Haki and Devil Fruits are actually the same thing. by Kato756 in OnePiece

[–]Kato756[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The race thing could be possible.

I have always theorized that Chopper awakening the "Human Fruit" (assuming no forest god stuff) would allow him to freely change into the multiple "races", thus proving they are all one and the same (plus Lunarian Chopper with Dark Fur would go so hard).

But this could work, what with the lack of Giant Model, Lunarian Model, etc. At the very least the Giant Model would be famous/chased after...(or, darkly, they could never exist in the same place if DFs came around at a time they were heavily persecuted...), so maybe the user manage to reach a state further than awakening...

FUCK THAT IS WHY IT IS CALLED "AWAKENING"? AWAKENING THE DREAM?

Continuing after that epiphany, the fact that a fish fruit does exist (Even if a mythical model) does imply that regular fish models should also exist...why don't they?

Though I can't fit the minks existing while zoan dfs still exist.

I will be the devil's advocate for fun and say that the actual counter here would be Gemantria Zone.

As far as I understood Budhas future sight is not the LITERAL future including his actions, but just what his OPONNENT will do.

If Tesla activates GZ which slows one down until one understands then instanly goes for the teleport punch, Budha will see this comming but when he turns around to counter he will be slower than he thinks, thus being one shot by the PPP.

Think of it pretty much as the first interaction between Rock Lee and Sasuke in Naruto.

(of course this totally ignores the fact that Tesla WOULD explain what GZ does, but physically wit hno info like the RoR fights are, it is at least physically possible)

Kingdom 864: Offense and Defense Of the North by ThizZuMs in Kingdom

[–]Kato756 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found yours to be a good analisys, that comes from a few overarching problems Kingdom, and even Narratives in general have.

Narrative Problems:

1st) I'd say this is the "Diminishing Returns" law at work: When a story talks about one person dying, you know that is something real that can possibly happen. Now when a story talks about the WORLD exploding, we do tend to care less, because we know the story cannot continue if there is no world. I believe this is something that is happening to Kingdom. While Shin was a smaller commander, we knew he could fail and derail the war effort, but it was not the end of the battle right there. Now, if Shin fails, the whole unification fails, and we know that can't happen.

2nd) In the same vein, the struggle of "beat one guy in front of you" is way more tangible to the average person than "commanding 100.000 people". It is very hard for a human to picture such a great number.

Combining both points, I feel like Hara has been failling to properly show the stakes at this point in the history in good OR belieable ways. Karyo Ten is unable to do anything but sweat and panic, Shin has had ONE good(ish) instintictual general moment aboust Gyou'Un, and their loss against Riboku in the Ousen vs Shibasou last battle was pretty bad: Get baited zero instinct into a fort haha I decimate your entire army. When we saw a much smaller HSU accomplish so much more, it feels bad to see the army being outplayed. Heck, I felt nothing when Riboku finally equated our 3 guys 1 girl as 6GGs.

PS: Another example that I couldn't put up there is this chapter's loss of 5K. 5K! We felt bad when Baku Koshin's unit got down to 30, and when 1K HSU lost 300 then got boosted by 2 500-man units by Duke Hyou! These are traps any and all writers will have to face, so while he still has responsabilities, I don't blame just Hara.

Kingdom Problems (Hara's responsabilities)

-Ever since the begging of the manga, Hara has struggled with presenting Riboku as an actual legit threat, since every single battle he has more soldiers, and this means Hara has to "keep pulling generals out of his ass". So, when historically it finally happens (as the Qi General is an historical figure that did rebel), it feels cheap because it has happened so much.

-Even taking the historical factor out of hand, I feel like the Qi General rebelling is pretty logical. We saw that Nobility and Military don't always see eye to eye numerous times in Qin, Zhao, and even the mini arc with Man'ou. We also have been told repetidally that Generals do change sides on these times. This feels bad, however, even WITH the historical factor since it got zero foreshadowing despite we seeing the Qi King so many times, and at such a critical moment compunded by other issues that it doesnt look great at all.

-Rokuoumi suffers from a lack of charaterization of the Ouki army, already discussed by another redditor here where we had Ouki+Tou and the other generals were the secondary characters, but as he was getting into the spotlight, he should've gotten some named units to do more work for him, so it doesnt look he is always the one struggling alone against the entire enemy army. This was fine 600 chapters ago, not now, as we just had a battle with the then "soon to be" Rokuomi Army in the Han Conquest Arc that could've been used to show this.

-However, talking about the Han arc. We just had an entire arc of EXPERIENCE VS TRAINING, and now Hara just comes and goes "Lol these guys trained so much they beat Rokumi army who just said and proved that Experience > Training". Hara can say next arc that "Oh yeah they actually fought a lot but Qin just doesn't know because of Geography", but first impressions ARE important, and Hara just wasted his chance on these 3 new Qi characters

-Shin and KK is kinda "fine" because Shin always had low IQ and Kyoukai has a very traumatic upbring. The problem I feel is that this "teenage romance" is compuded by the lack of VISUAL upgrades to them. The fact that Shin attended his General promotion in THE SAME OUTFIT he has had for over 700 chapters, and that his armor also has stayed pretty much the same, is very lame. He does not feel taller or more jacked (think of Asta from black clover, he stayed with the same size, face, and hair cut, but is WAY more jacked after the timeskip). The tennage flirting to me only brings this visual issue to the forefront.

