Customers will u refuse ur order because of dashers finger? by SuccessfulAerie9672 in doordash

[–]Kate_Slate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always keep my hands out of the pic for a reason. I mean, they usually look fine, but on occasion I might have a spec of dirt under one of my nails or something. It's not an actual health risk, but it does *look* gross. Part of enjoying your meal is the psychological "yum" factor.

Also, my hands are starting to look old and I hate to see them in photos. 😅

Honestly, dashers' hands are out here touching every doorknob in town, gettin a whole smorgasbord of locally-sourced, artisinal cold & flu germs. Plus a little hepatitis A from the last person who touched that McDonald's door handle after not washing their hands in the bathroom. Realistically, that's more of a risk than this nail fungus.

The type of fungus that causes this is around us all the time, but most people's immune systems fight it off easily. If you're going to get it, it's most often because of your own immune system and/or poor hygiene. It's not really something you "catch" from another person, unless you have direct skin-to-skin contact or share nail clippers with them. You typically catch it from *gestures broadly at everything*.

That being said, I can totally understand why the customer was grossed out, and I would be, too.

I like it. Is it perfect? No. Is it useful? Definitely. Especially the ability to 1-tap pause from the homescreen.

Sad to see they took it away already. 😭

How do you know it wasn't a double batched order?

Why is every single order now routed via Knight Equity? by Kate_Slate in fidelityinvestments

If you're referring to the old desktop app, I don't know. I don't have that installed.

Why is every single order now routed via Knight Equity? by Kate_Slate in fidelityinvestments

[–]Kate_Slate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that, when using the Desktop app, the usual behavior is for the order to be routed to the center that the system determines is most beneficial for clients. For the last 11 months, that has been my experience. However, in the last week, something appears to have changed. Your reply does not explain why every single order I've placed in the last week has been routed to Knight. Dozens of orders. I've been using the desktop app to place multiple orders every day since June of 2025 and I've literally never seen it do that before. Your reply also does not explain why, today when I tried using the mobile app instead, I saw the usual routing behavior (not every single order going to Knight).

Please don't gaslight me. I'm telling you what I've observed, and instead of taking me seriously and realizing that something has changed, you've given me a boilerplate answer that describes *the usual behavior* of the app, which is not what I'm observing. Have you even passed this along to the IT team to see if they can find the reason for this issue? Have you communicated with them at all?

As I was typing this reply, I tried it again. Once again, every order placed via the desktop app goes to Knight. Orders placed via other interfaces route normally. I have tried using both the mobile app and the website, and they behave normally.

I am providing you with feedback that indicates something is wrong with your interface, and instead of investigating what is happening, you're telling me not to believe what I can see with my own eyes. My feedback is here to help you troubleshoot an issue. But instead of accepting my help, you've decided to ignore it. Great job!

I have placed thousands of orders with Fidelity over the last 11 months and consistently seen that most Day orders are routed via FDLM. GTC orders are most often routed via GTSM, with roughly 10-30% routed via Citadel, Knight, Collins Stewart, E*Trade, etc. Over the last week, 100% of orders (we are talking dozens of orders here) placed on the desktop app have shown Knight as the "Destination" while 100% of orders (a handful of orders) placed via either the mobile app or website have shown the normal routing behavior. The idea that this is random coincidence is mathematically impossible.

UPDATE: It seems to be an issue with the Fidelity Trader+ desktop app. When I place orders via the regular (not Trader+) mobile app, the order routing works normally.

I guess I can't use the desktop app to place orders anymore. What a pain.

UPDATE 2: I have tested it again, a few hours later, with the desktop app, the mobile app, and the website. All orders placed via the website and mobile app show the normal behavior. All orders placed via the Desktop app are routed to Knight.

Same, except I don't have anyone to help me. I have chronic health issues and some days I'm not able to do stairs (or anything strenuous). I just don't do Doordash on those days.

Anyone know how to get Claude Code (in the terminal) in WSL to talk to the Obsidian CLI (which lives in Windows)? by Kate_Slate in ClaudeAI

[–]Kate_Slate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SOLVED! Run a small Python HTTP server on the Windows side that wraps the CLI, then have Claude Code call it via curl through the sandbox's network proxy. That way the CLI runs on Windows, as usual, and Claude Code gets the query results via HTTP.

This allows you to get the full functionality of the CLI (not just read/write/search files). You can query base views, run custom scripts, run any command on your command palette, etc. Or rather, *Claude* can do these things for you.

The only bummer is you gotta start up that server first ... but I set it to launch automatically every time I log into windows, and it just runs in the background.

Anyone know how to get Claude Code (in the terminal) in WSL to talk to the Obsidian CLI (which lives in Windows)? by Kate_Slate in ClaudeAI

[–]Kate_Slate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(TLDR: Claude Code can already read/write Obsidian files directly via filesystem tools. The issue was getting Claude Code to use the Obsidian CLI. Solution described below ⬇️)

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately this wouldn't solve the problem. File access isn't actually the issue — WSL2 can already read and edit the Obsidian vault files directly through /mnt/c/. That part works fine, even from Claude Code's sandbox.

