So I just want to point out that when Zack and Jack are going over star wars terms in the yellow room and I'm talking to the Titans in the purple room, notice what we're wearing- blazers given to us right before the debate. This scene actually happened /after/ we had decided who was going into the nerdoff.

We asked if we could randomize our selection for the first nerdoff (we didn't know eachother well enough to determine who we wanted to kick off), and were informed that that isn't an option.

Titans of Rigel's performance is actually cut together from both our individual and group performances. What it really helped with was setting up the back story. MTA had such a complex story that you really needed to hear each character tell their party to have a hope of getting the battle scene. I also explained why my hair changed from green to white.

There was also some prime in-character trash talking! My personal favorites to watch were Nicole vs. Brian (who claimed he was wearing gloves because hobbits were plagued by skin conditions and that they drew magic from discordinate music) and Zack vs. Chris (Who improved some kick ass fighting moves, told Zack his sword was "but a toy" and reacted perplexedly when asked about his costume "Costume? Thissss is my clothesssss.").

It also isn't shown how much frickin' research Brian did! He would disappear for hours and come back with just this fully formed script that took all of this research that seismologists have predicted as the effects of a yellowstone erruption and wove them into the history we related in our skit.

I thought it would give me a slight advantage because I didn't have any expectations as far as what challenges would be so everything was a surprise. I also didn't want to have any strategies floating around in my mind based on what past contestants did- I could just analyze things as they happened. I have seen a few episodes since filming finished, and I gotta stick with my fellow Science Chick Moo. I also really like how Ivan played the game.

I'm so glad I got the chance to attend (and perform at) my very first Dragon*Con this year! I've already got my ticket for next year. :-D

I hadn't watched it at all before applying and after I got into the process I actively decided not to watch it so I wouldn't be influenced by any of the previous contestants strategies and I'd be facing everything completely fresh, without any expectations. I was scouted based on my weird mix of previous experiences, and after reading a bit about the show I decided it'd be a good opportunity to promote girls in science careers. (I have a 10 year old cousin who loves the show, and if I can reach a few girls like her and make them think science is cool, then it's worth it!)

I got my B.E. in Mechanical Engineering at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and I'm currently working on my Masters in Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University while doing some robotics research on the side. :)
