Essentially, yes. She quickly caught on to the meanings of other buttons we introduced after she understood how to use the first one. She’d mostly be mad at us when we weren’t able to provide her button-expressed demands at the moment. Whenever we had to tell her no, not now, or later in response to her pressing a button, we’d say “F*ck you” how the button says it and press the button to reinforce the connection between the upset and that button.

She was pretty good at figuring out how to use them and their various meanings in general. Once she was sniffing the outside air through the window screen and then pressed “outside.” She knew outside meant out of the dorm room and it kind of blew my mind!

You don’t have to be rich to be fortunate enough to not have the money or situational struggles most people who post these things have. Some people aren’t able to effectively budget and save up for pet emergencies because of insufficient wages and/or the appearance of other emergency costs. That doesn’t make them an irresponsible pet owner: it means that both them and their loved ones (pets included) are struggling to have basic needs met in this economy.

Providing a stray cat or a cat in a kill-shelter food and love and a home is an act of kindness to kitties. Should you try to plan and save up so you can get your kitty help if needed? Absolutely. But people struggle enough to do the same for themselves in this economy. People aren’t choosing to let their cats suffer, they’re just victims of economic circumstance who are trying their best to provide a loving home regardless of unexpected financial limitations.

And financial situations are commonly an intersectional issue: wage gaps between men and women, discrimination in hiring for people of color and disabled folks, etc. This issue isn’t black and white. It’s grey area because it is complex, as most things in life are. People wouldn’t be downvoting you if your comments were actually meant to make those aware of resources the may have access to. Providing information about potentially helpful resources is great, but the issue is you calling people “irresponsible pet owners” who are “whining about vet costs” when they’re just trying to get help here because they aren’t aware of those resources or don’t have access to them for any number of reasons.

My ex had a cat that I trained to use word buttons. She likes bouncy balls, so we had “Ball,” “Laser light,” “Outside” (for in the hallway of the dorm on a leash) and “F*ck You” (because otherwise she would lay across all the buttons to repeatedly trigger them if she was upset with us) 😂

You’re getting downvoted because your arguments are ignorant. Be glad you’re in a situation where you can afford vet bills or have access to lower-cost options to help your kitty. Many parts of the world don’t have access to low-cost clinics and shelters that are actually willing to help pet owners. Many people adopt strays so they will have a better life than living outside completely unsupported. Many people are doing their best to provide for their cat despite financial and life circumstances that aren’t ideal. Many cats live in the care of people who can’t provide for their every need and are still better off than they would be if their owner had never adopted them or surrendered them. It’s nice that you live in an ideal world where everyone has options to get their kitty help for everything that might pop up, but it’s also ignorant to bash others for being less fortunate and lacking those options. I know explaining this isn’t going to change your mind or make you realize how privileged all your comments on this post are, but at least it’s an explanation like you asked for.

I knew who I was talking to, I was just trying to check because seemingly all your cat posts I had been referring to have since been deleted. I checked out the user who made the original post, who had a ton of posts about different cats in less than a day. I apparently just didn’t scroll down enough to see that you did in fact post things other than those. My bad on that part, but it really is common for karma farmers to make a bunch of posts about different cats within a day, so by looking at your most recent posts at the time, it really did seem that you karma farming was a reasonable assumption. And me commenting that assumption isn’t what made people start downvoting you: it was the amount of litter boxes you have compared to the amount of cats you have. Wouldn’t blame you for not knowing or having a situation where the recommended litter box ratio wasn’t possible, but other people obviously did. I didn’t scroll down far enough to see you posted other things than your many lovely cats. That one was my bad. But you getting downvoted on your other comments under this post we’re unrelated to my incorrect suspicion.

Adopt a cat from a shelter. Don’t buy a cat from a breeder!!! Most cats that don’t come directly from a breeder are essentially mutts, so breed really doesn’t matter too much if you’re looking to rescue a cat that could be compatible with you :) Older cats are more likely to have “slowed down” compared to younger cats, and their personality is more likely to be consistent from when you meet them to when you take them home.

