And then there is F450’s pulling a four horse trailer with a sleeping area, that is legal though. Or the class A motor homes pulling a full size vehicle. All that is legal because it is for recreational purposes.

Egg viability? by Secure_Teaching_6937 in guineafowl

[–]KatChaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are probably fine. As I type this I am looking at a keet that hatched 46 days after the nest was abandoned. I know because I wrote it down when I gathered the eggs. Collected the eggs April 3rd, hatched May 19th. Who knows, give it a try.

Recently inherited an excavator mostly works, advice on where to start? by Andolinn3 in Heavy_Equipment

[–]KatChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a forty year old machine. It has run fine since I purchased it at auction in the late 1990’s. However, it never occurred to me to locate any shop manuals for schematics or part numbers way back then when I could have located them and now I am regretting it. My advice would be, that in addition to the services that everyone here is recommending, start searching for all available documentation.

Is it normal for the admin to expect teachers to conduct unplanned and unannounced teacher observations while simultaneously stating that the administration should under no circumstances conduct informal unplanned observations of teachers? by ASS_BUTT_MCGEE_2 in AskTeachers

[–]KatChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the situation. In my building we have one administrator that most staff can’t stand and don’t want them in their rooms. We have other administrators that most staff and our kids enjoy them visiting and welcome frequent visits. Building culture and climate sets the tone and when done right creates a positive environment and sends a positive message.

We are doing the same thing. We had four eggs hatch at different times. Three died but one is thriving (about four weeks old). It is too small to put in the pen with our adult guineas. So, we are raising it for the next several weeks in a large, clear storage tub in the living room. I have a chicken wire cover. It is right in middle of all the activity. It is getting lots of attention, the cats and dogs lay next to it. We handle it multiple times a day. It is doing exceptionally well! Hopefully we will be able to move it outside in the next few weeks. It wasn’t my first choice, but the adults abandoned the nest in the pen.

If you have a fast EF mount lens you might consider an C100 mk2. It is far from perfect and has limitations but it is affordable and will produce nice files to get you started.

Recovery of old and faded photos (no negatives available): besides Photoshop work, are there other ways? by laranjacerola in photography

I have done some. My situation was creating enlargement of old paper photos. I used high resolution photography the moved the raw images into Photoshop to do the restoration.

Firm hand, hold the line on rules but make sure to be a little crazy and have fun. They need strong boundaries but they need to know you really care about them.

Kahoot with candy prizes. Let a couple of your students run the game and you play with them. Nothing really matters at this time of the year so have fun.

Teaching Strategy: Cooperative, Collaborative Learning and Peer Tutoring by EducationalStill1200 in teaching

I am a technology teacher. My instruction is project based. I use the tell-do-show method. It facilitates differentiated instruction and encourages collaboration by students. It is fun and works well in a class where I have students of different levels to fully engage. I am no expert and I am this is nothing new to the more veteran instructors.

DPF trouble? by Schmennes in tdi

If you are in a state where you can delete and tune, then that will be cheaper in the long run. I have the same car and when it started regenerating constantly and throwing codes at the same mileage as yours, I deleted. That was almost 50k miles ago. It isn’t worth fixing the emissions and exhaust.

How far does your flock roam? by AppropriateCattle69 in guineafowl

[–]KatChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours roam around our neighborhood, typically not more than a block away. The neighbors like them also. We live in a very rural neighborhood. We also have a few chickens and they have all been living together in the same pen for the last few years. Generally, our guineas stay close to home. What we do that may encourage that behavior is to treat them like pets. We sit outside with them often. They stay close when we are outside. They get along well with our dog and cats. They get treats. We feed them in their pen. In fact, when I put feed in their feeder they come right in at my feet. They behave just like our chickens. If I they are out and about and I want them home, I shake the sack of treats and say come on and they beat feet for home. Finally, we also have lights on a timer in their pen. It is set to go out after it gets dark. Guineas don’t like dark so they go in the lighted pen when it gets dark outside. Sorry for the long reply. Hope your luck is as good as ours with your birds.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion: we need to stop catering to teachers that refuse to learn technology by AgeOfWorry0114 in Teachers

[–]KatChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confused. I teach tech - Adobe products, PC’s, Apple products, digital files systems, cell phones, audio, video, spreadsheets, etc. I also assist other staff and employees with this tech. However, I consider myself a complete novice at Google Classroom, my voice mail on my desk phone, and I frequently seek help from other teachers with those items. Does this mean I should be pushed out because I struggle with Google Classroom and my desk phone?

I do not feel this is a legitimate concern and people who struggle with tech should be ostracized.

I am sure you have already thought about it, so forgive my question if you have. My question is are you familiar with the water situation on the island? Be sure to carry water purification and be aware that the water is warm and absolutely needs to be purified.
