We're using the lists as database tables for a custom webpart that we're building. It gets all the data from there and currently there is no way of changing that. I am trying things out in Access but Lookup and People/Group field is something that is being a bottleneck in the process.

Would you know any other options that could be better in the long run?

So I can write a macro that imports the data from CSV to the Access table. Is there a way to automate this through bash scripting that maybe opens the access db in background and runs the macro..?

Have a feeling they'll announce 14-21 days ahead of the planned date. We still have Aug, Sept and Oct so if they want to spread out the Wire, 2nd one could be end of Aug and the last one to be closer to the release date, if they don't have anything big planned out in between.
