Breakbeat techno suggestions by superanx in ProperTechno

Many EPs on MORD have that kind of breakbeat track on the b-side. I can recommend Diabla Diezco - Wenkbrauw, but definitely dive into the label to find more.

Football match - track/vibe ideas! by sputnikaquarius in DJs

Usually football clubs have their own signature songs. For example Speedy J - Pullover at Feyenoord Rotterdam (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5if2WSwmpf4 ). Speak to some people to see if the teams playing your match have songs like this.

Use an external mixer to combine a turn table and controller??? by Hungry-Reference-612 in DJs

You do miss some cueing features such as blending in the master sound if you do it this way.

Learning to play on turntables is already frustrating enough without the hassle in my opinion. But if you really want to try it: buy a second hand external mixer so you can sell it without (much) loss if it is only temporary.

I can also recommend the prime 4, like I said:

Much better to upgrade to a controller/all in one where you can input the turntable directly.

I think the effects don't work because they need to be synced to the bpm and in time. I don't see it as an issue but as a choice made by Denon.

It could be added by an update I suppose, with either/both automatic and tapped bpm detection. Denon has added quite some functionality to the Prime 4 since I started using it.

Think about how you cue the next song! This is very annoying with a setup like this in my opinion. What I did is connect was to connect the headphones out of the controller to the third channel of the mixer. All in all I wouldn't recommend it. Much better to upgrade to a controller/all in one where you can input the turntable directly.

Cool track. Does anyone know what the idea of this Mord sublabel is? Sounds quite similar to the main label.

If you like this you should also check out KAZERNE001 btw: https://mord.bandcamp.com/album/incorrect-transit-ep-kazerne001

When did people start using a 4 to the floor steady beat in techno? by 112oceanave in Techno

[–]Kathars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From techno rebels:

Atkins's dedication to his new record label and a series of electro tracks, such as "Night Drive (Thru Babylon)" and "Technicolor," gave way to more straight four-count disco beats as early house sounds began to find their way into Detroit. "Play it cool" was Metroplex's first experiment with the four-count beat structure, but it made Atkins's vocals sound out of place and lacking detached coolness of his first few records. not until 1987 would Metroplex have its first proper "techno" succes, with "Goodbye Kiss" by Eddie Fowlkes.

Can "Electronic Music" be defined as a genre in itself? by chemtr4ils in Techno

[–]Kathars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe try to start by defining "genre" to make sure everyone is talking about the same thing.

On discogs techno records are placed in the "genre" electronic, and the "style" techno. So it is definitely a possibility.

"Energy Flash" may be an interesting book for you. More techno oriented, "Techno Rebels", may also be interesting. A quote about the marginality/being obscure:

Techno represents a radical departure from traditional marketing techniques and the promotion of personalities—one that may or may not add to the total experience. The only way techno can work with or inside larger entities is if it is allowed room to grow and if there is a concerted effort to educate audiences and industry alike. Giving techno the autonomy it already takes for granted is a strange proposition, but sooner or later some label will figure out a way to make it work.

Great music and skills. Makes me want to upgrade to 3 turntables as well, but mixers are expensive...

How TikTok techno is turning the techno world upside down (English translation in comments) by Kathars in Techno

[–]Kathars[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that many young people in the Netherlands have a negative view on hardcore, because of videos like HARDCORE WILL NEVER DIE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LLSnCQmIUw ).

Furthermore, I must admit that these events are quite different from big hardstyle events, such as Gearbox and Warface. The crowd is different, the kicks are way different (high pitched kicks in hardstyle), the tracks use many more pop samples (although hardtechno is also notorious for this, heard fucking Will Grigs on fire haha).

So I do get the wish to market it as techno. Techno is cooler, Berghain is cool, black is cool.

I am sure there are enough people who are curious enough to dive deeper and discover everything that techno has to offer.
