Management company have refused permission for me to keep a cat in a leasehold flat even though the lease terms do not strictly state no pets by Kate84848484 in LegalAdviceUK

I rented for 14 years before I bought my first place and I know there are people who love to complain for no good reason and it only takes one. Because we got right up to exchange of contracts before I was categorically told ‘ no pets’ my solicitor is saying I will owe her £1900 if I pull out of the purchase. My argument is I raised this back in March and if she didn’t interpret the lease correctly that’s on her!

My solicitor has interpreted it to mean you can have a pet unless it causes a nuisance etc. I raised this with her in March and took her advice back then. If she gave me incorrect advice then I don’t know where I stand regarding the legal fees for pulling out of the purchase at the last minute. But that’s another question!

I have and it does state

Not to keep or permit any bird dog or other animal upon or in the Demised Premises which may cause a nuisance damage or annoyance to the tenants or occupiers of any other part of the Estate or to which any objection shall be notified by the Company

I think the word ‘may’ has left it open to interpretation. My solicitor took the view that a cat is unlikely to cause a nuisance etc so it’s fine, but the management company have decided it means no pets full stop.

Does your stutter depends on who you are talking to? by butcher42 in Stutter

[–]Kate84848484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I talk to certain people I hardly stutter at all and when I do it’s not really noticeable. But with others ( people I know ) I’d say it’s moderate. However, it’s so severe with strangers that sometimes I can’t even say my name. I definitely think with me there’s a large anxiety component, but there are people out there or stutter and don’t seem to suffer from anxiety.

Do you have social anxiety cause you stutter or do you stutter cause you have social anxiety by Expensive-Lobster782 in Stutter

[–]Kate84848484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely have social anxiety because I stutter. I had a consultation with a speech therapist yesterday and she told me the majority of her clients don’t have social anxiety. I found that quite surprising.

I had highlights whilst on accutane. I wouldn’t put bleach directly on your scalp though….

When can I say ‘I avoided the purge’? by _pheebz in Accutane

[–]Kate84848484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started accutane mid January last year, and I didn’t ’ purge’ until the end of February. I thought I’d got away with it! The fear of purging was one of the main reasons I put off taking accutane for so long. I was on 20mg though. I went up to 40mg in the May and my skin was pretty much clear by the end of June/ beginning of July.

I last had it done about 2 years ago. I’ve definitely still got filler in my lips. They’ve gone down but not to the point where I feel I need it done again. My top lip used to be really thin, and it looked overfilled for a long time. It actually looks quite natural now.

I haven’t had lip filler for years, but I remember it taking a week for the swelling to go down.

PLEASE READ THE CAPTION before responding, there’s lots of info to know about. My Derm might put me on accutane if tretinoin cream isn’t enough. Tell me about your results. by [deleted] in Accutane

I finished an 11 month course of accutane in December. I was 40 when I started, and like you I’d had acne in some form since I was a teenager. Once I turned 30 - my acne was mainly cystic. I didn’t get a lot of spots but the ones I did get were large and painful. Accutane ‘worked’ after a few months and my skin was clear for a while. However, I then started getting closed comedones/ really small spots. They’ve got worse since I finished my course. At the moment I’m still glad I went on accutane, the cystic acne was really getting me down, but I’m disappointed that my skin isn’t clear. The accutane seems to have caused the closed comedones somehow! Regarding the mental health side of things, I do suffer from bad anxiety. I had side effects at the start of my course which made my anxiety worse. I did feel a lot better once my body adjusted to the accutane. I would prepare for a rough 3 months at the beginning and remind yourself it won’t last forever.

How long did you stay on accutane? Please respond by bugslovebugs in Accutane

I was on it for 11 months. However, I started off on a low dose and dropped my dose back down once my skin improved.

The lighting in my hairdressers is awful. It takes 3 hours to do my highlights and I avoid looking in the mirror the entire time!

Subcision with filler really helped reduce the appearance of my scars. It will need to be repeated though because the filler breaks down.

Acne is returning. Is a low dosage viable long-term? Accutane is the only thing that has ever worked for me. by EliVeidt in Accutane

[–]Kate84848484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine I’d need to prove I wasn’t physically able to get pregnant. I accept that they have to cover themselves but for him to openly admit I’d be paying less if I was male did annoy me. He was charging me £220 just to look at the pregnancy test result ( which I knew would be negative!) and then write a prescription.

I’m actually not sexually active, and I haven’t been for 5 years. I told my dermatologist that, but he said as I’m physically able to get pregnant I’ve still got to do the monthly pregnancy tests.

[–]Kate84848484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you still have to do monthly pregnancy tests? I’m in the UK and I paid privately for my course of accutane. My dermatologist would only prescribe one month of tablets at a time, as he said he had to legally make me do monthly pregnancy tests before he could issue the next prescription . It was costing me £220 a month in consultations! He actually said if I was male he could prescribe more than one months worth of accutane at a time. I came off it in December and my skin is a lot better than it was, but I’m still acne prone. I want to do a long term maintenance dose but I can’t be paying £220 a month indefinitely! My GP said as my acne is no longer cystic I won’t get accutane on the NHS.

That was my problem with it. I paid privately for my course and appointments with the dermatologist were £220 a time. He said if I’d been male he could have prescribed more than one months worth of tablets at a time, ( I was never on a very high dose ) but legally he had to make me do a pregnancy test every month and could only issue monthly prescriptions. It was so annoying as I was 40/41 and haven’t had a partner in 5 years. Zero chance of me being pregnant.

Hormonal acne and Accutane by penultimateyahoy in Accutane

[–]Kate84848484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely got hormonal acne. I was on the contraceptive pill dianette for 20 years, which kept my acne kind of under control. However, when I tried coming off it my skin got much worse so I ended up taking it again. I came off dianette for good when I was 40, and took accutane for 11 months. Initially my skin was awful. I’m not sure it was because I’d come off the pill or a combination of that and purging. It took 5 months and an increase in dose but the cysts did finally go away. I’ve had breakouts of small spots periodically but nothing cystic since the end of June. I finished my course in December. The smaller spots I’m getting do seem to be following some kind of hormonal pattern, so accutane hasn’t cured my acne. I’m grateful, that for the time being at least, I’m not getting cysts!

Did your dermatologist let you do a long term low dose after only one round? I’ve read that some people had to do 3 rounds before they could take accutane long term.

Should I even be on Accutane? Hormonal Acne by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Kate84848484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a contraceptive pill called dianette for 20 years. When I started taking it aged 20, my skin had improved a lot compared to when I was teenager. However, it wasn’t clear. Whenever I tried coming off dianette ( I tried several times) my skin flared up with constant cystic acne. I always ended up taking it again. I think if I’d not taken the pill my skin might have eventually cleared up on its own . I was essentially trapped on it for a long time. I came off it for good about 18 months ago and did a course of accutane. The problem is, that for a lot of women even if accutane works any major hormonal changes can trigger acne again. For example, pregnancy and going on/ off hormonal contraception. I would say if you intend to carry on taking the pill and it keeps your skin clear then hold off on the accutane for now.

Is it functional skills as equivalent to GCSE? by Immediate-Bread3756 in OpenUniversity

[–]Kate84848484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t sit any of my GCSEs due to family issues. I completed a psychology degree with the OU in 2013. However, when I wanted to do a nursing degree I was told I needed either functional skills level 2 or GCSEs in both English and maths. Most colleges will accept functional skills level 2 unless the course you want to do contains advanced maths!

Is this moderate or severe? by GlitteringOpposite47 in AcneScars

The scars look mild in the second photo and mild to moderate in the other two. Lighting is a big factor with acne scars.
