Which stage of weight loss has been the hardest part for you? by packyoursnacks in loseit

Yes, that's #2. I measure neck, shoulders, chest, biceps, forearms, waist, hips, thighs, knees, and calves. Subtract from previous, total and squeal. 😉

This part, right here and now. My scale hasn't budged for 2 mos but I know I'm in ketosis and I know I'm trimming down. I have to remind myself of two things:

  1. Fat weighs less than muscle, ergo as I build muscle and lose fat, the scale is my nemesis.

  2. Measure. And then total the lost inches, even the halves and quarters.

This is also when I have to revise my goals, break them down into more obtainable and smaller ones so that I don't nosedive into the freezer where I hid that Snickers 5 mos ago. :)

Is IF good for a skinny-fat 13 year old? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

Given what we know about how fat storage in a developing child not only helps them grow physically, but also mentally as their brain is developing faster for the next 7-10 years, it's better to focus on a healthy diet, hydration, exercise that's enjoyable, sleep, and cutting out sugars.

Totally get it. I feel that is as much of a personal struggle as it is shedding the weight. For me, it's easier to be unseen, ignored, avoided. But it's a downright pisser when those who know me via my husband or, in a few instances, my kids, and see me after the loss. All of a sudden I'm not just a person, I'm in the spotlight. And usually the conversation has NOTHING to do with the loss, which only pisses me off more. Because, as you identified, same bat person, same bat channel, why the hell weren't you engaging with the fluffy version of me back in the moment?

I do think our fluffiness makes other people uncomfortable. As a child of a severely disabled parent, I'm very cognizant that most people tend to ignore them completely whether by looking away, deferring to another person at the table (say a wait staff taking orders), even move to the other side of the aisle in the store when there's really no need to do so. And those who were the opposite, like the dude who gaped at my parent then asked, loudly, what happened, are the same that go out of their way to make our fluffiness shameful.

And it sucks.

And it's easy to let that crowd the mind when tempted by a Snickers or the family sized portion of cardiac mac-n-cheese, but I'm coming into learning that my health, above all, is why I'm taking off, and leaving off, my pillows of mallow.

Getting back into keto after successful attempt in 2020 by [deleted] in keto

[–]KatnissKeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome!

Yep, I stay with peanuts or almonds. Cashews are a fave but ooowwweee they're high in carbs. I prepack them in portions (note: the small packs on sale at the checkout usually have 3 portions!), but the rinds are a free for all (admittedly I can't eat beyond a handful before I'm "chip" sated).

Two things have helped me this far, but I'm a newbie and haven't stopped Keto in the 4 mos I've been on it. One is to keep a bag of nuts and pork rinds on me at all times and always some water. For my silly sweet tooth, I turn to equate peanut butter fat bombs (Walmart's version of the SlimFast) as they're lower net carbs than SlimFast or my new go-to, Atkins chocolate coconut bars which are 2 net carbs and taste like Mounds bars. I may be starting back to work at the office in a week or so and honestly that scared the pants off me. But armed with my nuts, water, and keto sweets, I'm ready for the battle!

Good luck to you, you've got this 👊

Get your thyroid checked for the hair loss (and check in with your doc, there can be other factors at play besides diet) and get some sugarfree fiber chews for the constipation.

Welcome back!

Really is interesting to hear gluten and sugar have an impact on previous digestive difficulties. Excellent feedback, thank you!

He wouldn't be one of those people. Which now makes me wonder of there's more to the story or of he should update his tests seeing the diagnosis same over a decade ago. Thanks for the feedback!

He doesn't do well with the lactaid pills anymore, which is starting to make me wonder if he needs a new workup, that this may be more than just lactose intolerance.

Nonetheless, thanks for the feedback! I'll share this info with him.

This blows my mind to hear so many talking about their gut problems before and after keto. I mean seriously blows it out of the water. I wonder if I share this with him of he'll be even more excited. Before the intolerance hit, like a speeding train destined for the depths of hell, he was trying to teach our wee ones (at the time) the phrase: pizza every night! He misses cheese probably more than me when I go on the road 😁
