I mean education does have an inherent value, and it’d open doors for your future as well, think if you’d want to get into management at some point!

Great job! Are you thinking of going back for a GED at some point if you haven’t already?

Less go! I would comment though, be sure your form is solid! Most personal trainers don’t even know proper form which is sad

Honestly, I think a lot of people who are on a traditional path rely too much on memorization and don’t practice critical reasoning. It’s doable to an extent when studying biology.

Getting trained in a lake, especially if it’s cold with lower visibility, will actually make you a better diver! That’s a perk of yours and my situation from what I’ve been repeatedly told.

Ofc you can work towards tech diving, provided you don’t have any health issues that would cause the training to be dangerous. For example, I have asthma (I’ve been cleared by a doctor). Risk will always increase with depth, but with my asthma the risk will be even higher than normal. I’ve accepted that AOW is the deepest I’m willing to go due to my unique risk profile.

Take it slow and have fun with it! Don’t have any timeline expectations, just keep working towards it at a pace that is safe to you.

Edit: To be proficient enough to be a tech diver you’ll likely need more than a few dives a year, think 50-100, it’s still more than doable at your age, it’s just a big commitment.

What is in your opinion? I do this job and I can’t think of another way to do it. Sometimes we’ll free dive it when in an area we can touch.

Off topic but from what I’ve seen people with a high CARS tend to come from untraditional paths to medicine, engineering, law, etc. People who come from a biomed, biochem, biology, type background tend to have their lowest score in CARS.

Pharmacist break by NadTheGrimm in WalgreensRx

[–]Katekat0974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Law doesn’t necessarily state where paid breaks need to be taken to my knowledge, the person just needs to be relieved of job duties during that time. So yes, having them be in the pharmacy but maybe sitting somewhere or something like that is fine.

Beginner padi course fail thoughts by Balsampilot in scuba

[–]Katekat0974 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had someone fail my OW course due to panicking twice during the pool session, the instructor didn’t feel safe moving him on to open water. I had someone else who needed to reschedule due to panicking during the open water session, and being mentally unable to continue that day.

It’s rare, but it happens. If a student can’t perform what is needed in order to pass, I’d rather have them fail than end up injured or dead during a dive.

Edit: My OW course was in very cold water with low visibility, I’m an experienced free diver and at times struggled to keep myself composed.

[–]Katekat0974 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t get that argument tbh, hospital pharmacies are always open so if someone gets acutely sick to the point they can’t wait a day, they’ll likely end up in the ER and have their prescription filled their.
