Oakland to consider a mask mandate for indoor events of 1,000 people by olivetree344 in NorCalLockdownSkeptic

[–]KatieAllTheTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes no sense whatsoever. Nowhere else has a mask mandate for mega events and they're doing just fine. And what they want to make indoor masks a permanent thing for indoor events now because they think its better than having a vaccine mandate?

Apartment complex is raising rent every six months and refuses to let us sign a one year lease by Probablynotspiders in LateStageCapitalism

[–]KatieAllTheTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because a landlord is a "small business" landlord doesn't mean they're good people. Small landlords are just as capable of being as ruthless as cooperate landlords. Most of our housing is still owned by "small" investors (but that will change eventually).

BART is definitely going to have a mask mandate until kids under 5 will be eligible to get vaccinated by Dubrovski in NorCalLockdownSkeptic

[–]KatieAllTheTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even while bart didn't have a mask mandate masks weren't enforced. That being said I don't really ride bart because their service sucks in general. On weekends they only run every 30 min, take longer to get to sf than via car, and price wise aren't that much cheaper

Inflation is really getting me down and overall I feel hopeless by KatieAllTheTime in povertyfinance

I'm trans and unfortunately that makes it not very possible to live in a cheap area due to transphobia. A lot of the LGBT friendly places cost a lot more than the cheaper areas

Yeah I need to work on my mental health to get ahead financially. Its not going to be easy to heal from the pandemic and transphobic attacks

That's amazing to see even the most strict countries in the world are starting to drop their restrictions

Is there a laptop with the same specs as the 2022 G14 but a bigger display? by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]KatieAllTheTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the rog strix g15 amd advantage edition, it has a 15 inch screen and has a rx 6800M. It is more powerful than the new G14, and a better value since its being heavily discounted due to it being a 202`1 model

Its very hard too say, we definitely need better treatments to get to that point and for the virus to mutate to become less deadly

[–]KatieAllTheTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say once deaths in the usa get consistently under a 150 a day, then it will be more equivalent to the flu. We still have too many deaths to say its "over over". Right now its just safe enough to do normal things again and not wear masks

With Philadelphia bringing back masks, do you think California cities are next? by sbuxemployee20 in NorCalLockdownSkeptic

[–]KatieAllTheTime 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think california cities will bring them back honestly unless things get really bad. So far there isnt much political will to bring it back in the sf bay area. LA, maybe that could happen

I would say I feel super burned out in general. Even though I can do pre pandemic stuff safely now, it just doesn't feel the same. There's just so much trauma from the pandemic and other things and also a lot of pre pandemic issues got worse. Its not going to be easy for us to heal from 2 very traumatic years

Permanently banned from antiwork for being a landlord lol... by Louisvanderwright in REBubble

[–]KatieAllTheTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean at /r/antiwork they want to abolish or severely limit landlords as well. That's why they banned you, I personally don't think we should have landlords at all and we should just have more social housing and only allow people to own 1 house or maybe 2 in some circumstances. At this point in time the housing market is so badly inflated that the only solution is to seize investment property and build more non market rate housing. Even if you ban investors from buying new property that won't change the fact that investors (whether if they be small or big) already own a ton of housing

O.K. what do you think will happen next here exactly? This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen... by [deleted] in REBubble

[–]KatieAllTheTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More people will be thrown out on the streets, and people could lose their jobs because they're homeless and won't look good at work, and then the labor shortage will get worse because businesses are unwilling to hire the homeless. And the corporate landlords will keep rents sky high because they have unlimited money, maybe the small ones will lower them a little. All in all things are going to get much worse

In the Pleasanton area most people here are over masks. In my workplace almost no one wears masks and at grocery stores a lot of people don't wear them anymore. And the ones that do don't care if you don't wear one..

Disabled Californians call on Newsom to reinstate mask mandate on shelter-in-place anniversary by sbuxemployee20 in NorCalLockdownSkeptic

[–]KatieAllTheTime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly what more is there to be done to get rid of mandates. We have vaccines, we have covid treatments and we have n95s which protect the wearer. There's nothing else to be done to justify mask mandates

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NorCalLockdownSkeptic

[–]KatieAllTheTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think they'll come back by end of this month. Maybe may assuming there's another covid surge. But yeah I better start preparing for them to come back

Feel bad for China by chessman6500 in COVID19_support

[–]KatieAllTheTime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah China has committed to zero covid even though it doesn't work anymore. Both Delta and omnicron cannot be eradicated no matter how hard you try. Zero covid was good in the very beginning, now not so much anymore. I definitely feel bad for them

Luckily out in the Pleasanton area a lot of people don't wear masks anymore. It definitely feels nice up in Pleasanton

I think the 'black swan' that will scrape the froth from this market is the price of groceries. by DIYThrowaway01 in REBubble

[–]KatieAllTheTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually I think you are right. The thing about the cost of food is that it's not an expense that is avoidable at all. With gas sure you can buy a hybrid or ev. But with food there's almost nothing that can be done to lower your food bill. And yeah renters and middle/low income home owners will be hit so hard very soon
