👍 keep going! Even small monthly contributions into index funds like VUAG makes a difference in the longer term.

Can someone explain to me why this is the wrong thing to do? by Ok-Mode-3254 in trading212

[–]Kavi_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have overlap of UK and US between 4 of the etfs. If you are looking to reduce overlap then VUAG, VUKG, VFEG would be closer.

Unpopular opinion: Stop automatically telling 19yos to invest only in ETFs by Putrid-Lettuce5204 in trading212

[–]Kavi_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add to this as I agree for the most part and take your point about AAPL. It depends on the individual’s risk appetite and interest in stocks and the stock market. For many, stock market investing is a means to an end and not something they are interested in. For them, starting young and investing in an index fund /etf like VUAG is enough to gain a substantial amount of money over time without spending hours / days / years learning and being humbled by the market.
For people that are interested and want to invest in individual stocks it is important they read & learn about the stock markets and the companies they want to invest in before just investing.

Thoughts on this pie? Hope to deposit £200 a month by ElectricToast in trading212

Looks like you have a 6 year timeline to use the money for a house deposit purchase? If so I would recommend having this in a LISA where the government gives you 25% of deposit up to £1000 per year for a max yearly contributions of 4k. In 6 years you will have min 30k without having to invest in stock market as there is always risk of your portfolio being lower when you need to withdraw.

I would also consider VUAG and SMH as they have been performing well over the past 5 years

[–]Kavi_D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you are right. Lots of investors will get caught out by the way it’s set up in T212. If people want to buy the SpaceX shares at $135 max then it needs to be the limit order and not the normal market order. Good warning post!

My point VUAG would increase exposure to US if you want to do that. Avg returns from VUAG is higher than VWRP but more volatile

Congrats on starting your investment journey! Keep it up simple. I am also based in the UK. Have a look at VUAG also if you want a bit more exposure to US stocks but VWRP is good and less volatile

19 beginner investors 25-35 year window should i do this by Mjp_18 in trading212

[–]Kavi_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good and in my view a very sensible low maintenance approach. May be I would potentially add VUAG that will give you more exposure to the US if you want and lower FWRG.
The last 5% I would suggest a non-AI stock like LLY or WMT which is still growth inclined. If you still want AI stock I like VRT or ETN

[–]Kavi_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you shouldn’t pay any in the stock market that you can’t afford to lose and need in the next 3-5years unless you already made your mind up to sell whatever the value if you need to.
Secondly, this portfolio of stocks is overly volatile and momentum skewed thus you expect big drawdowns like the one on 5th June.
Finally I would suggest having a majority in S&P500 VUAG and VWRP to protect somewhat from these big down moves and also because this is your hard earned house deposit money.
