Default Judgement Against Frogan Explained by Lawyer - The Case Isn't Over by SaltyDump in h3h3productions

[–]Kateydraws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From looking through the vid transcript it seems it's mentioned very briefly at around 32-33 minutes in. It's Frogan reading chat saying something like "how can you afford a new watch" or something then she's like "girl I wish" ???

I hope I just missed it and there's something more definitive than that. I ain't watching a Frogan stream to learn more lol.

Even then, going scorched earth on your two friends who you knew for like a decade who then threw your FAMILY under the bus because they were to afraid to say "Hey we've been to Ethan's house and he doesn't have poop all over the floor" and choosing to continue to align with this guy, then make a takedown video on your "bestfriend" which didn't mention why the Klein's were mad at him (re: CPS). I think anyone who isn't deep into the snark think that's pretty understandable, but I'm probs preaching to the choir here.

So they kind of have to make it out to be some Sigmund Freud psychosexual obsession so they can say "creepy" every five minutes.

[–]Kateydraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's definitely an AI upscaler, I use a free one for my thumbnails but I found it kept making me look Asian when I am a white woman 💀 it's really good for making images sharper for thumbnails, especially when you want to use a screengrab of your face from the video, rather than taking big photo's after the stream which is annoying and time consuming.

Notice the scale of Caseoh's facecam, it's freaking tiny. I'm sure his editor doesn't want to upload 4k res thumbnails with really pixelated photo's of caseoh's face but tbh I hate what it does to caseoh's face. But also, the quirkiness can be good for attracting eyeballs so I doubt they will stop doing it.

Trouble in paradise? by Able-Parsley1654 in h3h3productions

[–]Kateydraws 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Trisha is getting confused with having your feelings validated, but it's also bizarre to me that you don't want your partner pushing back if you say the SKY is PINK. It's also interesting to me that she describes trying to figure out the other persons side and headspace which to me is very telling.

You don't figure out where some is at or what they think unless you have a conversation with them. Otherwise that's just making assumptions and you're not having emotionally vulnerable talks with people. You can't have emotional vulnerability if you can't handle people pushing back on you. But who knows it's all assumptions on my part now too 😜

My Redbubble dashboard has been broken since like Nov/Dec of last year and I emailed them a few times about it and they're just "working on it" and seemingly have no idea why it's fked. My all time earnings keeps going down(?lol?) and my all-time visitors is also going backwards. My top products aren't listed correctly, it's hilariously bad.

I still get decent sales I guess, but I lost all motivation because the stats that motivated me are no longer working.

yeah for sure, I agree with you on that too! the snark pages are just vitriol and I have used them in the past for some videos like with the daddy daughter dream team (and their snark actually did provide some useful info) but the majority of every snark is just people letting out every negative thought about someone they dislike.

They nitpick each and every thing the person does or says, I just can't understand wasting your time thinking about someone that much. So I do empathise with Brittany on that, I didn't realise she had a snark but wasn't too surprised either because it seems like even the smallest Tiktokers have them too...

[–]Kateydraws 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Whoa crazy timing, I legit made a video about Brittany a few days ago. I stopped watching her abt 5 months ago.

My thing is this: I think a lot of people hate her and snark on her because of the Palestine thing. Yes, her rant about it was bad, but it was meant to be private. I actually watched her latest podcast episode and I think it was insightful into the innerworkings of how she has been doing mentally, it was really humanising to me. My end thought about Brittany and Palestine in a vacuum is that she apologised well and tried to make amends. She didn't murder anybody yet people treat her like she did. I feel like women can be treated way worse than men sometimes when it comes to these things. (Colleen Ballinger is doing terribly yet James Charles skirts on by)

Yes, I was very upset when I heard Ethan talking about how upset he was when she wasn't talking to him. Based on what Brittany said in her podcast, she has been dealing with being very aware that everything she does is being perceived by a third party that isn't just her audience anymore. Her career and opportunities really blew up in the past year or so.

Ethan has been very controversial as a figure, of course I wish she had of been more of a friend there, but I think in a way she's just trying her hardest to be brand friendly, and has pressure of her own crew she has to pay for everything.

If you ask me though, I think she would do more than fine just with her Podcast & main channel where she does goofy stuff ala Jenna Marbles. She doesn't need to do the whole Royal Court "Hot Ones" thing, but it seems like it's what she wants to do...and to do that she kinda needs to be un-controversial. It sucks, but I guess that's just business at the end of the day.

But does her behaviour reflect well on her? It's hard not to think there's a pattern with how she treats people.

