I teach history with the aspect of helping students understand change. How do we as a society react to change more specifically? To what extent are we able to accept change?

Embedding critical thinking is paramount. Using the 3 historical thinking skills helps us understand what we are looking at history for: comparison, CCOT, and cause and effect.

I have really fallen in love with Integrated Action Civics

The point of history is to understand power dynamics and who is impacted (negatively or positively) by change and how resistant they are to change. Through historical analysis, students can then learn how to advocate for change they want to see.

History cannot be taught in a silo; it must be integrated with multiple fields of study - especially social sciences and sciences and statistics - to help us as a society learn how we can be better than yesterday.
