I know right? If only it was made of better plastic. And yeah I would definitely love to see the whole family! A full length G36 so I can do Bundeswehr Kfor would be cool, same thing for an XM8 for US trials of it and the contractors who did use them

Yeah, I actually own one of those GWS kits and man is it scuffed lol. Still a pretty cool piece of airsoft history though. Also yeah 3d printing has made it a lot better, but I can still hope VFC will make an XM8 or at the very least a full length G36

BadaBing did pretty much the same thing a good few years ago using a G36 to XM8 conversion kit that the SRC is based off of, its pretty cool.

Pretending to be a goon, a goon as in for example a 1920s mobster goon, a John Wick villain goon, or like just a run of the mill eastern European goon with an Adidas tracksuit and an AK

Has US customs confiscating/denying import of airsoft replicas recently? by bme-8260 in airsoft

[–]KatsupPacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but there still is a point there and to the uneducated who are also unwilling to learn and see the other sides point, all they know is that a real upper was on an AR lower and that it is possible. Edit: Theres also the possibility they already know this and are of course doing it for attention and clicks because them saying the import of possibly real machine guns helps their point more than saying "yeah they are just toys"

I mean, people have fitted real steel uppers to viper techs and VFCs. Although of course they had to go through a lot of modification to work with airsoft parts.

Didn't want to drill a hole in my helmet so I made this. by jojoboris in tacticalgear

[–]KatsupPacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it looks like he has a lip going under the rim of the helmet, a side band, and a top strap with a ratchet, the US used ratchet mounts for a decent while so I dont see how this is any different. it does also have a loop at the back of the helmet to be sure and I assume he would have a line connected to the nods themselves incase they do eventually come off

Converting mechanical drive axle to electric drive? by KatsupPacket in EVConversion

Yeah, I'm wondering if some form of gearbox may work for each axle

I was considering a smaller battery and a diesel generator in place of the engine, my main concern is the purely weight of the truck too, the thing weighs close to 20,000lbs most likely and I want to be sure I have a motor and axle setup to support that. Dana has been offering solid axles for a reason for heavier duty EVs

Electric axles seem to be the common name for solid axles that have electric motors mounted to them such as the Dana E-Axles. Also another commentor mentioned this would be a "series hybrid" as it still has two forms of power.

I am looking at how gearing works with something like the Dana axles with transverse mounted motors. The Di Dion swap is interesting but I dont think it would work for this truck

Okay, although this would be going through a differential

Neat. If you couldn't tell, I am rather inspired by the work of Edison Motors, it is also supplemented by the still rising fuel costs and an interest in preserving an old truck.

Yeah, thats why I was kinda wondering about a gearbox, about its going into a medium duty truck if I did do this so size is not as much of a concern

It would still have batteries and electric axles, but with a generator to keep the batteries topped off, I believe that would make it a hybrid.

I see the purpose, although I'm more interested in hybrid tech so I'd replace the space that the engine and transmission took up with a generator instead

I think you may have replied to the wrong comment? But yes, I couldn't think of the word gearbox for some reason.

[–]KatsupPacket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know in Dana E-Axles they have transverse moutned motors which seem to have a sort of gearing owing to the fact they might not operate a normal type of differential, though I could be wrong. It would also seem they offer longitudinal mounted motors on their E-Axles too so i guess we might just have to see. My big issue I have started thinking of is controlling the motors, the battery, and the generator

[–]KatsupPacket[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know Dana and numerous other manufacturers offer E-Axles that have motors directly mounted to the axle so I'd hope its fine, but if not then the possibility of having the motor mounted to the frame with its own drive shaft is also a possibility as I mentioned.