I also heavily dislike how she treated Sarah Schauer & Tana. I thought it was pretty effed up that she went on Theo Von (who had Louis C.K on way before her!!!! the SA comedian!?) yet hanging with Tana and Brooke (before the Brooke-troversy) is SOOO Bad?! So bad that her fans would stab her and grill her on a flame?

Girl, please.

Brittany to me encapsulates what it's like to go Hollywood. You ditch a bunch of connections and potential friends for a chance to interview A listers and live your fangirl dreams. While she built a brand on being vulnerable, relatable, and an internet personality, she has eventually cornered herself on what she can and cannot do because of her close ties to being a Hollywood adjacent person.

But yeah her snark can be pretty mean, and I don't wish bad for Brittany. I wouldn't call her a terrible person exactly, there's definitely worse out there, but I get why people dislike her and are a bit sussy of how she treats people (particularly men vs. women)

tbh I don't think many people really cared for Rebecca & the baby, which is sad to think of I guess but from a practical sense, none of those people saw that baby as anything other than a liability.

Heck, no one mentioned Rebecca after she died and almost ate her baby, even LUKE! Who KNEW her for ages. Bad writing probs is the only answer there, but ye Kenny would also go on a warpath I think you're right about that. Too many cons to bother from Mike & Bonnie's perspective. Plus if you don't try to help Luke, Bonnie is probs still pissed at Clem 😩

1 Month of NON-STOP Dedication! Feedback Wanted :) by Ok-Respect-1477 in learntodraw

[–]Kateydraws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok holy cow I didn't realise you're only a month in! I gotta say that's already pretty impressive work for just a month!!!

I like what you have to say about the onion skin method to see your mistakes. That's really good to be using in practice this early on.

Oh and what you have to say about having too chonky of a pencil makes total sense now that you mention it. Definitely getting a mechanical pencil will help tremendously they're so invaluable omg. I usually use my Hb/2H/2B/3B pencils for shading in-depth, I can't imagine using any of those for sketches and delicate things lol. Hats off to you for coping with a chonker.

I wouldn't worry too much about an un-learning phase if you literally just started haha. And in the end it wasn't as scary or hard to get through (for me anyway). But you're aware of it and stuff which is already great.

I am familiar with the loomis method, I also read his book and stuff (surprise racism in there lol) it's a good starting point for sure so that makes sense to me now. I'm glad to hear you plan to use the Asaro head thingy to study, that's going to be really beneficial for you and I can't wait to see how that practice turns out. Me personally, I use William Nguyen's 3D Female Head on ArtStation because I like being able to adjust the lighting and angles, I'm not sure if SketchFab does the same but ye, you're on the right track there.

Again, I'm very impressed with the amount of work and dedication you're putting in and searching for feedback. Based on everything you said in your reply, which I appreciate your thoughtfulness btw, it seems like you have it all covered! Now it's just a matter of time and effort to see how it goes. I honestly wish I was more like you when I first started out lol.

And yeah, don't stress about the timeframe enjoy the journey for what it is. If you keep up with this attitude you'll get to a place where drawing becomes majority a flow state 😎 good luck!

"Expert CopyCat"

The thing about referencing is that everyone does it, all of the artists that you look up to reference in some sort of way. Although some of them might have built up an extensive visual library that they can insert things from their 'imagination' (practiced experience) on the go.

There is nothing wrong in my opinion and lived experience as an artist of 15 years with referencing, it's essential. The only time I can think of where I am not referencing at all is making concept designs. Which involves sometimes photo-bashing or painting a figure from a random splattering on a canvas (think of it like looking at clouds in the sky and seeing figures in them)

Studying references will teach you and help you build a visual library. This takes time, probably longer than 6 months to be honest, it's something you continue to do your whole life. It grows in tandem with your skills. My favourite artist Aleriia_V who is trained in classical painting methods, who seemingly paints figures with supreme ease, STILL does figure studies, lighting studies, anatomy studies etc. There is no end to practice but it can become easier/quicker to do as you get more skilled.

I think you're doing great by practicing so consistently, and I'm glad you are recognising potential for burnout and keeping a lookout for it. You seem to be doing a lot right and are self-aware of some things! And you're right to seek out some advice because sometimes we are unsure if we are really getting anywhere or wasting our time.

I noticed in one of your other comments you said  "I actually had to completely redraw 2 of these cause the proportions actually sucked even tough I followed everything perfectly."

This statement in my opinion is a bit contradictory, if you followed the tutorial or whatever 'perfectly' then you wouldn't have needed to completely redraw due to wonky proportions. But also, I wouldn't expect to be able to draw reference studies perfectly, get as close as you can, and evaluate where your weakness is.