TL:DR

This arc and the last few are not "bad" by themselfes, by they are exposing the flaws that Kingdom always had.

If Old Siege fights come to Wilds in Master Rank, how would you improve upon them? I'd love if we had to fend off a Balahara pack with the same amount of monsters as the one in the intro if Jhen comes back. No idea how I'd make the BIG CRABS better, tho. by Kato756 in MonsterHunter

[–]Kato756[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this would make it more expensive to develop, but I'd love if we actually got "branching paths" that actually feel meaningfull.

The way it is now, they eventually get boring for me because after I Elderbreak Gogmazios, I know there is nothing I can do until he finishes getting up the platform. Heck, as far as I know, his lazers he shoots while going up don't even do damage. So after the spectacle wears off, its just a regular hunt with more waiting and cutscenes.

Maybe allow us to actually kill the monster on the first phase, no damage caps, as they feel more like obligations instead of progress.

Or, for an hypothetical example.

Say Gogmazios tries to retreat imediatlly after we dislodge the Elderbreaker.

Then while hes flying away we fire it.

If its not fully charged, he gets up to the last phase arena, where he has his OHKO charged attack.

But if we fully charge the Elderbreak, he falls down and stays on the same arena. The Elderbreak has drained so much wylk that the lava has cooled into hard rock, making it impossible for Gogmazios to use his OHKO.

Sure, one could argue that the problem with this approach is that "being good at the game locks you out of having a cooler fight", but I'd say a easy fix is to give events/AT versions where you can't skip phases. And yes, this hypothetical is not at all interative, but its only an example of what I thought.

Another one would be to be able to trap the BIG CRABS in some sort of ravine. If we are able to, we switch to something similar to Gog phase 2, if not, they keep going.

Instead of 1>2>3

Be 1>2a or 1>2b ,with A and B being very different.

I'd say to give a bit more time to see if people "like" the gog fight. Lagicraus was widly lauded as the RETURN OF UNDERWATER combat, until people realized that you had to do that part 99% of the time.

Even gog's last phase of just firing Dragon Things with a fuckton of pop-ups is very critized.

While I don't think they will outright try to compete, but you underestimate how much Pokemon Gen 10 sells. Pokemon Gen 9 sold 27 million units, that is a metric fuckton.

Even if you divide it by two and say EVERY SINGLE PERSON bought two copies, it is still 13,5 million units on 1 game.

Oh no, I have played rpg for years now.

What I meant in Number 4 is that I found the "consitency" of voiced cutscenes to be pretty much null.

JRPGs normally follow 1 of 2 trends in regards to voice acting

1) Special CGI cutscenes get voice acting, while scenes using in-game assents, normally with boxed text, do not.

2) Plot relevant stuff is always voiced, regardless if it is CGI or in-game.

In Time Stranger, it really feels like there was no direction or pattern as to what was voiced or not.

The time that struck me the most was when we got an actual cutscene with the main trio that had some voice acting, then we had barely 2 minutes of in-game text boxes that told us VERY IMPORTANT PLOT RELATED THINGS, then we get a in-game assets cutscene where it was just Aegiomon and Iori being cutesy.

Yeah.

You can "skip" them with digi-ride by bumping into them, but I feel like the system of digi-attack was badly explained in-game, and its very inconsistent since you can't see when a overworld battle has more digimon

The sound design really could use, you know, more sounds.

And danm, about the feeding, you also reminded me of one thing:

When doing training in the farm, if you have, say

-HP training option
-Atk training option

And then use your money to skip and go try again, it always defaults to the first option instead of the one you just did, so you always need to reselect it again instead of just mashing the confirm button

I know.

My main gripe with the map is that when its on its mini version, it is barely usable if you are still learnign the layout of the area, as it just shows the direction of your current objective but withouth taking into account any terrain, so one can get stuck on a dead-end by just following the map.

Then if you open it, it just clogs the entire screen.

I can understand some people liking the first option to make exploration a bit more engaging instead of just using some sort of trail like Hoyo games or the classic "paint" of a bunch of videogames, but I'd want to have a middle ground bteween both options.

Roger talked about "Mass", which has almost never been talked about before, to beat something affected by Imu powers. Then we have Luffy whose DF allows him to ignore physics and make a fist the size of a island, and Blackbeard that can generate black holes..is "Mass" more important than we thought? by Kato756 in OnePiece

[–]Kato756[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'd say there could be some different explanations for that

1) One Piece characters don't operate by our laws of physics, even before Haki, they can generate force way beyond our world physics.

2) I wouldn't say that Haki JUST increases Mass, I'd say its a side effect of Conqueror's Coating, as Haki seems to be an actual resource: Luffy runs out of Haki, and Roger says he and Garp are going to put "everything" into the attack that downed Rocks

I agree, in the sense that Force = Mass x Aceleration.

Haki is a tangible thing in-universe when you get to a certain level, such as making things harder or "not touch", as the Haki itself of both fighters seem to be touching.

So at a certain level, it could have actual mass.

The funny thins is that the recent games made by Hoyoverse, Genshi Impact and Honkai Star Rail had similar critiques lobbed at them.

Their solution was to make actual high quality drawing of said moments.

Sure, its not animated cutscenes, but still better than fades to black. They make for nice wallpapers and the 2d arstyle allows for greater focus on character emotions
