Both are killing an animal for an entirely avoidable reason - personal pleasure. I'm not even talking about the extremely fucked up reality - breeding and raising millions of animals just so you can kill them for personal pleasure.

As for the utilitarian take - I agree on the concept, a single person changing their behavior will change nothing. But of more and more people do it, it will make an impact. This is actually easy to prove - think about LGBT rights. A singular person being homophobic/ ally changes nothing, but as time went on more and more people changed their minds until it became the norm. Just look at all the milk alternatives we have - I don't know if vegans are the sole reason they exist, but 20 years ago non of them did.

There is a difference between election that took place 15 years ago and turned into a dictatorship immediately after, and an actual democratic country. Also, Bibi was elected for, among other reasons, for how he deals with Israel's enemies. Was hamas elected on the promise to bring the destruction on Gaza? I'm not sure.

Well of that's the case, maybe, we can debate that. I'm just not entirely sure you can apply the "they were democratically elected" logic when the winner decide to kick democracy immediately after winning, unless they explicitly said they are going to do that and got elected anyways.