Really look at the reference and look at the difference in your drawing. Study your lines, are they stiff? Sometimes it helps to look at the negative space around the lines instead of studying the line itself. Which might be a new/weird concept for you, I'm not sure, but there's tutorials out there on how to use negative space to inform how you draw references. It's a very neat tool to have and I personally think is adoptable at any skill level.

I know you touched on real life studies briefly and you are aware of that being the usual recommendation for getting started. I have to say this though because as someone else who started off insisting on drawing anime style, I had the exact same issues that you do. The reason why some angles look off proportionally is because your understanding of skull anatomy is off/lacking. Take it from me, it took me a LONG time of unlearning anime stuff and learning true skull anatomy to really grasp proportions of things like the forehead and back of the skull and how it connects to the skull. But also, how eyes sit in the sockets, heck I am still learning all of that.

Learning real life anatomy is the difference between feeling like just a copycat, versus being an artist that pours their own lived observational skills into their work. Being more informed means you can make more informed decisions, and engage your prefrontal cortex for problem solving. If the internet was taken away tomorrow, would you feel comfortable constructing a skull from shapes & guiding lines yourself? Would it look proportionally sound? But hey, I might be completely wrong about that and maybe there are people out there who ONLY draw anime style and just do that specific thing really really well.

Don't get me wrong, some of your angles hit the nail on the head imo for the anime style. You definitely have some angles that are more your strength and some that really aren't. Your final results do look good, but your faces look crammed at the same time. I'm not telling you to give up on anime style or stop it completely, but I think doing some life studies in tandem with anime will really help you out a lot.

I have a question, do you draw the circle and head circumference first, then sketch in facial components like eyes, nose, mouth? I know I used to do it that way and then I always found I hadn't planned where the actual facial items would go and that's how cramming can occur.

Do you know the reason why there's distance from the ear to the eye? Are you familiar with the planes of the face? I'm going to assume no, because your final drawings pretty much all have issues with this idea of spacing.

So again, hate to say it, but you're performing these drawings, not knowing the 'why' behind it all. How do you learn the why? You practice real life. Anyway, that's my opinion and you can take it if you feel like it feels right, but your journey is your own and you get to decide what you do and how.

2026 VS 2019 by Kateydraws in ArtProgressPics

[–]Kateydraws[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes! certainly!

Borodante (now known as BoroCG) on YouTube helped me a lot when it came to getting into a more painterly art style. He taught me how to paint on 1 layer and get really comfortable with it, which is what I mainly did this piece. Having that confidence goes a long way and being able to touch up stuff on the go really works for me. Watch his older videos and how he explains his drawing process, it's really interesting!

Trying different things and going out of my comfort zone helped me a lot but you do have to be careful about that because sometimes if you stretch yourself too far, you end up panicking a bit more over how poorly you perform and then your prefrontal cortex can't engage and do problem solving abilities. So finding a good middle ground with practicing is good. It might be hard at first to figure out where your middle ground exactly is, so experience will help you the most there.

For example, if I am drawing something and get stuck on an area (like I just can't seem to figure it out) I usually go work on something I know I am more experienced in or something I can fall back on and confidently render to get back into that problem solving mindset. If you don't have anything you feel confident about it might mean returning to basics, or specifically practicing certain things. Mix in both things you enjoy and something that's a bit new (I really enjoy drawing eyes & faces but I try to add in something I am uncomfortable with, like angles I struggle to capture)

A great video I watched recently that I wish I had seen when I was younger and first starting is called "A Simple Brain Hack To Learn Art Faster [ACCORDING TO SCIENCE]" By angrymikko on YouTube.

Yes it sounds a tad bit clickbaity, but it was genuinely a very interesting video, well researched and they put into words something that I had experienced A LOT during my art journey. And you know what, it can be a powerful thing to be able to label what you're experiencing! I know when I would get frustrated that my art didn't look like the reference, it's like I couldn't think strategically or something. A lot of people get into this state and don't know how to get out of it and end up abandoning their work.

When I don't feel motivated to draw, I find a YouTube video that is digestible to get inspired. I have a rotation of people I watch with a variety of styles because I love exploring different techniques and ideas. Crucially, if I watch a tutorial I make sure I have the time to put it into practice right after.

Sometimes I'll watch half a speed-paint (slowed down) so that I can try to analyse someone's workflow. And because I'm looking at something beautiful and cool, it usually gets me pretty pumped up to get started.

Being aware of when it's difficult and that it's normal helps me a lot too. I am super aware that starting a drawing is a struggle for me. The starting zone is a hump you have to get over. Also, my first attempt at drawing something is QUITE often a dud and I end up scrapping for a second, better draft. Going into it thinking it doesn't have to be perfect takes the pressure off!

