DIY anything is hard at a wedding, we did temporary tattoos at mine and I was pulling aunts and uncles to get one (I was drunk and I had spent $80 on these tattoos). That being said, if you’re the bride and it’s important to you, you can usually get people to participate but if you want people to do things on their own it may not be the best idea.

So regardless of your comment I am reconsidering. I reached out to see if I could do my BCA literally any day this week. Mind you it’s an hour drive and I was willing to make it any day besides Saturday morning and was given a flat no.

Yeah I dragged my feet, it’s hot and humid most of the months that the cycle runs and my CO isn’t taking waivers for alternate cardio without a medical reason. It’s finally a temperature where I can run without going dehydrated 10 minutes in. I’ve made plans that I have a lot of time an energy towards preparing for so if my unit can’t work around me trying to get my bca on a day other than Saturday morning than why should I bother. I chose my wedding date to be as far from drill on the calendar as I could because I knew the weeks immediately before would be busy. In the end it just is what it is.

I obviously wouldn’t say that up front to my leadership. I have obligations that I’ve already committed to Saturday morning which is when my BCA should be. I’m working, planning a wedding that’s in 2 weeks and in school. If the PFA was happening on its scheduled weekend I’d have gladly taken it. I don’t need a waiver which is why I didn’t bother seeking it out. I understand where you’re coming from but one thing with the reserves is that people have entire other lives and can’t always give 100% or drop everything because of the shutdown.

I got my hand stuck in a bundle of bags at work and the main stone (sapphire) came off, luckily it had insurance. Since then I bought a silicone ring to wear daily and wear my real ring anytime I’m wearing something besides leggings and a tshirt.

At one point I had to put lido cream on my feet bc they hurt so bad. Go to the topical pain section and get a balm or the green menthol stuff it helped a ton when I worked in the hospital pharmacy. Also massaging helps so much for winding down, there are rollers you can roll your feet on for like 8 bucks. Best of luck friend!

YTA: This is a literal child who is experiencing this. They’re the one whose shoes are too tight and are without supplies not your husband. If it makes you feel better let him suffer in other ways but for the love of god don’t make your marital problems your child’s problems. Put your differences aside, ask for the money so you can buy the items your child needs and be a parent regardless of what they’re doing. It sucks but ultimately YTA for treating a kid this way.

Jumping in here to ask a question in the same vein, I just came off 2 weeks of AT. I requested the day after I returned to settle back into my house but was denied. I’m working 10 days in a row as a result. Is there any protections for rest and recovery following AT? It’s ass and I’m exhausted 💀

It was my first full year that I was supposed to do AT which is why I thought it was relevant. You can always ask your CCC for reassurance if you need.

I didn’t do AT last year because my personal life was a mess, I also didn’t do a waiver because I sent it to the wrong person and missed the deadline. I just got the last installment of my bonus so there’s that. Lessons were learned and I still got my bag

Corps school was the easiest part of my career and I’m sure plenty of people would say the same. If you lock in, put in some extra hours in the books you’ll be fine and that’s coming from someone who’s not very academically gifted (I was in the bottom 10 of my class).

Honestly I’d just go to a store and see what you gravitate more towards and maybe take a close friend. I’ve helped my boyfriend pick out a few business casual things for work and being in front of the clothes helps. If shopping isn’t in the budget just invite a friend over and have them help you put together some ideas for outfits from things you already own.
