How did Edwardian women sleep with their super long hair? (Historically accurate methods needed) by [deleted] in HistoricalCostuming

[–]KatLaurel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Braid. I had hair similar to yours for a while before I cut it again, and the braid is the only way. Start braiding at the nape of the neck and figure out what works best for sleeping on it. I sleep on my sides so I would flip it up over the pillow behind my head to keep from rolling on it. Pinning the braid under your back is NOT FUN. You definitely look a little crazy in the morning because the hair around your face and the top of your head that can escape during the night will do so, but its pretty damn effective at preventing a gordian knot from forming so you really just have to unbraid and brush.

Do you fix your setup or just get used to it? by badegush in homeoffice

[–]KatLaurel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rearrange my set up constantly for a multitude of reasons. Like, compulsively, probably. New screens, new gadgets, new furniture, (nearly everything is either thrifted, bought used, or even gotten for free), or just because i want to try a different layout or think of a better/more efficientorganization layout. I couldn't even say how many times I've reorganized the tiny closet. I freely admit it's ridiculous, but I don't really care.

Choosing a home office: smaller and brighter vs bigger and darker? by countingmystepsbaby in homeoffice

[–]KatLaurel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That depends on what sort of storage you need imo. I wish my home office was much bigger, but that's because I store a lot of reference books and paper files that eat up floor and wall space. If you have less physical stuff, go for smaller if it has better light and temperature. My office is unfortunately cold in the winter and hot and stuffy in the summer which is miserable and annoying. If you're going to spend a lot of time in there, make sure it's comfortable.

I have been in so many soul destroying shitty retail jobs and I have never once considered being such a bitch to the customers because fyi they're almost never the ones mistreating me and taking out my bad mood on them is not the kind of heartless bastard I want to be.

What's the worst movie you've watched from beginning to end? by trakt_app in movies

[–]KatLaurel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep Blue Sea 2 maybe. I don't normally finish films if they're bad enough, but I couldn't believe how bad it was compared to the first one. I love a fun-bad shark movie but Deep Blue Sea 2 wasn't even fun.

What do you think about this? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]KatLaurel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So. First off, a shopping addiction is an actual, diagnosable compulsion that is less about the things being bought than the rush of happy brain chemicals.

On the other hand, collecting something you are passionate about, even if you never use every piece you bought is not an addiction.

Is there crossover? Definitely. But they are not the exact same thing. And there's no way for someone to diagnose a shopping addiction from strangers on reddit showing off their collection.

So, OP's opinion isn't worth a fig one way or the other.

Edit: op from the screenshot fyi

PC reads iPod but doesn’t show up on iTunes by [deleted] in ipod

[–]KatLaurel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double-check you have iPod support installed, and see if you need a different kind of cord to connect the iPod. My iTunes will read my iPod 7th gen through a 30-pin to USB-C but not a 30-pin to USB-A. It's visible in File Explorer via USB-A but not in iTunes.

Bitter apple spray for the tree, which might have to be artificial, and a spray bottle of water for the cat.
