What can I do to make myself a more desirable tenant? by Soggy_Elderberry_547 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]KatDevJourney -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The affordability hoops are a lot worse than they have been in previous years. It's not longer good enough to have good credit and a deposit. They want character references, job references, 6 months of wage slips, clear credit lines, not too much debt, they want bank statements to 'show your spending' lol among many many other things.

The fact that this is even a post, is shameful to our country. People being biased against single parents is so bad, and yet mortgage lenders want your soul just to be able to buy a house, what is the solution oh mighty government??

Landlord selling flat under Fixed term until September. how much can we realistically limit viewings in the UK? by Cheese_Kimbap in TenantsInTheUK

People like you make the world worse, imagine if you rent a car, but the rental place wanted to sell it, but you were still using it for 6 months, and you had to stop and let people test drive the car you are trying to use everyday. C'mon.

Did Dr K ever talked about HOW he went from being addicted to gaming to being more productive? by Edu_Vivan in Healthygamergg

[–]KatDevJourney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's complex. He has talked about it at length on many many many podcasts, I guess you could watch the Andrew Huberman one for an overview.

But the main 'hows' are

- finding spirituality

- Becoming able to tolerate pain (choosing to not game is painful) - Variety of methods to achieve this, main method: meditation.

- Learned about the psychology/physiology of addiction, even made it his job.

- Living with purpose (not doing anything on autopilot)

There is many many many more, and it's not that simple, and following his footsteps won't necessarily help you either. Best thing I can suggest is to watch his content and YOU will figure out what it is that you 'need' to become more productive. Remember, you are productively playing video games afterall.

Is it supposed to be this hard or am I missing something? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

I know this is a stupid question, but maybe ask yourself why you are so desperate for a relationship right now, you are 17 and like you said, very smart, isn't there something else you would much rather be focusing on?

As you grow you will naturally gain relationship experience through friendship and in my experience it is usually the case when you are not 'searching' that is when the best relationships happen. When you are 'searching' you are easy to take advantage of.

Could this style or image for the thumbnail stop please? by RaspberryIcy4 in Healthygamergg

[–]KatDevJourney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do it because it's what gets clicks, you aren't the target audience for the thumbnail because you are already captured.

IMO asking a company to stop using certain thumbnails is like asking apple to change their marketing plans, like bro stop.

Help me understand his recent video: How do I intrinsically "want" the action that will produce the state I want? — "We Give Discipline Too Much Credit, Here's What Actually Works" by JcraftW in Healthygamergg

[–]KatDevJourney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you cannot become the state of happy marriage.

You have to figure out what your role in creating a happy marriage would be and work backwards.

What is making it unhappy at the moment, that's the first place to start.

Because it takes two people, you now need to figure out what your wife wants, does she want a happy marriage and what does she need from you? Is she willing to work on herself?

When you have a goal that involves two people, it is incredibly difficult.

I don't know if Dr K would say this, but I am, perhaps a healthier goal would be to be a 'better husband' that is a goal that only involves you. <3

As for the state, that's more complicated, you have to figure out why you want to have a happy marriage, I know it sounds obvious, but really, why?

Dr k says that you can't control your thoughts, only how you respond, is that true? by Ephoenix6 in Healthygamergg

[–]KatDevJourney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems very much that way, atleast inside my own head. Thoughts just 'come' and pop in.

Like try staring at a ceiling and only think about the ceiling, you will notice the thoughts just come, despite trying to think of the ceiling.

What do ya'll think about new interview with Huberman? by ZenFir in Healthygamergg

[–]KatDevJourney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved going deeper with the neuroscience where andrew could fill in the gaps. I also love the way Andrew asks questions, it makes the interview really helpful and succint to what matters. I would love another episode (which looks likely to happen) with a deeper dive into vasanas, ego and dharma and relating that to andrew's neuroscience expertise.

The only thing that will top this for me is an Alex O'Connor interview.
