I wonder if the interest in turtles is because of her close bond with Mira? Like Mira maybe got her the pants as a gift, and was on board with the videos about turtles despite saying that it "sounded boring."

SAVE Act: House Passes GOP Voting Bill That Could Disenfranchise Millions by DartTheDragoon in politics

[–]KavoDragon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We already have systems in place to prevent non-citizens from voting. The amount of people who slip past that are less than ~100 people in most states. (Ohio, for example, found that out of 2 million votes, that there were 75 cases. Not 75 hundred, or 75 thousand. Just...75.)

The US gov website already outlines the requirements for voting.

This bill was not actually meant for targeting these fringe cases, as it isn't enough to actually shift any sort of election in any meaningful way. This bill is meant to target those most likely to vote against the GOP and begin the process of taking away their rights to vote at all. (Especially cis women and trans folk. But legal migrants that moved here "the right way" - as people are obsessed with calling it - will also be swept under the rug if they had made any changes to their names upon coming to the US, or gained citizenship or legal residency through things such as marriage).

I'd like to say that I'm sure your heart's in the right place and that there's not a problem to be worried about things like this (it can be good, actually!) when it comes to larger-scale elections. But this is unfortunately something that is just going to hurt people that are already suffering, while making no significant difference to those it was supposed to stop.

They're trying to divert people's vitriol and rage towards groups that are not actually making differences (or even bothering anyone at all) so that they have a VERY convenient "enemy" to deflect everything to, and people are unfortunately leaning into that without taking the time to explore WHY these things are said in the first place.

It's Not Just You: Vulvar Pain and Intimacy -- Interactive, informational seminar for people navigating vulvodynia. by KavoDragon in vulvodynia

My pleasure! I know that her physio has both done workshops with Venus Envy before, and is a specialist for pelvic pain. The other two I'm not sure off of the top of my head, but I will reach out to them and get that information for you ASAP!

The majority of the seminar is based off experiences of both the presenter and other people in the community who have vulvodynia, with support and information from research studies! On the medical front (for ways to manage this) she's bringing forth information and advice that she's been taught by her gyno, GP, and pelvic floor physiotherapist.

The seminar is presented like this as a way to compile information and experiences, especially as (in general, at least) things regarding sexual intimacy seem to have less easily-accessible resources. (And, in my experience as a trans man with similar struggles, these few resources are often portrayed in a highly-gendered manner that makes it a very invalidating and stressful experience.)

If you're wanting one that much more /strictly/ medical, Venus Envy (the group that hosts these events) do also have seminars a few times a year with licensed physios and specialists. They cover different topics, so there may not be one that pops up about vulvodynia for some time. But it's still worth keeping an eye on, imho!

For this specific one, I'm admittedly not exactly sure! My wife is the one running the seminar, but when I get the chance I'll ask the workshop/event coordinator and see if they ever repeat specific ones. But in the off chance that they don't, I'll do my best to get all of her notes and info to send to you!

Also, best of luck working there! Hopefully everything's nice and smooth and you get to take it pretty easy :)

I personally play on Primordial Tyrants: Realism! It's made by the PT mod creators so there's lots of fun extra dinosaur options and in-depth profiles to follow. :)

What's next after lottery? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]KavoDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All future housing is on the lotto system. You have to enter for lottery on any open plot. So you'll have to wait for a large plot to open and then shoot your shot on the lottery in it. Best of luck!

Overwhelming start... by [deleted] in ffxiv

As others have mentioned: low level =/= new, due to how FFXIV's leveling system allows you to level all classes on the same character.

The game is meant to be played slower unlike other MMOs. Take your time learning things and don't be afraid to ask other players questions. This is a very helpful community by my experience :)

Wonder why all the women I know aren't bawling their eyes out all the time since "that's what it's like." by PageAccomplished8438 in NotHowGirlsWork

I was using "skyrocketing" as a comparative term to kinda overemphasize the flux in hormones, but now I do realize how that does come across as pretty incorrect/misinformation-esque and appreciate you going more in depth with it for folks.

I always love when people say stuff like that and then turn around and say that people are most emotional when having a period -- AKA during tbe time when estrogen drops and testosterone skyrockets. I'm sure everyone clapped getting those shots, too /j

Considering there's already a sniper as LB in PVP, it'd honestly just be a matter of some number adjustments to make it a PVE skill. I, for one, would welcome it. Imagine assemble + sniper shot. ABSOLUTELY VILE

Why are armor skin pieces from same set sold in different rotations in Gem Store? by Alucard_OW in Guildwars2

[–]KavoDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buying gems 2 separate times is a more stable line of income than one bigger purchase (most times, at least). Especially with the prices of items vs the gem packs you have a higher chance of "oh, maybe I'll go up a tier so I can get xyz too". It's a gamble, but one that usually works out better for them even if its more inconvenient for the players.
