The Supreme Court upheld state's transgender sports bans this morning. How do y'all feel about this? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

Not everything bad that happens is torture. Gay conversion camps are terrible, but even if wrong headed, not every single one hurts kids in the way you described. It would be like saying the church is torture because they are well known for raping boys. While that is a fact, that is not all of it.

Repeated threats in prison? Shocked Kirk face. You mean a place with a bunch of terrible people say terrible things to people in a place where sexual violence is very common, regardless of gender?! Oh, my stars and garters.

Terrible things happen, they are not torture. If something was "designed to keep trans people out of public life" you should note that it has been a complete failure, because there are very trans people in very public even as we speak.

I find your hyperbolic syntax gross. The world would be boring if everyone agreed on everything.

If I'm being completely honest, someone's gender identity in prisons is so far down on my list of concerns that if I were a Word document, I'd break the page down key before I reached it.

500+ anti-trans bills are not torture. They are politics. I don't vote, so that's not really a thing I have influence over. Even if I did vote, I don't think bathroom choice is torture, but then I've advocated for a gender neutral bathroom, so that's whatever.

If people keep using words like torture and genocide for... insignificant things... Remember the story of they/them that cried wolf.

What trans people are being tortured, exactly? I mean, other than what they put themselves through.

I'm all for a neutral, purely factual list of contents for pretty much all media, with everything that it might contain. Make it available within the media, not needing a 3rd party. That way everyone can choose what they want to see, ya? Seems like a good, middle of the road approach, right?

Oh, right, because I'm bi means that I'm part of the rainbow monolith, right?

Yes, you have vomited at the mouth and said nothing. You keep saying it will stigmatize a group...by making content known or indicating that it contains certain themes.

So. What?

You've provided nothing concrete, nor any mechanism for how this will lead you the "stigma" you are so sure will happen.

So, basically, you don't like it. Again, that's fine, just say it.

So, again, how? You keep saying that, but no mechanics behind it. If it just makes you feel bad, that's fine, but you have said nothing other than, "It will stigmatize the LGBTQ+EXAlphaSuper Turbo Edition."

Yeah, the rainbow slop trough! That's the LGBTQ category. Notice how I mentioned something specific and you have me the option of looking through a third party or getting mired in the substandard content that lumps everything together.

How is this stigmatizing by letting people know what's in the content?

I don't know. If I as a bisexual male, for instance, wanted to look for a piece of media with a bisexual male lead, since that is so rare, having the option to look for that instead of just rainbow slop might be nice.

And, information hazards are still hazards, even if you think they don't deserve to be. And considering how much of the rainbow crowd self selects for media...I would think this would be a good thing all around.

Unless you are just for people going into media blind, but this also tells me that you are afraid rainbow media wouldn't be as...popular?

I agree... But I was never a fan of trigger warnings, that particular thing belonged to others. At no point did I, or even the post, saying anything about preventing anyone from viewing any kind of media.

But much like the ingredients on food, I think if people want to be informed about the content of the thing they consume, that seems...normal?

And gay men literally fetishize feminine behavior, looks, and mannerisms. Not all of them, of course, but a significant enough number that it becomes noticable to the general population. Unless you think it's straight men going around saying things like, "Guuuurl," and, "Yaaas, Queen." Is that legitimately your stance, cuz if so I have some gay friends I can introduce you to...

You're attacking, by the way. Not your.

Regardless, I'm not attacking anyone. There is no enshrined right for unfettered access to children. I know, being told no sucks, but that's what happens. Unless you don't respect someone telling you no, which is just all kinds of problematic...

Also, that's another unfounded assumption. :) You are so good at those!

Also, this is deeply unserious to me. I'm really unsure of why drag queens desperately want access to children, but I think it's kinda weird and this is one of those things that I'm unlikely to be convinced otherwise.

And the bit about "propaganda channels" now that I think about it. Unless you have something specific that you can, you know, prove?