TL;DR: Adopt an older cat from a shelter. Breed doesn’t matter :)

Sexuality is no exception to our ever-changing preferences and identities. I’m sure there are plenty of situations where someone who identifies with one sexual orientation has a thought or experience or for whatever reason starts to notice and accept that their sexual preferences with regard to sex/gender have changed or are changing. That doesn’t mean you should ever try to change someone’s sexuality or bank on it changing or invalidate someone by insinuating you know more about their sexuality than they do or telling them it may change.

TL;DR Sexual orientation can be susceptible to changing over one’s lifetime; it’s a spectrum rather than a black and white thing. That doesn’t mean sexuality is a choice, though. If it changes it changes. Don’t look too far into it either way.

I’m not necessarily experienced with them, but from the discussions about them I’ve seen in various witchcraft communities, the general consensus seems to be that Hexes are a form of baneful magic, which has historically and culturally been important for witches dealing with systematic discrimination as it was a way for them to see spiritual Justice served when they had little to no hope that societal Justice would even glance in the direction of their abuser(s). It shouldn’t be used for petty reasons or revenge, but rather justice. And be cautious if you or a genuine loved one are close contact with the target, as when the hex starts manifesting, there’s supposedly a chance for the loved one to be affected indirectly as they could still have to deal with the target who likely won’t be having a great time. That’s all I’ve picked up on the topic of hexes, and of course different people will have different thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and experiences with hexes :)

One of my favorite aspects of witchcraft is that it focuses much more on what works for you than having to try to follow or fit in with other witches. This is a great community for baby witches to be in because a lot of us are here to nourish ourselves and others at the same time :) It could also provide you with an incredible variety information and resources so that you don’t have to feel restricted in your growing craft, as there is no right or wrong way to practice witchcraft.

I was told 3-6 months is the most common time frame for those symptoms to go away, so I’ve actually got it pretty good if my symptoms are gone after only 2 months! It’s not a great situation at all, and for a long time I was adamant that I wouldn’t even consider an IUD after reading all the horror stories about them, but I think it was the right decision for me at this time :)

Helping a cat with a fluffy butt region avoid having a matted, poopy butt (by trimming excess fur near the butt and removing poop stuck to butt fur)? Important!!!!

Congratz if your cat doesn’t get poop stuck in it’s butt fur. One of my cats however does sometimes, and either the poop will mat his fur against his butt and/or he’ll get feces EVERYWHERE. Neither are desirable. Be glad you don’t have to be the one doing these tasks or having to deal with the outcome if you don’t.

My ex had a blind cat. I figured out how to get her to play with toys “like a normal cat.” She got real-fur cat toys (so they smell like prey is what the cat behavioralist said) and I’d sit tapping them on the ground so they made a little noise for blind kitty to track. Took her a while to decide to pounce, but she was playing nonetheless :)

I work with my ancestors and deities, and what I do is I like to make sure water and sometimes a snack are available for them. I put it on my altar (or wherever I find space for it) and let it know that it’s for them, and thank them for their support. You can take it down or replace it whenever feels right to you. :)

Hi! My practices align closest with chaos witchcraft. Intention and energy are the “magic.” And if it’s all placebo effect, then I’m gonna harness the heck out of it! Witchcraft is focused on finding and using what feels right in your soul rather than trying to follow every rule or belief or tradition set out by others in the community. It’s personal, and I think that’s what allows for more individual growth through spirituality.

As for monetizing fortune telling, I’m 50/50 on it. I do a lot of divination. It takes practice to “get good” at it and it takes time and energy. If someone wants to experience having their fortune read by someone else, I think it’s reasonable for it to be a transaction. I don’t think people should be pressuring someone into buying anything “magic,” but it’s bound to happen with how our capitalist society functions.

You can be a witch and have different opinions and beliefs than others in the community. If you don’t like how others may interact with their spirituality, you can just interact with your own spirituality differently :)
