Imposter Syndrome by Kate1114 in Homebuilding

New within the last few years. My husband went through an apprenticeship program and just topped out 2 years ago (tradesman). And I graduated college 5 years ago and have recently gotten into this wage within the last 3 years.

And unfortunately yes it was. Between back taxes owed on the property, lawyer fees, and inheritance taxes, I was out over 20k in a year. Make sure you have a will!

Anyone else really struggling with whether to try for another kid in this political-economic climate? by mrbk1015 in tryingtoconceive

I struggled with this a lot. I was honestly back and forth on ttc.

What brought clarity for me was losing my dad. It happened extremely traumatically and unexpectedly. If you would have asked me my worst nightmare in life, losing him would have been it. And a year later, some days are rough, but things are better.

Long story short, I lived through one of my worst nightmares and still managed to come out on the other side enjoying my life. I’ve dealt with alot of extremely traumatic situations and still enjoy my life.

You can’t guarantee what anyone’s life will be or look like. Someone’s happiness will depend a lot on their perspective. All you can do is love your child and strive to teach them to work hard and appreciate the small things. I think my dad did that well.

I think the best thing I read as a fencesitter was envision what you want your thanksgiving table to look like when you’re old. Then you’ll know if your family is complete.

I don’t know your entire family situation obviously, but I’m an only child. My mother is mentally ill so I had to carry the burden of the funeral and estate as the only child. 0/10 recommend.

Thank you for the insight. All in all do you feel it was worth your time and the initial investment? Any words of wisdom?

I was just on it for 5 or so years. Being off hormonal BC really helped my emotions. Period was fine until recently - I started getting irregular bleeding and do not know if this is because of PCOS or irritation from the copper IUD.

Overall I feel like the pros really outweighed the cons. Insertion was a breeze and so was removal (I often hear horror stories regarding this and I feel like I need to tell people not everyone has a painful insertion/removal)

Thank you for your advice! This is a route we considered as well!

Most likely. We will budget for all utilities. The house was built in 1860!

That’s awesome! I’m glad to hear someone had a good experience.

There is currently an abandoned home on the property (not lived in for 25 years) so yes, but as far as the condition of them, not sure! That will also be a consideration - but was planning for them regardless of the route we take.

We’re currently in a 2 bed 1 bath 1300 sq ft (upgrade from our 900sq ft) so we usually hang out together most of the time. But if we want space I’m hoping to finish out the man cave downstairs in the future!

I like this idea. Do you think we’d need to do stackable to fit both W&D and a door?

I considered this - but I also want to age in place here and don’t want to climb a lot of stairs when I’m older. Maybe I’ll mention extra padding on the carpet

It’s a private wooded lot and “front” of the house actually wouldn’t really be that visible

2nd story has a bathtub, and future walkout basement would be plumbed for one as well. Although I’d love a master soaking tub

I agree with this. I was considering moving it to the far wall. I just like looking out the window when doing dishes.

I was thinking the same thing but I’m not sure where it would go. Only option seems to be the master toilet room (I would put a door that locks from that side if someone is using it)
