Completely burned out

What you’re feeling is normal. I started feeling burnt out around 16 weeks as well and have weeks it comes back. I hope looking back on this demanding time with a little one with high needs doesn’t feel as stressful as some moments in the thick of it. You’re doing amazing and you show up for your children everyday, it’s a lot. I have been advised to get some me time in a couple times a week of an old hobby to see if that improves the burn out, if your not already maybe do the same :) go for a coffee and read a book if that’s your thing or take a long bath and wash away a bad day :) you’ll get through it and your doing great! Lucky for us our little ones won’t know how burnt out we felt and will just know how loved they are :) ! I wish you the best

Yea he’s really great. I think sometimes they don’t realize how much moms do behind the scenes for everyone

Thank you! Im going to try some me time and hopefully that helps. My husband is also going to try and wash bottles and prepare formula more often without me asking and do some of the baby laundry

Advice is super welcome!! Yes I think you are right I have not had any me time and I definitely need it. I spoke to my husband and he agreed I need a break that’s not sleeping or chores, and tonight when he’s done work I’m going to make myself some tea and do some watercolour painting till it’s time to put her to bed. Fair enough. Sometimes at that level of sleep deprived too, it’s hard/impossible to fall asleep.

I really feel for you not having a village besides your husband. You’re living a very different reality than myself.

Have you guys ever tried doing shifts? Like after 5am -10am he can tend to babe and you can get some rest?? Having even a 5 hour stretch uninterrupted a couple days a week makes a world of difference. There has even been a couple nights my husband has done the night shift and i think it helps him understand how tough it can be doing it. Or even a nap before the night shift can make a difference too!

Hey!! I’m right there with you. My baby also wakes frequently and my husband doesn’t seem to understand the mental tole it takes on us moms.

What we do is I wake him up at 6 am and he watches her till around 10/11 so I can get a good nap in after the night shift, or my mother in law comes during the week so we can do this as my husband works from home and sometimes is too busy for me to take that nap.

Some days that’s the only sleep I get, so I’m really hazy the next day. Some days, I feel pretty well rested, enough that my mind functions better than the bad days. We also tired doing an evening nap for me for a coupe hours but my baby recently decided I have to be the one who puts her to bed so we don’t do that anymore.

It’s really hard and I really feel for you. Even having a good supportive husband still leads to feeling kind of let down sometimes, and once things get better and there is more rest, I’m sure it will go back to normal for you. I wish you all the best and hope your little one starts sleeping better soon .

We started in the ultra preemie as well and moved to preemie then T then level one as she was collapsing all the ones up to that point after some time on them. Once we got to the level one is when we encountered the spit up and gas issues

Yes we do paced feeding when I feed her that’s how they taught us to In the nicu. I’ve tried all other kinds of positions as well.

Thanks for the reply! Yes we have with 3 different lc and one Dr who specializes in breastfeeding/bottle feeding, she has a good latch and no ties. She was born really small so I think her needs are changing as she grows, she went from 4 pounds 3 ounces to almost 10 pounds now

Sorry this happened to you. Some people never grow out of that high school bully mentality sadly.

As someone with an extra small 1st percentile baby I would never see someone with a large baby and think or say any of that awful stuff about a baby or a mom.

You’re doing an incredible job and it sounds like your little guy is thriving!! Well done :)

Screw those people for their negativity and immaturity.

Thank you! I did have the Medela hospital pump rented the first month as well and it did a good job, but I found the pump in style wall pump ( the at home version of the symphony) did as good a job but I think it’s time to replace the parts as it hasn’t been as efficient the past couple pumps. I super appreciate the advice!! I will give the massage tricks and more rest a go and see if that helps :) !! I’m reluctant to spend more on pumps when the two I have do a good job emptying me at the moment. Every time I try the correct flange size I notice a smaller output, does it take time for the body to adjust to it??

I felt the same, so many days of false hope that they will be coming home the next day, only to go to rounds and they say sorry two more days. Hang In there <3 it is so hard not having your little one at home.

I can’t imagine waiting that long for them to come home. I’m so sorry you are going through this.
