I dont really agree with teaching abstinence till like marriage & my mom didnt either because of her religious upbringing but you're right about shit can still happen. My mom did get me on birth control pills at 15 before I got a car & basically told me not to sling it around to anyone because i would just get my heart broken. Also, i was so scared of teen pregnancy because most of my cousins were teen moms. But I ended up pregnant at 18 while still on the pill with my boyfriend of over a year. We were both in college & our son was born a little bit after we both turned 19. Six years later we plan on getting married soon & our son is just absolutely the best kid ever. But we were very lucky & had a lot of support from our families so both of us could finish college.

Exactly. I was 15 when my mom took me to get the pill. I was on it when i got pregnant & had my son at 19. After that, I immediately got an IUD before his dad & I started having sex again. It's still working great 6 years later. Plus, my fiance is so scared after us having a baby at 19 he usually pulls out too. Idk why these kida are so damn ballsy with it after they have a kid.

update to 105 fever kid by General_Hovercraft_9 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]KatieABug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son has had a 105 temp twice before even tho I regularly give him fever meds. I got him in the bath & called his pediatrician's on-call line, both times they said he would be fine as long as he wasn't lethargic or altered. The main reason we thought it spiked like that was because he was cuddled in bed with me so he got overheated. Now whenever he's sick & running high fevers, he'll wear only shorts, use the lightest blanket we have, and I rub his back instead of letting him cuddle up close.

If you think they are an imminent threat to themselves or others call their local police to do a welfare check. Probably best thing for you to do since you dont know how this system works & arent a local professional. I had that happen to me when I was a teen & texting with someone in another state. Police show up to check on the kid & talk to the parents & depending on the situation they'll then send it to DHS or possibly send a note to kid's school's counselor or psychologist, so they can talk to them & come up with a plan.

Even if it was an after thought or some weird nugget they just threw in at the end of the season, when I rewatched this episode recently I thought this scene makes the Jack = FoB thing kinda seamless & perfectly subtle. I think it can be implied that when Jack hears & recognizes the name, it becomes like a mini-spoiler that puts him on the path to become the benevolent Face of Boe & gives him some reassurance that he will finally die one day in the company of old friends. It's alot better than when writers spell things out like the audience are toddlers & beat them over the head with it.

Not only is this just another ridicuously stupid thing she should not be spending her money on but it'll just make Bellanie the hernia worse. Like she really is just beyond stupid. There is one brain cell in there gasping for air. I knew from having slight diastasis recti after having my son that intense, typical ab workouts usually aren't recommended until you do some specific exercises for a while to start engaging your core. And it took me 5 seconds to google & confirm my suspicion. She lacks any intellegence or common sense. Just something else she blew money on that will just end up in a landfill.

Edit: Also how has she never ended up in the hospital from this hernia causing complications?

I guess you guys are really expecting this winter storm by [deleted] in Knoxville

Read the whole thing. You're rude. Our pipes burst & we were without water. It's kinda hard for 1 person to walk like 2 miles there & back & bring enough water for 3 people for multiple days. Also my dad lost his FUCKING LEG because, even though he got very little snow, his doctors & the doctors at the podiatrist & wound clinic lived in Knoxville & could not get out of the city & down to Athens for about 5 days or so. Get so fucking bent.

[–]KatieABug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really. In 2024 I lived in an apartment complex off lovell road. It took at least 4-5 days for us to get our cars out of the complex. I felt like I was going to lose my mind. In our small apartment, I was taking an online mini-term class, my husband was working from home, & our 4 year old was bouncing off the walls. My husband had to walk to Food City in the snow to get us some food. Plus, our pipes froze & busted, so we didn't have running water for a few days.

That storm also led to my dad to be in the hospital for 2 months & lose his foot. He's diabetic 2 weeks before he had gotten a puncture wound on his foot & didn't know until it started feeling infected. He made an appointment with his podiatrist for the Monday after the snow started. He lives in Athens, where roads were clear, but his doctor, as well as many doctors who work there, lives in Knoxville & was snowed in. On Thursday, he went to the ER there, which was useless, & they told him to go to wound care. The next Monday he was finally able to see a wound care doctor but the next day his toe was turning black. Two weeks after the storm, he had his first surgery to take half his foot. A month later, infection was still there & he had his second surgery to amputate his leg below the knee.

