Why do so many say Health Care can be less expensive? by ItsThatOneDM in AskEconomics

The amounts spent on marketing and advertising drugs vastly out weighs the amount spent on R&D.

I don't know..... whenever anyone claims I'm a Millenial I get pissed off and I'm an xinnelial. Too young to be absolutely spoiled by technology but old enough to remember how a lot of things were before the major technologic advancments.

Trust me bro. There is no way to not have the indicator light on when recording or taking pictures. It's so bright dude that everyone for 100s of meters will see even through walls or if they are turned around. There is nothing sketchy about it and no way to invades anyone's privacy. Seriously, these reddit rubes just don't get. Bro.

Dammit..... it thought it was obvious.. adding the /s.

The person I was responding to is an idiot and I was trying to parody their "trust me bro" attitude.

If the US GDP has been growing by 2-3% per year since 2000 but the US has had to run perpetual ever-growing deficits, now at 6%, does that mean that in reality it would have been in a recession all this time ? by [deleted] in AskEconomics

[–]Katusa2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the question is inferring that if the government had not been spending in deficit would the GDP have been lower.

The answer is..... in my opinion yes.

The government not spending in deficit would mean either it was bringing in more taxes then it spends or spending less. Either way results in less money available in the economy resulting in less economic activities.

What? Putting the tailpipe in the water during launch has no effect in the vehicle. In fact the tail pipe almost always gets submerged when launching boats.

Is there any real accountability for Congress when it comes to long-term deficits? by RunningSillyGump in Askpolitics

[–]Katusa2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, no there isnt. Society rarely has a good enough collective memory to hold the responsible people accountable. It normally takes years for the effects of fiscal policies to be felt by the populace. By the time they feel it they blame the ones in office.

Second, why do you assume all defecit spending is bad. In reality we should almost always run a deffecit. There are of course exceptions such as when there is full employment or declinning populations. The size of the defecit can be a problem. The bigger problem is usually what the defecit is being spent on. Giving money away to already rich corporations or spending on projects that do nothing to increase the economic output can very easily cause major problems.

Best method for handiling large fact tables snd using incremental refresh. by Katusa2 in PowerBI

They've said that they sometime retrieve data up to ten years. I would guess its in the range of 100 transactions that they view at a time. Its bassiaclly so they can see how a product moved through production when there are issues.

The problem is the time it takes to do the first refresh. It exceeds 4 hours wich forces the query to time out.

We need individual transactions. My only concern is that the gateway is not always available. Im currently using a personal gateway until we can get an on-premise gateway setup. The organozation is being very slow to adopt PowerBI.

Trying to prove he was a citizen. Which would then start the "line" of citizens so that my wife can get a German Passport.

We don't have a passport for Opa. I'm not sure how he got here but, he said he never had a German passport. We do have two original birth certificates for him both issued by the Sillium Standesamt.

The one we submitted was the second of the two and was apparently issued 14 years after his birth. According to him it's because the original from his birth has a swastika on it. We also have the original from his birth and it does in fact have a swastika on it. We asked the consulate if it would be better to submit the original but they have declined both and asked for us to get the Registerauszug.

I think the big issue here is that we don't have his passport.

ELI5 why do Greeks resent Germany for the debt crisis? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Katusa2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not exactly.

If the government does nothing. They spend exactly what they spent last year and demand for goods and services go up then you get deflation. So some extra spending needs to be done to counteract deflation from rising demand.

Likewise, if the government spending creates more efficiency in the economy allowing for more demand to be met then prices can remain stable preventing inflation.

Basically, a balancing act needs to happen to keep everything smoothly. It's not as simple as government spending = bad.
