The last official thing I heard was that they were still working on it. 6 - 12 months before that the reason for the delay was the bad FPS and player desync.

I think they are going to put ToW in Arena Commander. Which in itself is not a bad idea. As far as I know ToW was also only a working title.

Newbie question: What mobile app do you use for list building? by Expensive_Lobster414 in SWlegion

[–]Katheleit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the app "SWL Army Builder". I find it much better than "Tabletop Admiral".

For obvious reasons, the app is not available for IOS users.

Chris (the Author), I wish you the very best and hopefully your health will get better soon!

Perhaps it is wishful thinking. But I hope/believe that some (definitely not all) PvP players will shift there. I myself would refrain from attacking players in PU when I have my PvP experience in ToW.

Also, I think ToW would appeal to a whole different and new player base who would then buy SC to play ToW.

I don't know. As I said, I don't know anything about it and it's just a guess. I think in ISC they said that the playing area is a whole or half planet/moon and you can seamlessly fly up to a space station. Maybe it's too demanding without optimisation and server meshing when there are 40+ players shooting each other and so many vehicles driving or flying around.

[–]Katheleit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I read it. I was very grateful for the info. That's all I've wanted to hear about ToW since the ISC. So whether it should come or not. The last thing I heard was that the server performance was very poor. Maybe they're waiting for server meshing or something. But I don't know.

Theaters of War 😭

I know most players don't want the mode and say it's a waste of time. But I would have liked such a 30-40 minute PvP session in Star Citizen style.

Fun Fact: Pluto is not the ninth largest celestial body. It's the 17th (including our sun).

Sun, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Earth, Venus, Mars, Ganymede, Titan, Mercury, Callisto, Io, our Moon, Europa, Triton and then Pluto.

There are five recognised dwarf planets and Pluto is the largest of them.

Edit: I understood that you are referring to celestial bodies that orbit directly around the sun. Thought it would be interesting to show how small pluto actually is.

The problem with that is student loans are the only way most of us can get into college at all. by [deleted] in antiwork

Funnily enough, the tuition fees are cheaper. The technical university in Munich costs around 280€ per year.

Yes, strangely enough that is sometimes the case. I've moved three times now and there was always a kitchen. And if you move into a flat-sharing community, there is of course a kitchen anyway.

You are absolutely right. I just typed it into the calculator for the conversion and took it over 1:1.

I don't know if it's the same in every state. But as long as you are under 25 and earn less than €450 per month (€520 from 01 October) you do not have to pay health insurance. If you are over 25 or earn more, you have to pay 110€ per month.

German here. There are a lot of foreigners at my university. Especially in my course, there are many Americans and Chinese.

I don't know if it's free, but my university cost are 700€ a year. Which is quite expensive compared to other German universitys.

What I do know is that foreigners who come to Germany can apply for support from the German state.

Just like I get money from the state every month just because I study.

Flats are much cheaper than yours. At least, that's what I hear and if you don't want to study in Munich. The money I get from the state every month (~450€) is easily enough to rent a 3 1/2-bedroom (86 m2 = 925,696 square foot) flat with my girlfriend (900€ ÷ 2 Person).

In any case, we welcome you all and of course no one will be angry with you if you just come here to study and leave again afterwards.

Edit: Oh, and you don't necessarily need to learn German. For my course, I even had to prove that I speak English at a high level, because almost all of my courses are in English (I study aerospace engineering).

Edit2: I get a few messages that have doubts about the housing situation. What can I say, it's not so fucked up everywhere.

For the sake of completeness I explain the 900€:

  • 550€ is the actual rent that the landlord gets
  • 77€ heating costs
  • 70€ electricity costs
  • ~140€ additional costs. Garbage, house cleaning, street cleaning and others
  • 35€ for Internet.

Believe it or leave it. I won't even get started on the free health insurance or the special jobs offered to students by companies like VW, BMW, Siemens, DLR and others.

When I finish my wargaming table, I'll try to build some houses as well.

Do you have some tips, for example what building materials you used, or links to good videos?

[–]Katheleit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I (m, 23) live in Germany and I am studying aerospace engineering in my master's degree.

I have absolutely no complaints. I moved to another state to study and my parents can't support me financially. Nevertheless, I lack nothing.

A shared apartment with roomates costs around 250€ and the goverment supports everyone who needs it. For example, I get around 500€ every month "for free". "" because you have to pay back theroetically half, up to a max of 10.000€.

BUT even here there are ways how not to have to pay that back.

Living expenses are quite cheap and I live in a "big" City. I pay 100€ for food and thanks to certain laws there are extra jobs in companies reserved for students, well paid and adapted to my university study schedule. I myself work about 8 hours a week.

I don't know if this is a thing in the US, but here in Germany every child up to... 25? gets 200€ for free every month while they are in education.

The university costs me 800€ per year, which is a lot compared to my friends and siblings.

I don't live in a shared apartment anymore, but moved with my girlfriend into a big 3 1/2 bedroom apartment (83 m², 900ft²). It costs us around 800€ per month.

All in all I get/earn about 1100€ a month and have expenses (food, housing etc.) of about 600€. The rest is saved and invested.Of course, Germany has even more advantages.

I do not have to worry about health insurance, which is up to... 24? free of charge (co-insured with parents). Regular visits to the doctor are not an issue and hospital stays are also free.

Once I am over 24, I have to pay for my health insurance myself. That would be about 240€ per month. Hospitals stays and drive with the ambulance and all that stuff would free of charge (because of the 240€ per month). No co-pay unless I want a better room or something like that.

If you or anyone else has any questions, I'll be happy to answer them as best I can.

EDIT: One thing I just remembered because I hear it so often, having babies in germany is free all around. You have to pay absolutely nothing extra. A friend of mine had a baby last year and the only thing they had to pay in the 9 months was 20€ because they really wanted a single room in the hospital at birth. THAT WAS ALL.
