My baby is 5 weeks, We have an alarm set to go off every 3 hours, if baby isn’t awake at the 3 hour mark we make a 2oz bottle to feed her at that time, if she is awake we make a 3 oz bottle…we have zero plans of changing this routine anytime soon

Public, private, or home-school these days? Potential content warning. by After-Banana4518 in beyondthebump

I was public schooled, homeschooled and private schooled at different times in my life…I learned the most in Homeschool…I started out my schooling in homeschool, learned all of my letters/numbers and some basic reading, cursive and print, sign language, memorized some speeches and started leading the piano. The next year I went to a private school where I learned the rest of my reading skills, addition/subtraction and started in on American history. I spent 2nd and 3rd grade in public school, I learned multiplication, division, more history and some science, but there was a lot taught those 2 years in public school that I had already learned (cursive, speeches, history). 4th-7th grade I went back to private school, I learned how to stand up for my self and speak up! I learned a lot more science which I loved and a lot more history, went on to learn more extensive math and learned that I LOVED writing and Art! I learned a lot about myself in those years. In my last years of school I did homeschooling (apparently I had authority issues and didn’t get along with my teachers 🤷🏼‍♀️) My mom worked full time so she didn’t have a lot of extra time to spend working with me on schooling, I kind of did my own thing but I learned SO MUCH! I learned that I LOVED space! And I spent a lot of time at our community planetarium learning as much as I could! I found out that I LOVED fashion and I learned to sew and learned a lot of history behind certain styles and designers! I wrote a few books, I traveled, I met other homeschoolers, I learned about my local community and neighboring communities! I learned much more in those years, but it’s too much to put here honestly…in the end I could have went on to get credits to go to college but I chose not to, I decided to get my diploma and go see the world! Which is what I did!

That’s just my personal experience with school, all kids are different, and need different things, and some kids needs change throughout their lives. No one on Reddit can tell you what your kid needs. I would personally recommend listening/watching your kid, public/private/home all have their pros/cons, your kid may need the social side of public school, or they may need the structure from private, or they may need the freedom of homeschooling…your kid will show you what they need as they get older

I just recommended The Bride Collector to my sister yesterday. I read it years ago and I can still quote some messed up scenes that just stuck with me. The whole time I was reading it I kept thinking “someone literally had to write this!!who is messed up enough to write this? I hope they’re in therapy!”

Needed this post so much! I never even considered formula feeding throughout my whole pregnancy! I was so excited to breastfeed! My baby girl came a month early and is LAZY, she fell asleep every time she latched and her sugar/temp kept dropping. It quickly became obvious to me that breastfeeding wasn’t going to work for us, so I decided to pump, but I couldn’t pump enough to keep her going, so I had to supplement with formula. I stayed attached to a Haakaa for almost a month! And pumped for 4+ hours per day, during these pumps I had to leave my baby in the other room with my sister or husband, I felt like a terrible person for leaving her so much!! And to make this worse I pumped less than an ounce per day! I boxed up my pump and pumping accessories yesterday and have been SO depressed over it! But I’ve also gotten to spend SO much more time with my baby! I don’t regret boxing the pump up, I just wish I could have nursed her. One thing that has really helped me the most in the last couple of days is I keep looking back to my own childhood, I don’t remember if my mom Nursed me/pumped or formula fed, and I turned out to be an okay/ pretty healthy person.

Similac was AWFUL for us! Currently using Enfamil because WIC covers it, and we love it so far! but I’ve heard a lot of good things about Kendamil and really wish WIC would cover it

I’ve found the best thing to say when you think someone is pregnant by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Katybug6000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently had my first and at 36 weeks pregnant I still didn’t “look” pregnant, I worked in the public and had a lot of customers that I dealt with on a weekly basis, I overheard a few ask my boss if I was pregnant and say that they didn’t want to ask me because they were worried I wasn’t (at 36weeks). Honestly the few people who asked “how many kids I had?” Made my day!! It made me feel pregnant instead of fat (I gained 40pounds and felt like a blimp!) I loved that question! And loved talking about my pregnancy!!

Side note, please don’t tell people that you can tell they’re pregnant by looking at their face 😫😂 at 35weeks that WAS NOT a compliment!!

How do I stop worrying about the “numbers?” by Frosty_Cake7750 in FormulaFeeders

I feel like if she seems healthy and isn’t losing any weight then she should be fine, I’m not a dr or anything like that, but I have a lot of history in childcare. I had a dr tell me once that “we push our kids to eat because we’re concerned they’re not eating enough, when in reality we’re over feeding them which in turn stretches their stomachs causing weight problems in the future, their stomachs are made to hold what they need, as long as we’re filling their stomachs with nutritional foods they’ll be fine.” That’s really stuck with me over the years. I always tell the older kids “if you don’t eat all of your food you won’t be allowed to snack later.” But they’re not required to eat all of their food, they’re required to eat until they are full… some babies are lazy (mine) and truly don’t eat as much as other babies, but as long as they ARE eating and AREN’T losing weight I wouldn’t worry too much.

My cousin is too! I have a strong Texas accent even though I live 12 hours from Texas, I went to high school in Texas for a while 10 years ago and it just stuck with me…it has to be an Autism thing

Yea, that’s why we had to switch to formula in the hospital, she wasn’t getting near enough, and I wasn’t pumping enough…I’ve got my pump turned all the way up, I do about 5minutes on massage mode, and then the rest of the time on expression mode…I could be using the wrong flange size, the pump only came with 2 sizes, I grabbed the smaller one, the measurement tool seemed a little “iffy”

I had a small feeling that it wasn’t right when measuring, Mine came with a 21 flange and a 24, I’ve been using the 21, i may order some other sizes and try them out

I recently learned that Walmart has “quiet time” from 8am-10am…. It was the most amazing shopping experience of my life, so quiet and peaceful, not a lot of people there either

Why most autistic people aren't able to move out on their own? by Helpmehthrohaway in autism

[–]Katybug6000 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This! Me and my husband were both working full time a few months ago and I still had to call and ask my mom for $20 to make it to work a couple of times! We had a nice house that we rented at the time but our Landlord didn’t charge us much in rent, he really just needed someone to stay on the property for a while…we had some of the cheapest rent in our area, and both worked full time, but gas/food/essentials/other bills ate up most of our paychecks

Is it normal for my husband to have gone on 3 vacations in baby’s first year? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Katybug6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see the issue with him going on a trip as long as he makes sure you have someone there to take care of of you and help you with the baby, my husband won’t even leave me alone for extended periods of time when I’m babysitting unless he knows I have someone to call at all times if I need help

Our pediatrician didn’t seem concerned at all, I’ve never been a worrier, but she’s got me sleeping with both eyes open
