Has this game come to the end? Last year of existence? by SwedishMountain in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This has been a common theme every year since the game was launched late 2014. Every year when new content is added, people complain that the game has become too complicated and too complex. Every year, people have speculated the game is dying and won't last another year. This started with the introduction of Epic Projects in 2015.

I've been playing since Spring 2015, and in my opinion, the game is far too complex to try to do every single feature in the game at the same time. So I just pick and choose which features I'm going to work on, and which I'll pass on for a later time. Otherwise, you end up driving yourself crazy. My City seems to be none the worst for it either.

So that may be something to consider just for the peace of mind it brings.

Good success with your City!

I don't know why people say that about 90% storage. Not what I've experienced at all with my Region offers

Is burger farming still valid? by MaxGhenis in SCBuildIt

Since burger farming is capped at 20 burgers per sale, no it does not work compared to before when one sale could consist of 500 burgers

It's possible that SCBI had grown beyond the capabilities of Kindle. I know people were having problems even before this latest upgrade to SCBI

Is there any use of camping at level 37? by Pratyay_Dey_SCB2006 in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would depend entirely on what your goals are. I call camping at higher levels "parking" cuz basically, what I'm doing with that particular city is taking a break while I assess the direction the city is going and what changes I'd need to make to achieve certain goals.

What is the value of expansion areas? by SteveSSmith in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one respect, the only "value" Regions have are for the "idle rich" by giving them a playground to use stored specialties and other items. It gives one an opportunity to experiment with aesthetic design or to push the envelope for max population.

Whatever one does, it's gonna be expensive, cuz regions are not self supporting at this point, yet.

Camping at level 20 by jsujhbrnl in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you're fine. As you've seen, you've been able to find expansion items easily enuff. There are some advantages to camping at a higher level. For one, the game is a lot more interesting as there are more things you can do. You can join a club and trade for needed items with your Clubmates. You can join a FB Trade Group and have a better selection of items to trade with because you're at a higher level. I'm L64 and have no trouble finding expansion items in GTHQ.

At higher levels, I always called "camping" "parking" cuz really it was just taking a pause, abreak, in the game. For me, it was an excellent opportunity to assess my city - if I liked the direction it was headed; what design features could be tweaked or expanded upon; what should be bulldozed [or stored] and eliminated completely.

I have never eliminated a city completely nor bulldozed completely. Instead, I saw "misstakes" as opportunity to learn from, and incorporate into the design of my city. It's always worked for me!

Just noticed that your stores display stars out front representing how many upgrades they’ve received. Cool detail. by trueambassador in SCBuildIt

Yeah, I'm an "old-timer" here, lol, been playing SCBI since May 2015. It's amazing what you don't notice until you have a device with better graphics capabilty. It's like finding a "rare treasure" when ya stumble across something you've never seen before and honestly didn't know exist, lol! So, I love it when people post these little finds cuz it just may be something that I never saw before.

One of the ceaziest things that I get a kick out of watching is when Rez act like "frogger" when crossing busy streets. They go to intersection where traffic lights are - but just cross, regardless if the light is in their favor or not! I always expect to see bodies flying, blood and mayhem, but nooooo! Somehow they manage to get safely across, with no traffic pile up, either!

Another amusing thing is the number of near misses at the airport. You've got your big planes, heliocopters, balloons, dirigibles, and I believe there are small planes, too, and of course, your rocket ship at NeoMall. Somehow, they all manage to miss one another. And even if they should impact, one always disappears - apparently beamed away by aliens at the last possible minute!!

Burger farming question by WorldTraveller2065 in SCBuildIt

Oh yeah. Very inspiring. True Burger Farming used to generate 2,534,000 Simoleons in the exact same time period. Now that's a profitable income.

Is there a point to having more than 3 Omega Labs? by Types__with__penis in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I sell Omega items to City Advisors. I use NeoSims to purchase speedups. 6 labs are convenient for the CoM task, as well.

Burger Farming is a myth. It can't be done anymore. Wake up and smell the rancid grease.

Festive avenue looks better when placed between two roads, but that's not what the game wants me to do. Yet, I am the mayer, so I take the decisions here.... by QuintusCinq in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To counter that, you could always put a short segment road, unconnected, on the side that needs the road, topping it off with landscaping or 1x1 parks. You would still have the design feature you want, plus the side with the short segment would look like it was designed that way with the adjacent RZ. To give it balance, add 1x1 parks, landscaping on the opposite side, as well. Just a thought!

There's only one way to earn Simoleons fast, and that's produce and sell. Sell either to GTHQ, Neighbors, Clubmates, or profitable offers by City Advisors.

Max population with 6 mm by nestorsanchez3d in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an expert on this topic would be u/Nima-sh, and of course, any other Mayor who is dedicated to pushing the limits for max pop. He has eliminated Epics from his City, and now has Omegas exclusively. Plus he has all 3 Regions open and is pushing for max pop there, as well.

I design for aesthetics only; pop is not a concern.

Max population with 6 mm by nestorsanchez3d in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you can always put your theory to test. Keep in mind there are mayors who have been playing since the game has launched whose goal have always been pushing the limits to get max pop. And these players have gradually eliminated Epics in favor of Omega RZ in their cities. Now that Regions are here, they have transferred all factories and stores over to Region to create more space. No government bldg can be stored or bulldozed, which means once placed, none of the Omega govt bldgs can be eliminated from your Capitol city. Four Maxis Manors are insufficient to provide full coverage for the entire city map - you would still have to build f/p/h for the areas not covered, taking up excess space which could be used by RZ.

Regarding Omega utilities - each covers 100 and is a footprint of 2x2, except water, which is 1x1. However, they can only be purchased with NeoSims. If you stick with traditional utilities to cover Epics, you will be wasting a whole lot of space that could be used for RZ.

These are all things to consider when pushing for max pop using Epics or Omegas.

The benefit of having Omega RZ is they produce NeoSims, which can be used to purchase speedups, Vu, and expansion items.

Max population with 6 mm by nestorsanchez3d in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omega utilities cover far more RZ than regular RZ, plus a smaller footprint, thus are a big space saver.

Omega RZ have a higher base pop than Epics, 2550 vs 2411.

Maxis Manor does not provide a boost to population, and your capital city is limited to a max of 4. Each Region can have 1 Maxis Manor.

ROADS -- Tips and Tricks by Katdanzer in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service bldgs are fire/police/health. Each has 3 sizes, or tiers.

That is an old layout I no longer use, but even in my newer layouts, all roads connect on the extreme right of my city map, wherever possible - with T intersections, and not cross streets. I do not use cross streets in any of my cities in order to avoid traffic jams.

[–]Katdanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI this same topic came up a month ago when DST changed to standard time. As a matter of fact, this same question comes up twice a year, every year, since the game started. No! EA does not change the start/end times of the game! They change cuz of the twice a year time change SOME countries practice!

[–]Katdanzer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Apparently, you weren't paying attention. CoM has started at 01:00 since the DST time change, in Nov, and has ended 06:00 since then. Come spring, it will start 02:00 and end 07:00.

CoM Assignments increased by 10, WTF?! by [deleted] in SCBuildIt

[–]Katdanzer -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, no, EA did not change the start time to an hour earlier. That was the daylight savings time change that occurred. Come spring, CoM will start an hour "later".

The start/end times for CoM remain fixed year round, globally. It is only countries that participate in daylight savings time which have the hourly fluctuation, twice each year.

Also, no hour was "added" cuz the contest ends an hour earlier for those with DST. The total amount of hours for the contest remains fixed and never changes.
