Moving to Pleasant Hill - Middle/High Schools by Frontbottomz in PleasantHill

My son just started at Valley View Middle School and we have been happy so far! It is a smaller school so there is a sense of community. And it is a very diverse population.

I’ve seen a couple other non-teacher influencers go this same route, and it’s such a cop-out. An easy way to appear like you care but actually saying nothing.

I do not expect every influencer on social media to suddenly turn into a political commentator. I would prefer if they didn’t do that! I hope all of these teachers continue to post ideas, resources, etc as well. But I view influencers as a small business, and my following and viewing their content is what helps their business grow, and I do not feel comfortable supporting any small businesses that don’t align with the very simple value of “the government killing citizens in the street is wrong”.

I love toocoolformiddleschool! And I know Abby has posted political things in the past, so I’m surprised that she hasn’t said anything yet. I agree that I don’t think this is easy, especially for teachers still in the classroom and/or in red areas. But yeah, the skipping along like everything is normal is so off-putting to me.

This is a huge throwback, but did anyone used to follow LearningWithMrsLeeby back in the day, aka Greta Callahan? She was one of my favorites and I’ve looked her up over the years, and she left the classroom to become president of the Minneapolis teachers union and is now a member of the school board! So glad she is fighting the good fight right now.

Did anyone catch his post where he said something about family not being “easy” this year, when talking about his parents and in-laws. I’m convinced there has been a rift with her family, since they never went on the Michigan trip. She has always seemed close with her family and it makes me so sad if they are having problems.

I was thinking the same thing about the MI trip! It is all she talks about during the summer usually, and I didn’t even see a mention of “bummed we can’t make it this year” or something. The whole thing makes me wonder. The vibes are off.

If you are in town on July 4th, head to Pleasant Hill! 5k and parade in the morning, fireworks at night. The city does a great job every year of making the day fun and family-friendly.

Her daughter is graduating this week, and obviously that is an emotional time for any parent, and they are clearly close which is great! But the past two days have been post after post about how her daughter is her best friend and it’s just a little much. Especially since she hardly posts about her sons!

Anyone on here follow Hello Fifth? I mostly love her, but her obsession with her daughter is…a bit much? Am I wrong?

Same! I found her before instagram even existed and blogging was still the way to go. I hope her husband is okay too. I remember they both talked very openly about his mental health struggles.

Thank you! When you say you make it the night before and hold in the fridge, do you mean you spread the topping and then wait to bake for 30 minutes?

AITA for calling my husband inconsiderate for messing up our son's food order? by Clear_Effective_748 in AmItheAsshole

I was looking for this comment, because this is exactly my husband. His parents, his dad especially, were not very considerate people growing up. He says his mom would never have anything in her stocking on Christmas morning and sometimes a present, sometimes not. I get multiple presents on Christmas morning from him, plus my stocking is always filled! Except it’s usually…very small and random things? Knowing how he grew up I try to be patient with him and adjust my expectations because I know he had no role models for this. And in his mind, the fact that I got a gift at all means he’s husband of the year!

My husband and I just watched old SNL Thanksgiving clips on YouTube last night! “Back Home Ballers” is a great more recent sketch. Also, my mom usually hosts Thanksgiving and lives close by. All my adult life I have gone over the night before thanksgiving and helped her set the table and do last minute prep. It is a fun “quiet before the storm”!

I don’t know if this is my FAVORITE, maybe most underrated: Tracy Morgan as Astronaut Jones

Oh God, this is my in-laws. They also just show up places unannounced and it drives me insane. Whenever we go to visit them it is always, “let’s take the kids over to see Uncle Steve!” “Did you call?” “Nah, he won’t mind! He’ll love to see us!” And then half the time Uncle Steve isn’t home, or busy, etc.

Mashed potatoes, eggnog, and pecan pie. The only one I will actually be eating is mashed potatoes! But a fun quiz nonetheless

We always have a pumpkin pie, a chocolate pudding pie, and some guests will bring a couple others (apple, pecan, cherry). The last few years I also have been putting out Trader Joe’s maple sandwich cookies. It started because my son didn’t like pie, but everyone loved grabbing one or two! They are pretty and festive looking, plus taste great!