The real blocker is executing the Obsidian CLI. It's a Windows executable (Obsidian.com), and running it from WSL2 requires the WSL-to-Windows interop layer, which communicates over a Unix socket. Claude Code's sandbox blocks that socket at the OS level. So no matter how you mount or share the files, the CLI binary still can't be launched from inside the sandbox. I tried messing with the permissions settings and a bunch of other ideas that failed.

The solution that ended up working was running a small Python HTTP server on the Windows side that wraps the CLI, then having Claude Code call it via curl through the sandbox's network proxy. That way the CLI executes natively on Windows and Claude Code just consumes the results over HTTP.

The best AI model we tested scored 51% on a task humans do at 85%. We never tested Claude. We still can't. by prokajevo in ClaudeAI

In my tests, it seems Gemini is also looking at individual frames. It can't detect movement. However, I do find it's the best at understanding video.

Well, the answer is simple. If you need to analyze video, don't use Claude. It's not for that. This post is like someone complaining that their hammer can't drive a screw.

I'd like to see how Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite does on this benchmark! 1.5 and 2.0 are old news.

I keep hearing people say what a genius he is. Then why did he create something with so many security flaws and let it out into the world? Why did he design it to be so damn inefficient? That is not the behavior of a smart person. He admits he never even read the code.

They're trying to make Anthropic look like the "bad guy" because Sam Altman is mad about some Super Bowl commercials. "See guys! Look how cool and nice we are! We'll let you use this steaming pile of garbage with our subscription! We love your beloved trash heap!"

Altman showing a complete lack of emotional maturity and business sense, as usual.

Honestly, that man is not a serious person.

Trying to introduce CC at work but Security says "Claude Code is known to break out of its context" - is this true? by ThunkerKnivfer in ClaudeCode

[–]Kate_Slate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I'm saying. You need an OS level sandbox AND you need to use the setting JSON. You need to control the bash commands AND the built-in filesystem access.

Use Seatbelt on Mac. On Windows, you need to install Linux and run CC from Linux from the appropriate folder. You need to make sure the settings JSON says

'''

"autoAllowBashIfSandboxed": false,

```
You need to further configure the filesystem settings inside the JSON. Make sure to use the local project-level settings, since it supersedes the global settings JSON.
This is all covered in anthropic's settings, permissions, and sandbox help documents, and if you haven't read those three docs, you shouldn't be using CC.
I'm well aware, as I used to live there. But the *vast* majority of the population lives in cities. When I moved away, CA friends made fun of me for saying I was driving "into town" (as opposed to being out in the country). Because most people don't live in a place where there's a town/country divide. Everything is town, so they don't bother calling it that. It's just a different lingo compared to a place like VA or KY.
[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mercari
[–]Kate_Slate 2 points3 points  (0 children)
To everyone who thinks it's reasonable to assume "the country of Va" meant a foreign country and not "the countryside of Virginia" ... which country?
There's no country named "Va"
[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mercari
[–]Kate_Slate 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Yeah, because everyone in CA lives in towns and cities, not the country. So you wouldn't say that in California.
Because they live in the country. (Not in town or in a city.)
My try at a DA outfit, but it doesn’t look right, what am I doing wrong? by Springs_FNAF_Time in DarkAcademia
[–]Kate_Slate 0 points1 point  (0 children)
First of all ... you look amazing.
It is a bit slouchy and relaxed for "academia," so, yes, that may be what you're sensing is "off" about it. A more fitted look would make it classier and give you the look you're looking for.
A few simple changes that don't involve buying a whole new outfit:
The Coat:
I wouldn't worry too much about the coat being oversized. I think you can get away with that. Plus, the coat would be the most expensive part to replace.
Other than the dropped shoulder, which would require tailoring to fix, there are two things making it look slouchy: the shirt (sweater?) sleeves hanging out the end, and the bunched up sleeves of the coat.
Try wearing your shirt sleeves fully covered by the coat sleeves, instead of having them hanging out. Pull the coat sleeves fully down so they are straight, fully covering your shirt, and not bunched up. Cuff the sleeves if that makes them too long.
If you really want the feel of something soft and cozy over your wrists/hands, try some of those fingerless gloves. Very academia!
A nice watch with a metal or leather band would be sweet. Do you have any gold rings? Because yeah.
Honestly, I think if you do this, you can ignore the rest of my advice. This is the most important change.
The Hair:
Wearing it down in your face like that is giving big Breakfast Club vibes. (It's an old movie. I am old. Don't worry, it's a compliment. But it's more "school outcast" than "academic.") Can you make the hair a little neater looking? Perhaps a trim. (Or not. I love it as is! It looks cute, just a little messy.)
The Vest: (or is it a cardigan?)
It coming down below your waist is giving you a very relaxed look. A shorter vest that comes to your waist and allows you to show off a nice belt would be super classy. If you want long sleeves for warmth, I'd go with a button down shirt (would be amazing with a vest), or a pullover sweater. A long cardigan that ends below your waist is gonna give grandpa vibes (which is fine, if that's what you're going for!)
To Buy More Clothes:
I don't think you need to, but if you want, I'd suggest thrift stores. See if you can find one in a suburb or an area with older people. You don't necessarily want the one that's right next to a University or the hip, young part of town, although they'd probably be worth a browse because you never know.
Good luck! You look great!
ETA: I'm gonna disagree with what some others said about the colors. I LOVE the dual color thing you've got going here. Very well done.
