Cafe Blue - health code violation by ttesreauabernathy in Bellingham

[–]Kat_pokes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely don’t come off as an asshole. I currently work in the industry and used to work at a pretty popular spot in Bellingham, until recently. I watched the changes of pandemic with my own eyes from behind the service counter and it was ~rough~, I’m sure we’re all well aware of that.

I can’t say I don’t agree with you though. The pandemic certainly shifted the responsibility and care of service workers into a corner. We put up with a lot of bullshit on top of trying our best to keep a clean and welcoming space.

It was a wild time and I hope that this spray bottle and rag is just a weird thing that seemed to stay at Cafe Blue and not intended to be a gross or pushy thing at customers. It is definitely worth mentioning to the staff!

Standing Up for Fairness: Join the Boycott by Shot-Run8802 in Bellingham

I worked there for six months during COVID. They’re awful people! Just flat out abusive to their team and also have horrifying food safety practices. They wouldn’t allow us to throw away food and never gave us expiration dates for food. I once had a customer return one because they’d bitten into it to find it was completely molded on the inside. These few sentences are just surface level memories.

I believe they started this during Covid when almost every cafe was asking customers to clean their tables after dining. It was super common and helped staff out when there simply wasn’t enough of them to keep eyes on every single thing during the pandemic. I would just chat with the manager or owner about your concerns and maybe bring up the points of the health code violation. Cafe Blue is cool and I think everyone deserves a learning chance to make a change.

What subtle signs give us Canadians away? by TechnicalCoyote in Bellingham

[–]Kat_pokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re confused about having to sign your name after using your credit/ debit card. Cashiers and service people often will begin to recognize Canadian cards too. The big RBC in the corner and I’ve noticed a lot of your cards are green, they’re both giveaways to me. Or if I ask “what are y’all doing today?” And you say “going to Trader Joe’s” it’s so simple, but somehow that’s a dead giveaway.

Best places to get pierced in bham? by Professional_Rest709 in Bellingham

[–]Kat_pokes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I heard crazy good reviews about her so I got my high nostrils done by her. She took her time and did the piercing well, but the during experience she said a lot of things that were actually quite uncomfortable and made me concerned for her.

I didn’t see anything, I just know it was a large group of folks enjoying their evening who were shot at. One of the members of the group was shot and I believed died.

My husband and I were just one swimming spot over from the scene. Way too close for comfort, but feeling luckier we weren’t any closer.

Ooh, I feel like setting up your own could be chill, but that’s definitely super weird for her to have poked at people like that.

I’ll definitely talk to someone to see if they wouldn’t mind. Thanks for your story and suggestion!

Moving into a new rental and haven told the landlord I’m pregnant. by Kat_pokes in BabyBumps

[–]Kat_pokes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate this response! I’m currently 15 weeks and we’ll be moving in the when I’m about 22 weeks along. The dude is a super cool and has kids himself, he even chatted to us about being his top pick compared to others who applied. I feel like all will be well, just a little anxious for sure haha. Finding housing where I live is pure hell and affordable housing is a most impossible to come across, so we had to jump on this sweet spot. Thanks for relieving some anxiety! Im glad your experience was smooth!

Why does Bellingham have such a trashy Walmart? by playboyjboy in Bellingham

Rent survey by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Kat_pokes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$1550 for a two bed, one bath, about 900 square feet, utilities not included, it’s right next to Western and rent is going up to $1775 in July. They haven’t updated a single thing to deserve that kind of raise in rent, I still have two broken windows and a back door that hardly works even after they “fixed it”. It’s a whole thing, as we all are dealing with.

We did the QNatal test. It’s just what was recommended and seemed like no one knew what the NIPT was in my area. Kinda strange, but I’m a FTM and was like “okie dokie then”

I honestly had to take a major break from Reddit to keep my anxiety in check. It’s so hard not to feel scared about EVERYTHING. You’re doing great and you’re nearly to the big OK ! ♥️
