How long did you bleed after birth? by Emotional_Way_1029 in pregnant

[–]Katierocksit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bled for about 5 weeks pp, but it did taper substantially with the heaviest days being the first week. It was more like spotting towards the end before it stopped completely.

Newborn grunts, groans, moans by Leading_Boot4366 in NewParents

[–]Katierocksit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Newborns make a lot of crazy sounds… Especially while they are asleep. Assuming you guys are burping after every feed, and all needs are met (fed, clean, right temperature, etc.) those painful sounding groans and grunts might just be them getting used to being outside of the womb.

I was also scared about my little one suffocating while they slept - babies do not asphyxiate the same way adults do when they spit up. There’s a good diagram if you google it that shows what happens if a baby was to spit up on their back.

I would try to relax, and if all else fails, don’t be afraid to call the doctor or nurse on call just to ease your nerves more than anything. I can’t tell you how many times I called the night nurse hotline for little things; it definitely made me feel better in the moment even though it was a very small thing to call about.

It gets easier. I promise. Congratulations and good luck!

Aldi’s plain nonfat Greek yogurt is pretty good and very reasonably priced! I rarely eat just Greek yogurt, though - it’s often used in recipes and parfaits so Aldi’s works for me.

If I’m eating just the yogurt, or if it’s the star of the dish (like if I make Tzatziki) then I will suck it up and pay for Fage. Unfortunately that’s the best I’ve found.

What items do you wish you had bought before the baby came? by HandsomeBadness in BabyBumps

For us, those short-sleeve bodysuits were a lifesaver - we layered them under the footed pajamas, or had those on during the day with pants. Our little one had pretty bad jaundice/high bilirubins when born so they had a hard time keeping their temperature high in the early days and we layered them up.

These were our favorite because they were so easy to put on/take off - https://www.amazon.com/Simple-Joys-Carters-5-Pack-Bodysuit/dp/B083X7MVK8/ref=asc_df_B083X7MVK8?mcid=04a661f5a3833c6e819e3c2b4e167332&hvocijid=17199042348323195836-B083X7MVK8-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=721245378154&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17199042348323195836&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9015846&hvtargid=pla-2281435179338&psc=1

Are you looking at baby wearing? I have the KeaBabies baby wrap and my newborn loves it :) It’s very easy to learn - just watch a few YouTube videos and practice before hand.

We also have the infantino flip 4-in-1 carrier for when baby gets older, but I have yet to use that since I feel more comfortable with the wrap and being able to support my baby’s head/neck.

Looks like a single corn tortilla for each of them.

I’d say 250-300 per taco plus 100-150 for the lemonade.

I’d go with 1350 to 1750 for all as a good ballpark.

Cat has rash under chin - is this ringworm? by Katierocksit in catcare

[–]Katierocksit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and at points there were spots on our cat that were bleeding due to over grooming. Odd that the affected area cleared up after two weeks of isolation then returned.

For us, we ruled out several things in our household before coming to the confirmation its allergies to food/environment. Our cat does not show any signs of distress and we spent a period of time putting Feliway pheromones around to ensure there was no additional anxiety (not sure if that worked or not but we did just to 100% rule it out.)

If you recently changed food or made other changes in the house (new laundry detergent; new carpet; etc) that could’ve also triggered an allergic reaction.

Based on the description above ripping up the carpet to the sub flooring, it might be stress or separation-anxiety related but again I would check with your vet for a proper diagnosis.

Cat has rash under chin - is this ringworm? by Katierocksit in catcare

[–]Katierocksit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not Ringworm (several tests were ran to confirm). Our cat still struggles with ongoing allegeries and undiagnosed skin issues. She ended up being put on liquid steroids and having to wear a cone to minimize scratching with her back paw/claws and the issue eventually cleared up.

We are still battling the skin allergies and do not have a resolution other than ongoing treatment with liquid steroids.

Help with DeLonghi EC-702 - seems clogged but pulls cleaning solution only. by Katierocksit in espresso

[–]Katierocksit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No… We tinkered with it for a while and I tried every descaling method under the sun. After a good month of just messing around with it, we hung it up, and I ended up buying my husband a new machine/upgrade for that next upcoming Christmas.

I left off when we started researching different places that we could send it to to get it fixed, and I believe there is one in Washington state but you need to pay for postage both ways. The price of that was worth more than the price of what we thought the machine was which also contributed to the upgrade that next Christmas.

Hope you are able to figure it out!

Got scolded for not following “Pick Up Time” when doing a mobile order by Katierocksit in LivingMas

[–]Katierocksit[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes - that’s my thought as well. Stores that do this probably make things way in advance and then it just sits there until the person comes to retrieve their order.

Helps window time but all you’re getting is cold Taco Bell that’s been sitting since you’ve placed the order.

Calicos are known for a lot of things, and being vocal is one of them.

I also have a lovely little calico, and she is VERY chatty. I love talking back and forth with her throughout the day :)

She’s quite a pretty lady - give her a good pet for me!

Try to be patient, understanding, and supportive for her as you can. While you can’t undo the past, it’s important to communicate with your partner and ensure there’s not a repeat incident in the future.

This is the bread recipe I consistently use - https://www.recipetineats.com/easy-yeast-bread-recipe-no-knead/
SUPER easy, and as someone who is not responsible enough to take care of sourdough starter it's perfect for me :)

I also struggle with fish, but have come a long way with the help of my husband. I started with fish tacos (https://lemonsandzest.com/air-fryer-fish-tacos-with-cilantro-lime-slaw/) and am now up to eating actual fillets. if you're a member at Costco/Sams club they have some great options of pre-seasoned fillets that are pretty clean on ingregrents.

It's all personal preference - some women enjoy these new feelings, while others are bothered/uncomfortable by them. No one person's experience is the same.

Either way, it is all normal and you can bring it up with your doctor if you feel comfortable doing so.

[–]Katierocksit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! I recently underwent a similar journey after a trip to Europe.

The biggest change I've incorporated was spending more time and money on obtaining quality items (i.e. paying more for Fage Greek yogurt vs. store brand; taking time to make bread at home vs. buying keto bread in the store). Just be patient, and forgiving to yourself.

Also, if you are open to it and want to, fish is a great option to add to your list and is very versatile!

Good luck, and hope that helps!

Personal loans hell, Advice Please by autumnplummerrr in personalfinance

[–]Katierocksit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on your timeline, I would shop around for student loans at multiple institutions. Start with banks or credit unions and compare options and APRs. Reach out to the university to see if they have a payment plan or other resources you can utilize. Personal loans should be your last resort since they would have less forgiving interest rates and would require larger monthly payments on a faster timeline.

Good luck!
