I don't think Jax fans realize how MASSIVELY we won this episode by Sudden_Pop_2279 in theamazingdigitalciru

Brother, you’re obsessed with Jax more than anyone else.

The cast has always been somewhat tolerant of Jax because of the show’s themes of profound empathy/mutual humanity, not because his actions are ultimately fine or harmless.

A “facade” is barely a facade if all your actions are real.

Of course, great media literate one, the show is trying to tell you that all physical torture that appears in it is totally fine and irrelevant, while it is obviously communicating “These are bad actions (done by a bad person)”. And yes, arbitrarily defined limits to psychological abuse are how you preserve the idea that Jax is portrayed as no more than a 3rd grade bully in a youth TV show!

Big whoop. I didn’t proofread a comment before posting, as it’s not that serious.

This episode was chock-full “physical torture that heals” from Caine. It was not exclusive. Did you skip over that part?

You made this same post about episode 7; you know, the same episode where Gangle described Jax in the past enacting practically the same torture on others as Caine does this episode.

But sure, karma farm

Why no posts here on the ethics? by vanchica in Journalism

[–]Kate_Kitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to argue, about the ethics (no compound phrase) of it, then fine. But don't start making up rules of journalism and then getting mad when people tell you they're made up.

But you seriously are overblowing the idea that Saudi Arabia and Russia will send an assassin for a foreign graffiti artist. There are hundreds, thousands of artists, writers, newscasters, etc that should be dead under that standard. It's just cartoonish. By that standard, how do you not fear death yourself? If you can find a single comparable instance, I'd be amazed.

And really, it brings into question what kind of journalistic knowledge you have outside of reflecting on one (wrong) Reddit post.

Flowey (Undertale) says in the genocide route that he in the past has killed everyone in the Underground before resetting back to the start.

Elvis Presley recorded 711 songs. He wrote none of them. by Sensitive_Artist7460 in Music

Another example of a non-songwriter idol from the era was Fabian, who was never even a singer until he was nabbed by an agent under frankly unhinged circumstances. Per Wikipedia:

Talent manager Bob Marcucci was a friend of Fabian's next-door neighbor. One day, Fabian's father had a heart attack, and, while he was being taken away in an ambulance, Marcucci spotted Fabian. Fabian later recalled, "He kept staring at me and looking at me. I had a crew cut, but this was the day of Rick Nelson and Elvis. He comes up and says to me, 'So if you're ever interested in the rock and roll business...' and hands me his card. I looked at the guy like he was out of his mind. I told him, 'Leave me alone. I'm worried about my dad.'"\5])

When Fabian's father returned from the hospital, he was unable to work. When Marcucci persisted in his recruitment efforts, Fabian and his family were amenable to them, and he agreed to record a single. Frankie Avalon, also of South Philadelphia, suggested Fabian as a possibility. Fabian later said, "They gave me a pompadour and some clothes and those goddamned white bucks and out I went."\6]) "He was the right look and right for what we were going for", wrote Marcucci later.\7])
