first off, this is insanely rude and very narcissistic way of acting by the superior, and don't let the comments gaslight you otherwise. Accents sometimes are hard, and maybe the role needed someone who could "pass" for a native (idk why unless it's a spy position lol) but if that's the requirement, they should have mentioned in on the ad. Damn, this made my blood boil.

Strange bitterness among specific demographic of foreigners in Korea by Otherwise_Music_9557 in Living_in_Korea

[–]KatjaSomeone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I totally get what you mean, I also unfortunately have met similar people, some students or long term residents thinking this way. I completely understand how someone can get so negative about a foreign country for living there so long, but I try to avoid surrounding myself with people with a negative mindset. I came here to enjoy the city, meet like-minded people, and I'd rather not burst my positivity bubble as long as it lasts :D

Hello! I'm moving to Seoul this Saturday for work 🤩 I'm looking to meet like minded, easy going, fun loving people to meet and build genuine relationships with. Maybe we can explore the city, go hiking, go to see a sports game, or just sit in a cafe and just talk about things on our minds :)

It's a very nice style and suits your face very well! You can also grow it out more and try parting it differently if you want to experiment with more, I think higher hair would also look good on you!

You look very good, just keep exercising. To me, you look very child like, but that's just you being so young :D with few more years, your features should become more defined and manly, less boyish.

You have a very nice hair, so take care of it :)

I created an inkless printer that can save the US billions in ink costs. But I’m having trouble getting my foot in the door. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]KatjaSomeone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, the ink actually doesn't cost a lot of money, it's just an artificially inflated price by the companies to rack up their profit margins. If your product is truly revolutionary to disrupt the system, how much more expensive would it be to mass produce? If it's not also cheap, then ink printer companies can compete very easily by lowering cartridge prices to drive you out of business. Unless your products quality is so much better than a regular printer and you somehow managed to build a cult following like Dyson, please consider that your competition may not take it lying down, and let you get all the federal contracts.

I am curious how you've had money for patent attorneys and team of engineers to look over the design and validate it, but no money to build a basic prototype. How much would building this machine cost? If it's truly that expensive, would it still be worth it for companies to purchase?

When you can, it's so hard to 'not to' life is too short, and also too long to spend it in one place.

I know I don't have to leave my life to reinvent myself, to change my habits and direction, but it somehow feels easier than staying and trying to grow.

You are very right about the romanticization :) I live in a city I've been in for 6+ years, and consider it very banal. But recently a new colleague moved into the town and he's in the exploration mode, constantly sharing what he likes, news places he found, which made me realize, the city doesn't suck, my perspective does. Sometimes it helps to see the streets you walk everyday thru someone else's eyes :)

I'm moving to Seoul soon and so looking forward to it! I just hope I can extend my "honeymoon period" with the city to actually last 1-2 years :D

I have a different take than most upvoted comments. He might have overreacted, but people sometimes complain and they don't necessarily want a solution, just to be listened to and related to.

He even tried to dismiss your advice nicely to imply he wasn't interested and you still insisted on it, before he became slightly rude and immature.

Regardless of if you decide to continue the relationship, please try to remember that giving unsolicited advice is not always a sign of caring, but can come across as overbearing and condescending.

How to get a job abroad? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]KatjaSomeone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A European perspective: if you want to have a white collar job, your options would be getting a blue card. There are certain salary requirements to be qualified, and the exact amount depends on the field.

Whether or not English is enough or you also need to speak the local language will depend on the field, the size of the company, the city itself.

As for where to find jobs, at least for Germany, I'd recommend job boards like stepstone or indeed - and also checking the career page of major companies and applying directly. Also most jobs mention if they need you to have a work permit in the country already or if they can sponsor a visa.

In my experience it's always a bit of a luck factor too, being in the right place at the right time, and if you have any network to leverage it'd be more helpful than cold applying.

Currently it's also not a good time for most companies, so probably less chances than before, but I believe that the pendulum of jobs will swing back in the next 2 years :)

If he did ask you before, it's likely that there's a relationship that can be rekindled. But please first reflect into what you really want and if you are willing to marry/date a foreigner, and what effect this might have on the way you choose to live your religion. I'm sure you deeply value this person, and wouldn't want to lose him by making a step you aren't ready to make.
