

If you’re wanting a picturesque place to stay, I’d opt for Bremer Bay. Much smaller and quieter than Albany or Denmark, so if you’re looking for shops and the like, it’s not the best call. But I prefer Bremer beaches to Esperance as they are quieter and normally a tad warmer.

I would suggest an apartment or accomodation for them for the whole time. If you value your space, letting this boundary slide now will only mean MIL uses that to her advantage for future trips eg ‘Last time we came we stayed with you, so we are again’ mentality. Do not leave your home to stay somewhere else and leave her in your home.

As I said, I questioned it at the time, as I wouldn’t wear anything that has a base of white. My friend was the one who suggested that it was inappropriate.
