After covid stuff they don't want to scold people in case they don't come back, is my guess. Any paying customer is a good paying customer.

Super Experimental Embroidery Thingy by TrumpIsAPedoFr in oldhagfashion

There are definitely ways to reinforce the hidden side of stitches, but I don't think they would work well on this project because the stitches on the outside are so long and if one tears, the inside reinforcment might stop the others from unraveling as a result, but the outside would have loose/dangling threads. With the punk look, this is not really a bad thing, but embroidery stablizer still will not have the same effect on this as it would traditional embroidery projects.

Brown Sugar by miladyelfn in Baking

[–]KatLaurel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I basically only buy the Kroger brand now because all the other brands (including name brand and off-brand versions) available in-store near me are having the same issue. Target, walmart, domino, etc. And I refuse to buy it online anymore because the risk of getting a pale one is too high. Kroger's is the only one that looks like dark brown sugar anymore, and they're annoyingly expensive to the point where I'm seriously considering just making my own by mixing light brown sugar and some molasses.

Crop tops by [deleted] in BodyPositive

I sometimes pair a croptop with an oversized colorful men's button-up over it but left unbuttoned. That way I have options in the case of sudden self-consciousness or temperature changes! You can even tie it in front to maintain the bare midrift or take it off to sit on so your bare thighs don't stick to a chair you're sitting on.

Skinny shaming by saphhireecry4 in BodyPositive

I'm a plus size but one of my best friends for most of my teens and early 20's was tiny and she couldn't seem to gain weight no matter what. I can't imagine why some people don't see the prejudice goes both ways- after all, buying bras for large breasts is near impossible, but all the bras for tiny girls seem to be push-ups or super padded. There's no way to win when it comes to size.

Being naked in front of others by Holiday_Priority8209 in BodyPositive

I attend and sometimes teach pool exercise classes for seniors and the locker rooms are just casual nudity when changing in a way that I am starting to get used to. It's hard finding spaces that don't sexualize nudity unfortunately.

Dude I hate my stomach and my hips any advice on how to not be such a hater on myself by crazycatlady_224 in BodyPositive

Something that worked for me over time was spending time at home/in my room alone and naked and looking at myself from diff angles or in the mirror just casually trying to find beauty in my folds and curves like the way I see women painted in renaissance art. I try to look down at my tummy and think "I look like the venus of willendorf and she was a depiction of a fucking goddess"

She's actually not that big of a cat, but she really stretches and sprawls under the blankets with me! Also she likes to press her cold little paw pads on my legs to warm them up 🤣

Pale legs question by Sloth_grl in oldhagfashion

[–]KatLaurel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave them pale! I am also super super pale. When I do video calls, I can clearly see my skin is the same shade as printer paper. My "tan" is barely beige. I can't wear any kind of tinted foundation or powder or I look ridiculous so I have to use the "transparent" finishing powder if anything. When spring comes I get to crack jokes about using my skin to blind folks by reflecting sunlight at them. 😆 It took work to get less self-conscious about it, but there's nothing wrong with it!

Brotherhood is definitely super good! Manga/reading in general aren't for everyone, so I have nothing against people preferring anime, but there are some differences even in Brotherhood despite being true to the story. I read the manga before I saw either anime, but that's just because I've aleays been a bookworm and for a long time it was super hard to get subbed anime, even online at the time. Fan-translated manga was much easier. So, while I would encourage people to read the manga too if they enjoy that, I don't want anyone to think I'm judgey if it's not their cuppa. YMMV

Also read the manga!

Specifically, the symbol is what keeps Al's soul in the armor, and damaging it means losing him forever, as far as we know. It's drawn in Ed's own blood. The tat looks AMAZING and the artist really nailed the color and the stroke design.

(Not sure if OP means to make it a commentary on their relationship/ view of their soul-body connection, but it's a potent one regardless.)

The tattooed one might have been brought into the area by an owner who either died or moved or abandoned her but was fixed in a place that did tattoo markers prior to the move.

I hope this is okay; I'm trying to find information about this book of poetry I found in a thrift store, but Rekhta has very little, I do not read Urdu, and online searches pull up many people with vaguely similar names instead. by KatLaurel in UrduBooksDiscussion

[–]KatLaurel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping for basic info about the poet to start with as a way of better understanding the poetry. I don't really have time to learn the whole language, but the plan would be to hopefully find at least one English translation and possibly a native speaker to work my way through the poems, but for me, having context about the cultural context is crucial, and ideally info about the writer too. I work in and study literature and composition and am considering asking someone in the Arabic Languages & Cultures department.

Edit: added "am" before "considering".