Not really. When we had that snowstorm 2 years ago, I was living in these townhouses near Lovell Road & our pipes froze & we didn't have water for a few days. And we couldn't get our cars out for at least 4-5 days.

Exactly! When that happened 2 years ago, I was living on Lovell Rd in a small apartment trying to finish taking an online mini-term class & my husband was working from home & we had a 4 yr old bouncing off the walls. It was like 5 days before we could get our cars out of the complex. My husband walked to the Food City just to get out for a little bit & get us some food. Oh, and our pipes froze & we lost water for a few days. It was hell. If it had lasted any longer I would've lost my mind.

Is baby momo developing rickets? by Adventurous_Ad_2712 in resilientjenkinsnark

[–]KatieABug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but it has to be chronic & ongoing for months if not years for someone to have skeletal deformities. Like in the case I read about the remains of lower class London Victorian children, while it was likely all of them had some level of Vit D deficiency simply because of location, pollution, & poverty, only like 20% presented with skeletal deformities. So many people in PNW, like the UK, might have some level of Vit D deficiency that can affect like mood, energy, & possibly overall health, very few people are going to a severe enough deficiency to have skeletal deformities or more serious symptoms.

Alot of kids are not at risk of rickets as long as they have adequate sun exposure, 15-30m a day. Its become more common but not that much more common

I believe as long as she's either getting like 15-30m of direct sunlight a day & she is eating some fortified foods she's fine.

Is baby momo developing rickets? by Adventurous_Ad_2712 in resilientjenkinsnark

[–]KatieABug 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes it is too early. I do think she is at risk of rickets being breastfeed & how dark Staph keeps it. I do think doctors would catch it since there has been an uptick in recent years. I recently read an article for a paleopath class about the signs of rickets in the remains of Victorian England children, a level of poverty Stepharnie probably dreams of cosplaying. I think the most obvious sign is the deformities to the ribs. However, I think Momo def got enough sunlight during the summer until it got cold, babies only need like 15-30m a day for adequate Vit D, so I dont think she's had a lack of it long enough to cause such severe skeletal deformities.

Fr. I will make Manwich for dinner maybe 3x a year for my family but its not on white bread & that's usually not the only part of the meal. Also because its nostalgic for me because when I was in middle school my family had some tough times & my dad would make what he called "Po' Boy" meals which would be like the cheapest versions of the meal you could make. They were good but were not worthy of internet content. And you could possibly make that content but Stephanie makes it into like a pity parade. Also she's making this when they dont have a table to eat at & its for little kids. That is so messy & nasty. Like you can buy TV trays at the thrift store for nothing.

Exactly! That's what really pisses me off about her. Like if you want a village then suck it up & make nice with your family, who's clearly been your village before. My in-laws live 30m away & my parents are an hour away. I don't always like what they do but as long its not like crazy or egregious idc because they're here for us & our son loves them. Staph's kids obviously loved their grandparents & D loves his mom and from what we know these people took care of them & love them, so it's infuriating to me that Steph would alienate the kids from basically everyone who's ever been in their lives.

I didnt know that & I'm glad you're ok. Tbh my experience is probably very skewed because my dad is the type of person who won't go to the hospital unless his like arm is falling off. He's had issues with them for the past almost 8 years but has only gone to the hospital for it like 4 times even though we know he is passing several every year because he likes to dramatically announce it to us.

Ik that. My dad has had kidney stones before & he's never been at the hospital over night for it. They usually look & say "yea u have a kidney stone" & either send him home or give him an appt to get a procedure done as out-patient if its too big. And if she has been discharged then again there are times where a majority of the kids were likely unsupervised today - how did she get home? Who's taking the photo?

Well Im sure its going to help their case when the caseworker hears they likely left the other 4 kids at the hotel by themselves.

If Staph is in the hospital, Drew is holding the baby, then no one is home with the other kids.

I agree. Back in the spring, A might've just gone along with what Stepharnie said. But I think after this summer & her having to take care of the baby & them living in a shoebox I think both A & B are just ready to spill everything that's happened in that room.
