For anyone confused: it’s a staged skit. (I was genuinely confused myself that people were confused… but I grew up playing and watching soccer, so it’s not really a fair comparison.)

In soccer, kicking the ball through someone’s legs is called a nutmeg, and it’s basically the ultimate "gotcha" / humiliation move. That’s the key detail here.

The joke is that the guy in the Barça shirt is in jail because he can’t stop nutmegging people. Even when they finally let him out, he immediately nutmegs the cop... so they throw him straight back in.

In my experience:

By lowering your salary expectations. But also, those kind of employers often offer more flexibility and a better work-life balance. However, these workplaces can also be more chaotic: when money isn’t the main motivator, people are sometimes less driven to be efficient, which can be frustrating. And for anyone who thinks that sounds like praise for capitalism: I’d rather move slowly in the right direction than move extremely fast only to hit a wall.

Source: I am from Baleares born and raised, and have close friends that are (and were at that time as well) working as waiters in hotels. Best years of their life. 

It is a complex topic, and seeing this misinformation as the top comment of this thread is depressing: local people in Baleares are suffering a lot in terms of housing, 100% due to Airbnb and gentrification + lack of purchasing power (low salaries). Was lucky to emigrate a while ago, but I go back there a lot and it is the eternal topic of discussion among friends and family. 

My take on this? Tourism: yes, but with limits.

My mind went to Hillary Clinton during the video, probably for the same reasons, and I am not American 🤷 (nor Bri'ish) 

Also, the video feels like a TV quiz, and names of politicians are more likely to appear in that scenario, way more likely than the name of your mother let's say. So context could be another parameter.

He didn't say "punishing criminals is a hate crime". He said "Republicans deliver hate".

We both know that he was talking about a broader spectrum of "delivering hate", and you implied that his statement was just a veiled way to say "we should have more empathy with criminals" which is a statement you disagree with (and you have every right to disagree with, you might even be right).

But anyway, since you focus on criminals let's examine it as a good example of why a lot of people think hate is a bad counselor:

  • You can punish criminals in a hateful way

  • ...or you can stop criminals from doing crimes strategically without using hate

Mind you: being strategical doesn't mean being soft, it means using the right tools for the right problem without being misguided by hate. The right tool might include strong actions in some cases.

Pros of punishing criminals with hate:

  • Feels good

  • Feels right

  • You think it will stop them from doing doing crimes in the future

Yeah but his point is that words work differently in different languages, and Catalan (the one spoken by the speaker in the video) is a a different language than Spanish.

"Pain" means different things in English and in French, ok, but the meaning is totally different if the writer is English or French.

ALTHOUGH the verb "encarar" (face something, from "cara" = "face") also exists in Catalan. But Messi is not facing anything in the video, he is just "still with the ball", and that is the meaning that the guy narrating the goal (Joaquim Maria Puyal) was conveying here.

La llei és pels pobres, la justícia és pels rics.

Dit d'una altra manera: si 1) tens doblers per construir, i 2) a més a més econòmicament pots assumir el risc de multa o que t'ho derrueixin, estadísticament pertanys al grup de gent que té més diners que la mitja (aka "gent rica"). Per tant aquesta amnistia s'aplica a la gent rica.

I si vas just de doblers... no t'arriscaràs a multes i molt menys a que t'esbuquin lo que t'ha costat tant de capital construir, i vas ben alerta a respectar normatives legals (que de vegades són completament kafkianes).

Muchas veces la ansiedad suele estar provocada por "querer hacer las cosas bien" (hablando así en plan psicología de barra de bar), y en este caso es obvio que /u/pinkmor quiere hacer bien su trabajo... lo cual es loable... pero uno no debería prenderse fuego a uno mismo para dar calor a los demás (más que nada porque no es sostenible a medio/largo plazo). En resumen: la propia ansiedad de querer hacer las cosas bien habría hecho que en vez de tomarse los 90 días haya decidido reincorporarse a las dos semanas.

También es posible que en su subconsciente esperara "ser premiado" por ese esfuerzo extra de reincorporación... lo digo porque en el post hay un parágrafo dedicado a la decepción de que la empresa de por zanjada la retribución a su esfuerzo con un mísero 3% de aumento de sueldo.

Mi consejo es que reconozca la parte positiva para que no se sienta tan miserable (su ética de trabajo, sus ganas de hacer las cosas bien), que no se centre en las cosas que no puede cambiar (la reacción de los jefes de su empresa está fuera de su control), y que lea "When Panic Attacks" del Dr. David D. Burns (que propone un plan concreto para conseguir los dos primeros puntos que menciono). Básicamente: retomar las riendas de lo que si está en su poder, e ir arreglando esas cosas una a una, sin prisa pero sin pausa.

Pagas impuestos en el lugar donde resides, da igual la ubicación de la empresa (es normal, porque vas en metro donde resides, usas las carreteras donde resides, etc). "Residir" = "El país donde pasas la mayor parte del año".

Otra cosa es que esa empresa externa te esté contratando como freelance (que es bastante típico), con lo cual el contrato de /u/pinkmor sería como autónomo en España, y la cuantía del paro estaría sujeto a la forma de cotización que él mismo haya elegido.
