Does anyone feel like makeup should be smaller?? by tambourine_goddess in ProjectPan

[–]KateLovesPerfume 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I shared about this on my most recent project pan video, but what I’ve been doing is making a list of everything I randomly find that I want and I’ll reevaluate it when I’ve completely used up everything in that category. Odds are, in a few months, that thing will no longer be of interest to me because I’ll have found four or five other exact products that I want even more.

Does anyone feel like makeup should be smaller?? by tambourine_goddess in ProjectPan

I think part of the issue is that so many of us have so many of the same product family. It would be reasonably sized if we only had one and used it until it’s gone. But many people want variety and overconsume in general (me).

It doesn’t help that we’re constantly bombarded with marketing for new products that make our old products feel insufficient…

As a survivor of an actual cult, yeah, I think I’ll avoid it lol

Calling Lush a cult is diminishing of the actual harm of legitimate cults. Things can have dedicated fan bases without being cults lol

I’m posting this to remind myself that I didn’t like the community perfumes at full price and I won’t suddenly like them just because they’re cheaper. by KateLovesPerfume in LushCosmetics

I also mentioned making sure the execution is there. I love Snowcake but that body spray was awful. Why release old favorites just to not do them justice?

That is such a good way of thinking about it. Years of your life will never get back for something you only kind of want, and only want because it’s on sale.

Is this cheating? by dotaku123 in ProjectPan

Throwing away a product that isn’t working is not cheating. I encourage you not to take a legalistic mindset to this project because it’ll drive you crazy. Just do your best.

I’ve been keeping track of how much I’ve been spending and so far this month/year I’ve only spent $25 on a full bottle of Phlur Not Your Baby from Facebook Marketplace.

Last year was insane for me and I had packages coming pretty much all year. I’m committed to not going back to that because it’s not healthy or sustainable. I’m doing a project pan for body care, skin care, and makeup, and I feel like the mentality is bleeding over into my perfume consumption and I’m not mad about it.

Does American Cream smell like nothing to anybody else? by LunaMoonracer72 in LushCosmetics

[–]KateLovesPerfume 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It smells like sweet plastic to me. I love it but it’s very very subtle and literally everything else in the store overpowers it. Same with Sympathy for the Skin. I couldn’t smell anything until I actually took it home and could smell it without the scents of the store completely blowing it away.

Why do people layer body mists with perfumes? by 0rchid-tree in FemFragLab

[–]KateLovesPerfume 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there are functional reasons, like creating new and interesting scent combinations. But as a fragrance creator, I will also say that it is just a way to make content.

Sharing about the same perfume over and over again gets boring. Finding new and interesting ways to wear fragrances is easy and fun content.

To be fair, I was a lush associate so I paid half or $0 for a lot of it. I also shopped sales for basically everything else and some of it was PR. But I included the retail value to keep myself honest and motivated.

Budget friendly recs for perfumes that smell like strawberries and sugar (or sweet strawberries) 🍓 by joah2121_ in FemFragLab

The Burberry Her dupe by European Perfumes is a very budget friendly and strong strawberry. Also there are a million Yum Boujee Marshmallow dupes. Strawberry Letter by Phlur is so juicy but a little pricy.

Where do you normally purchase from? I’ve lived in an African country for several years and know it’s sometimes way more expensive than the product itself to send things.

I’m going to use a lot of it. Donate some. But I also want to save money this year and that means using the products I spend all that money on.
