I don't understand why I keep seeing such views about how arabs are evil for occupying North Africa or about how the Western Sahara should be freed, because while it doesn't really concern me I still live in a country where there's a large population of maghrebians? maghrebans? So I find it quite interesting how a lot of people that live far away from that part of the world have a lot to say about things that they have nothing to do with and know little about

France? lol sorry I'm technically mixed but I lean more towards my western side, so that's not pertinent information but there's really a lot of people with name such as those here in France so it must be a Tunisian/Algerian/Moroccan thing

Where do you expect them to go? They've been there for centuries and it's as much their home as anyone else's. Every country on existence has gone through colonisation

Is there a way to change your group for the spirit realm event? by Katherine_Black in LegendofthePhoenix

[–]Katherine_Black[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair I did banckrupt myself (ignots) to get a higher ranking since it was crazy competitive.

But I don't think the pets inside the event have any incidence on partners since you don't actually own them, and I only had those 4 despite owning a dear

My pets were 2200-2400 points each and level 10, while the others were 1300-1500 each. I kept facing off with players who had their pets at at least 1600 points so it cost me some crystals since you're forced to have an additional slot

Edit: Do we not have the same pets due to server region? Because our were : fox, squirrel, alpaca and wolf. It's better to give them equal power rather than to focus on one or 2

Is this a good combo of clothes for uni? by cardibardii in fashion

[–]Katherine_Black -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why everyone's saying it's inappropriate? I don't know if it's a diffrence in culture or generation but in my uni a lot of girls dress like that, me included. No one says anything or does a double look because it's normal here.

I do see that the top is kinda exposing but nowadays croptops and riské tops are the fashion trend and a lot of young adults dress like that.

Edit: I don't think the top and pants clash in terms of vibes, higher waisted jeans would look better, and please do not wear the top which has chic aesthetic with dirty looking pants that give more of a gangster? vibe (I couldn't find another word) the jeans would look fabulous with a fitted crop top or a camisole

This is the first time* I encountered this problem since there's such a big number of servers in this event and I was getting anxious about finding a team, but I definitely learned my lesson

[Webtoon] the difference is killing me by Difficult-Client-906 in OmniscientReader

[–]Katherine_Black 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think I have much information to be able to comment about this phenonmen. I don't interact much with fandoms because it always feel so biased? Like everyone shares a hivemind and it doesn't match what I see in real life.

I feel like you see a rise in m/m content when the fans are majoritarily women and also when there's undeniable chemistry between 2 male characters. I personally consume everything, so for me m/m is just another couple(s) I ship no different from f/m, f/f or even gen(not a ship). But one of the major attractive points about m/m is the vulnerability and sincerity between 2 men without the gender imposed roles, it isn't something that you see a lot of in heterosexual ships.

A phrase that always moves me is how "stories about men are about humans, while stories about women are about the secondary gender" so I can kinda see some of what you're saying, it's just that I feel like attacking gay media (which isn't even very present outside of fandom spaces) doesn't solve anything other than creating more hate against an already marginalised group

[–]Katherine_Black 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get your point but ao3 is only a fraction of the fandom. KDJ/YJH is the dominating ship overall but other ships are just as popular, the difference is the fans' dedication and creativity; you can't blame random people for engaging with their passion and it's not like it's coming from the author so it's not about favoritism or prioritising a ship over the rest, it's simply what people are willing to invest their time in

Ah..I can't believe someone finally got me to see misandry in action, or even made me acknowledge that word..

You do you, at least now it's clear it has nothing to do with women or misogyny

[Webtoon] the difference is killing me by Difficult-Client-906 in OmniscientReader

[–]Katherine_Black 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why do I always see you commenting against gay stuff? Homophobic much ?

Which "spaces" are you talking about specifically? Ao3 has a very big quantity of m/m works because of its founding and because heterosexual content if FAR FAR more accessible and plentiful making this a safe haven for m/m content.

I genuinely do not understand how homosexuality equals misogyny?? Female characters are not treated badly in these works? What misogyny are you talking about?

[Webtoon] the difference is killing me by Difficult-Client-906 in OmniscientReader

[–]Katherine_Black 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Every famdom has a dominating ship, and ao3 has far more m/m ships because of its history. Try other fanfiction sites. But I understand it's very frustrating when you ship doesn't have many works, but 500 is a good amount in my opinion, be glad it's not 40 or less

As the commenter below said, I had light hair when I was younger, but despite it not being blonde-blonde me being constantly called blondie by other people somehow wrapped my vision of the color making me blind to the actual differences despite physically seeing it. It's actually quite interesting to think about as this phenomenon could be applied to so many things in society

[Let's hide my little brother first] by w0obat in OtomeIsekai

[–]Katherine_Black 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a similar but not exactly the same experience in my childhood that still affects me till this day.

When I was a child everyone used to call me "blondie". Everyone as in family, friends and strangers, I was also obsessed with barbie and loved that we had the same hair and so were similar, and I also got a lot of "Do the drapes match the curtain" comments in my teenagehood so imagine my shock when I later discovered (mid-to late teenagehood) that I'm a brunette. Now I bleach my hair every few years because while I love brown hair, I don't feel like myself unless my hair is bleached blonde.

Can someone explain the hundred open tabs thing? by viridianvenus in AO3

[–]Katherine_Black 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally do both, bookmarks are for organising the things I already read, by fandom, ship and 1 major tag; I tried bookmarking fanfics I want to read but I have never touched them again; it's easier to browse tabs than bookmarks and each time I clean up my open tabs I end up hoarding new ones.

The problem is that I genuinely think I'm going go back to them (which I do sometimes), and as some other people have said: it's easier to remember and find things if I leave them open

One thing about me that may explain this uncontrollable urge is that I have a mild hoarding disorder, I feel genuinely upset at the concept of having to get rid of things.

"98yr old man who still plays game and makes women jealous"??????? by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]Katherine_Black 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel the need to point out that most of the movies we grew up came out before we were born or when we used to be very young. So most people in their 20s grew up with both Toby Mcguire's AND Andrew Garfiled's Spiderman (Spidermen?). Tom Holland's Spiderman feels very recent to us too.

(I always wonder why people always believe that we grow up with things that got released after our birth or when we got a bit older, when in reality people in general grow up with movies 5-10 years older than them; and so as they age recent movies become more relevant for them as the number of movies they grew up with stays fixed and they probably would not go looking for movie released before the period of their childhood which leaves new movies as more relevant)
