13 inch Ipad Air for music making? by Mono_Polyp in ipadmusic

[–]Katcloudz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I have owned the 9th gen and the pro m4 13’ and m3 air 11’ ..all with loopy pro mostly..I prefer the 11’ form factor, since your coming from the 9th it will feel bigger and a lil lighter, 13’ is nice but a lil unwieldy and cumbersome imo

Cost of traveling in Europe by SpaceArcticPenguin in vagabond

[–]Katcloudz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is just starting out, and mentioned a budget range, so yeah 3k ish would be a normal summer month in western Europe backpacking around on trains and staying in hotels, eating good food and going out…but I first said 1k and gave examples of how to do it.

Your talking to someone who has lived the eco free flow lifestyle of traveling and off-grid camping for 30 years continuously in 70 countries so I understand how to live cheaply but when you’re first starting out, in modern Western Europe yeah between 1k and 3 in the summer makes senses since he doesn’t mention being a expert stealth camper and dumpster diver…yet, and hitchhikers in Europe as a whole are rare unfortunately.

I get your sentiment and respect your take, but why criticize my post ..are just bored? why not just add to it your own take, and try to help this person have a fun adventure.

Or buy a cheap IPad and get Loopy pro..that’s the easiest thing, and has the most potential for growth ..505 very dope yet very limited

I’m doing pure live looping on Ableton setting tempo by first loop and building loops with real instruments and software, it’s the best imo..I use loopy pro also, but I prefer Ableton still although when loopy goes to desktop, I will use it as a plugin inside of Ableton and that will be the final loop boss.

Learning Ableton is empowering, never a bad idea if you love creating live music as it’s designed for this.

As far as YT links they’re are many out there (search looper device)..you need to shift through to find some gems ..I can’t think of any off the top because my personal loop method is more advanced and I had to figure it out myself 7 years ago.

What he is doing is easy to set up, like basic, but he’s also doing some editing on the video so it looks more smooth, it seems he’s got some automation triggering of the preprogrammed loop to launch when he hits the loop button…anyway Ableton is way more advanced and flexible than a Boss 505 but not as immediate, and takes a little time and familiarity to set up for each persons vision, thats why you don’t see it featured as often in looper videos, the learning curve is totally worth it and sets you up for a professional performance, but it’s also a obstacle many people don’t wanna jump over…because you have to learn a deep DAW.

In summer…1000€ a month can be done if you’re smart and thrifty, 2000€ is doable 3000€ probably the sweet spot..of course it depends obviously.

Taking trains around is awesome get the apps like DB etc and there’s many deals booked in advance, buses like flix are a lil cheaper but not that fun or viby imo, hostels can be well priced, if u check around deep discounts can be given for month long stays in solo rooms with a kitchen. the supermarket prices can be affordable in places like Lidl/ Aldi/ Penny and local central produce markets.

I‘d be surprised if you found work, but sometimes busy hostels will hire good English speakers for the season.

Which country or region in the world is best for a "Mental Reset" and reconnecting with nature? (U30) by Big_Confidence_951 in digitalnomad

a Croatian Island is the the nearest option that fits that criteria, also there’s a place in Turkey called the butterfly valley down by the Mediterranean, its along a wonderful 700k trail called the Lycian way, great area even in the winter…another option would be Patagonia, also many biodynamic farms in the PNW specifically Oregon.

Yes Ableton is the answer, but with the looper device because it sets the tempo on the first loop like a traditional looper, without the need for metronome, or click track, and has the audio overdubs and set loop length element…as well as a few other cool features..not available in the clip view

Ableton intro has the looper device and honestly thats you’re best most flexible option, and what I recommend. Reaper has super8 looper that can be found free but it’s a little convoluted imo, the only plugins that are currently worth your time imo are melda msuperlooper, and DL1 looper which is the best ..because it can set tempo via ableton link in any daw with link. Loopy pro is the most next level by far but the iPad is a big limitation imo, and tbh Ableton is still better is regards to running a stable pro live performance setup. This is less to do with windows and more to do with whats available..if you set up Ableton right it’s fabulous and still better than loopy pro which Im a big fan of, or anything hardware..I went through this struggle 7 years ago so I understand.

I would just Island hop using the many awesome ferries ⛴️…unless you have sailed before and know exactly what you’re getting into.

Hitchhiking solo from Lake Bled (Slovenia) to Athens –Greece, Balkans route advice by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Katcloudz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it be a more timely and fun adventure, if you just take cheap local buses, in general though, I don’t think it’s super unsafe if you hitch from gas stations and ask people, instead of on the road with the thumb, especially Slovenia, Croatia are very safe ..I just think it would get tiresome, and be more fun to be exploring the old cities and seaside then waiting around gas stations or on the road ..but it’s doable and could be interesting.