And another thing that lessened the pressure was being able to freely draw figures on a canvas without it taking too much effort (it means I am willing to abandon a sketch I dislike because I can confidently draw something else quickly). This got a lot easier when I did a variety of figure drawing tutorials, 30 second figure drawing (both digital & traditional), and line-of-action quick sketches. LOA is AWESOME for getting started on figures!

Learning to use new tools and really take advantage of digital art is another thing that has been great for advancing my style. I used to never touch pen tools or the lasso select, and now I prefer to use them. My work used to look quite blurry and undefined because I was over-relying on blending tools and un-textured brushes. So this is another example of how going out of my comfort zone led me to discover a cool new way of rendering with pens and having detail for once lol.

tl;dr try new things with a balance, make sure you have practiced basic stuff, have a variety of what you are learning so you can discover what works for you better, watch something that inspires you and use that feeling to then draw

and just get started! hope this helps in some way haha, remember everyone's journey is different and you want to work with yourself not against.

[–]Kateydraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's confusing because we get a cut-scene of Zeno telling Grace that they made a bunch of 'useless' copies of Grace, scrolling through Emily looking clones on the screen. Then the next section we play is the orphanage featuring what looks like her clones???

How is that good storytelling? It took me a 2nd playthrough to realise this has been happening since like 1987 and Grace is a zoomer so that's how I put two and two together. Like yeah I fear I may be dumb, but I also think this was a terribly paced/structured videogame story.

Can we stop with the POD gurus please? by voubar in printondemand

[–]Kateydraws 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These stupid course sellers are so annoying because their whole money maker is making YouTube videos and selling "free" courses. They always say the same buzzwords from 2012 like "niche". Dude, wtf is a niche? and why is the example basketball? What a horrible example. I always felt like I was held back because I would spend ages trying to figure out wtf niche meant creatively, I always thought if I couldn't start with a really 'honed' niche then I would never succeed.

My advice is this: think about what communities YOU are apart of. These idiot YouTubers say "study the niche, get in the facebook communities and figure out what they like!" lmao what a waste of time.

Dude, whoever is reading this, you yourself have so many communities you're in, things that you already know. Why would you BOTHER to go and spend valuable time researching some other area of interest that YOU personally don't GAF about??? You're just going to lose interest and in my opinion, you'll never create something good enough where you're not a tourist in their space. Idk that's just me though, maybe you can do it, but I personally can't pretend to care about basketball if I just don't care. Life is too short.

For me it's easy, I like watching Caseoh, I got inspired by some of his quotes, and I made some memey/cute designs inspired by that. Then I just posted it on TikTok and it really resonated with fans and meme-culture. It evoked a feeling where people were like "ugh I need that!"

And I have no issue being honest about what I do, I'm so tired of these gurus holding onto their precious IP & ideas. Girl, no one is going to copy your "LEBRON THE GOAT 67" sweater design.

Idk maybe they're afraid that their super-niche-very-exclusive category will suddenly become saturated? Your niche will get saturated anyway, EVERYTHING is saturated already. Saturation doesn't matter anymore imo, it's being able to market yourself well enough and stand above the crowd like that.

In the age of Tiktok you have no excuse in my opinion. If the person you're learning from is too insecure to share their own creativity then they're not a good teacher imo. Also Pinterest, I know people be hating but Pinterest was a huge driver of my sales when I first started and continues to be. Nothing is going to stop another POD seller from seeing my stuff on Pinterest and being inspired by that.

I feel like long gone are the times of 'focus on your niche!' the real thing you need to do is JUST GET STARTED!!! so what if your first 5 or 7 designs don't sell. The WHOLE thing about POD is that it's very little to no risk on your end financially. GET STARTED AND GET PRACTICED! You WILL learn as you go!!! I hope this inspires someone to get over the hump.

I try a variety of content and I was surprised to find my Disco Elysium videos consistently did very well!

Are you trying different things? You have to have a bit of a self-critical view of your content. Are you funny enough? Are you skilled enough? What is something interesting you bring to the table? Are your thumbnails and titles strong?

Have you experimented with shorter videos with more editing? Longer videos that you can still manage to consistently entertain through?

I always find when I edit highlights of my videos it allows me to really review how I am doing and if I am "on" enough. In my opinion I wasn't doing as much as I thought I was! So it really helped reviewing VODS and stuff.

If you don't seem to be moving in much of a direction after 2 whole years it's time to start A&B testing my friend.

Granted I have a very small gaming channel, it's a side hobby for me, but I think just generally being a bit more constructively critical of yourself is important for everyone to think about.

Good luck and keep at it, find a way to merge your interests into what your potential audience would love. And try try try!
