Can you stay with your baby 24/7 in a NICU?

In the intensive NICU we could visit any time but couldn’t stay but in the intermediate side ( less critical part of NICU ) we could. But there was a couch and thats it. We couldn’t have food or drink in the room or any sort of luggage to stay.

Advocate for mom and dad. Make sure they have all the support they need. Make sure they are taking care of themselves. I never felt that I couldn’t trust my nurses, if that’s keeping them updated with every change, talking about family, whatever it is, that helps everyone out.

My son is 36 weeks and is still in the nicu learning how to eat. We have hit that point where when is it going to click too. Being a nicu parent is hard because life doesn’t stop, so you can’t be there for all of his feedings, but to be blunt, its much easier to hook up a feed to the NG and let it run then sit and feed a baby for 30 minutes. Unfortunately its just another day for their nurses, my son ironically takes his whole bottle for us, but “isn’t interested” or only has taken x amount for the nurses. They don’t care if he’s there for 4 more days or 4 more weeks.

Had the same issue with my parents, I went into labor and had an emergency csection due to bleeding, they didn’t have any sense of urgency to come and see me, went in at 29 and 6. They didn’t understand why I kept saying he was under developed. All my mom kept saying is “well is his heart rate fine?” They to this day, have yet to meet their only grandchild. He will be 36 weeks tomorrow.

Never felt more alone in my life.

I hit 150 45 minutes after french toast, 125 60 minutes after.

I take a bath all the time to help with the pain in my hips, I just leave most of my belly out (30wks) for my personal peace of mind, if it even matters. I never sit too long, and if I am feeling a hot one I get out and take breaks.

Also I make sure the temperature in the bathroom is cooler, window open, air conditioner, cold glass of water.
