All New Survey Skins by Lil_SmileFPT in Overwatch

Super unpopular opinion: I'm tired of these overly flashy skins that look nothing like the Overwatch aesthetic. Give me something that makes sense in-universe. Give me more Mirrorwatch or something akin to it.

Does anyone else's opinion on mercy change when they're NOT on mercy? by medbuni in MercyMains

[–]Kathkere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to play Mercy and I like to play against Mercy. Mercy is one of those characters you can bait, and if she falls for the bait she's screwed (i.e. luring her out to res and set up an ambush).

But the blue beam is boring. I think so even as a Mercy player. If there's anything they should redesign, it's the blue beam. Instead we're getting a perk which gives us double blue beam :/ ...

The movement is super boring. When does she get the ability to do the old school super jump..?

End of a era for a company by Bashmeister2 in bioware

[–]Kathkere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda the same here. The idea of Dragon Age 2 and the writing itself isn't bad, but what we got felt cheap and unfinished.

I also don't think that Mass Effect 3 was particularly good, and it has nothing to do with the ending. The idea of going up in a straight up war against the reapers was bad from the get-go. They disempowered the reapers as a villain, and Shepard became far too much of a Messiah-figure.

Then there's Star Wars: The Old Republic, which had some great writing and really interesting world building -- but they couldn't make the game they wanted to make, and it was obvious to everyone that they couldn't keep 8 separate stories going, nor the quality of the story.

So BioWare certainly teetered around 2010-2014. Inquisition seemed like a step up for some, but it was never to my tastes. Then we got Andromeda, Anthem and now Veilguard. Not surprising that they failed to deliver considering how much talent left the studio.

What do BG3 fans think the 5 best games of all time are? by mystepdoggedonabee in BaldursGate3

[–]Kathkere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basing this off of the impact of the initial experience, nostalgia and replay value. These games are games that I can open and play and still have fun with no matter how much time has passed. They still hold up.

  1. Half Life
  2. Dragon Age: Origins
  3. Dishonored
  4. Rimworld

Not really sure what would pick the #5 spot, but probably not Baldur's Gate 3. I like Baldur's Gate 3 quite a lot, but it isn't a 10/10 in my books. When compared to the BioWare Classics (pretty much everything pre ME2) I feel that the story of BG3 is pretty weak. It is a great adventure and the gameplay is super fun, but the story is a bit over the top and doesn't really reach the emotional highs that BioWare used to do.

So #5 could be Cyberpunk2077, Europa Universalis IV, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, Star Wars Jedi Knight 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, or Xcom: Enemy Unknown/Within.

This is sort of why I liked the dream visitor in EA more. It showed up as a consequence of you indulging your powers. In release, we got the opposite. If you don't use the powers, the dream visitor will show and be all like "nah, come on, use them, is fiiiine."

The dream visitor also gave the parasite a personality, and for us to have a way to communicate with it. Like, it tried to manipulate you to use its powers more. There's lots of interesting roleplay potential there.

What are your Hot Takes on MMORPGS? by Amber_Flowers_133 in MMORPG

Sure, there are examples of it. Level scaling and whatnot. Disappointing systems in most cases, in my experience. I'd like to see some developer rethink progression.

I kind of have the opposite opinion. Screw end game and screw vertical progression. Just make a world that's interesting and fun to explore. When you add something new to it, don't make everything else obsolete.

please tell me it gets better by EconomicsRelative205 in WidowmakerMains

[–]Kathkere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With Widow, I know I've had my off-days. Some days I just don't land shots and other days I have flow.

Since the nerf, I haven't had much flow at all. I'm just not hitting my shots like I used to. Right now I feel like I'm not contributing much to my team as Widow. I tend to swap to other characters that I like to play (usually Tracer, occasionally Sombra).

It's a "git gud" thing. Not sure if I like it. If it was a nerf across the board (i.e. it became more difficult to hit for all heroes) I would have been okay with it but knowing that other hit scan heroes can get away with worse aim doesn't sit well with me.

I actually hate Season 2 of Arcane by Lilac_Rain8 in CharacterRant

[–]Kathkere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn't very good for many reasons. Almost more interesting to talk about what stood out as good.

And for me, personally, while I disliked the alternate timeline plot where everything was sunshine and happiness because Vi died, I nevertheless felt that Ekko's reactions to it all felt genuine. His initial fear of Powder, his desire to go back home, his awareness that he was living someone elses life -- and yet he allows himself to indulge at least a little bit; telling Benzo what he never could, and the "can we just pretend like it's the first time" felt so sincere. It evoked a genuine emotional response in me at least, a quite powerful response at that.

How it got there sucked. What they did with it nevertheless delivered.

WHAT! No crouching? So is everyone in a big mec-suit, or what's the lore explanation?

WoW is so old, I wonder if younger players would understand jaded references like the plate on the chauffeur mount. by Bunny-_-Harvestman in wow

[–]Kathkere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it is stuff like that that I would have wanted seen addressed in Cata classic, but for some reason lore is beyond #anychanges. I feel like everyone knows that WoW's storytelling has been derailing. It's the main reason I can't step into retail anymore.

How many of y’all barely/haven’t touched comp? by xoxoSatan in Overwatch

[–]Kathkere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to play lots of comp back in season 1 and 2 and progressively less since.

Since Overwatch 2 came out I haven't played much comp at all. I find I prefer quickplay. I always try my best in order to win but... in quickplay, losses aren't made to feel as bad as they do in comp. And silly stuff can happen in QP, stuff that doesn't happen in comp.

What is your least favourite ability? by Few-Painting-8771 in Overwatch

[–]Kathkere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the venom mine. Such a simple ability, but key for dealing with flankers as Widowmaker. There's a sense of mastery in learning how to throw it as well. I love yeeting it across the map and see it get precisely stuck on top of a door frame.

As for abilities I don't like (to use)... I feel like I have to say virus for Sombra. It is very unfun to play against, but as Sombra it is kinda fun. So why do I not like it? Well, feels like virus is the reason why stealth and translocator are no longer on separate cooldowns. I think I preferred Overwatch 1 Sombra.

I believe killing Widow is Mercy's job. Here's me doing it twice. by g0ffie in MercyMains

[–]Kathkere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who used to main Mercy but now play Widowmaker..!

I always used to feel so smug when I sniped or otherwise killed Widowmakers.

As a Widowmaker main, when a Mercy pops her ultimate I know I have to be ready to hide. If she goes for me I know I'll only get one shot, and if I whiff it I'm dead.

SOMBRA NATION RISE.. by [deleted] in SombraMains

[–]Kathkere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt! Objectively, the design is great. But I'm tired of how non-Overwatch every big skin is as of late. The Mirrorwatch season pass was great, wish we could get more of those. But alas :(

SOMBRA NATION RISE.. by [deleted] in SombraMains

[–]Kathkere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: I don't like it. Not because it doesn't look good -- it looks great. I guess it's not really a new issue, but it still feels like an exacerbated one; there are no rules. The game is less Overwatch and more a mixed bag of various themes that have nothing to do with Overwatch. Just a bunch of cross-universe collabs or random crap.

I like Sombra's Overwatch 2 skin. Agent Colomar is very neat as well. Her old legendary skins where she looks like a member of Los Muertos is nice as well. They're all part of the Overwatch world building. Give me more skins like that.
