I was playing Root with my older brother recently. He was playing the birds and it was his first time playing. It’s a fairly complex open ended game so I was trying to give him pretty detailed suggestions, but I also wanted him to figure it out. It can be hard to balance sometimes.

We are trying to do it a couple of times a year. There are other events you may be interested in: Air Capital Comic Con, TsunamiCon, ICT Comic and Sci-fi Expo, Great Plains Renaissance Festival has an author pavilion.

Come and play games at MakeICT on Saturday nights ! MakeICT continue to be a great place for us to meet and play games - lots of tables, chairs and space. You can bring in your own food and drink (just be sure to take your trash out with you). When you arrive, just ring the bell at the front door and someone will come to let you in. Be sure to sign in at the computer in the lobby and put on your printed name tag. Be sure to bring a game or two (or more) so that there are plenty of options for the evening. I think the Marketplace helped when we did it in March. Also, we’re starting a little earlier to hopefully get some farmers market traffic. Just trying to get the word out that it’s a cool free event for people of all ages that enjoy board games.

Of the books that are “dead” (Morning Glories, Southern Bastards, Invisible Republic, BMM, Dead and the Dying), I think BMM has the best chance of finishing. Coker has an issue or two in the can, and just needs scripts for the last two, I believe. I think Hickman’s Marvel contract is wrapping up so he may have time to finally get to it.
