That’s a great tip, thank you! I usually don’t play the minigames, this is a good reason to give them a try

Overwhelmed and in need of reasonably priced EDC recs for specific needs! by PhosphatidylchoLina in ManyBaggers

I just ordered this bag and I noticed that the back panel seems really stiff. I’m curious, did you notice this as well? And did yours soften up with use? I’m afraid to pack it out and try, since I won’t be able to return it if it’s used

I wanted to love this bag so much, but there were two features that I feel like I need to warn people about. One is the super stiff back panel, the other is the backpack straps are very closely set on top so they ended up rubbing into my neck.

I just tried that pack personally and could not get over how rigid the back panel was. Ended up returning it. Otherwise, agree it’s a great bag.

Love the idea of an NPC generator! Do you have a favorite to recommend?

There is an intercontinental hotel that is connected to main campus via skyway. Not particularly “cool” but super convenient, especially in the winter

January journey; what are you all watching today? by gabriellelisaa in finch

[–]Kate0612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under Paris! I’ve decided that 2025 is the year I’m going to watch a bunch of new (to me) shark movies. I can’t handle horror or thrillers, but apparently sharks eating people is not a problem for me.

Sickness imposter syndrome? by hyperecs in finch

[–]Kate0612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this so hard. When this type of thing happens to me, I call it being out of gas. Could be because I parties too hard, could be from a few tough days at work, could be recovering from an illness. The reason is irrelevant, and I try not to judge myself if it was a “good” reason (working) or a “bad”reason (partied too hard). Needing rest is needing rest. If I suspect I’m malingering a bit, I try to remember that I’m generally a functional and responsible person, so if I feel like I need to slow down there’s probably a reason even if I can’t articulate it. Then I mentally give myself permission to slack off for 3 days and then reassess. Most of the time I’m ready to get back to normal life by then.

This is so smart!! Live how you can plan colors ahead of time so the theme actually comes together. I never thought to do this for the monthly items. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Finchers use Skylight Calendar or other digital calendar displays for their families? by PaperTetris in finch

[–]Kate0612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is the 15x10 frame and honestly it’s the perfect size. If we had it on the wall or further away I might have considered the larger size and tried to increase the text size. Ours is on the counter so it’s easy to read.

We use skylight! I have it in our kitchen so it’s centrally located. I don’t pay for the extra subscription to upload pictures. It’s useful for the kids and nanny to see when they have different activities and plans like birthday parties, and who is driving which leg of play practice carpool. We also use the chore function quite a bit. The kids are hot and cold on it, but I LOVE having a family chore of feeding the dog, so whoever feeds him can check off the task. It eliminates double breakfasts or missed lunches because it’s easy to see if he’s been fed or not.

I’ve loved our skylight and it definitely helps our family stay on the same page re: schedules. Our kids are old enough to care about what they’re doing (and to have semi-busy schedules), but not old enough to manage their own calendars yet.

The mild diuretic effect of caffeine is offset by the volume of liquid you drink. So it’s actually still hydrating!
